Barbara was so entranced by the image of Tim, the popular and handsome basketball star and class president, that she couldn’t see beyond the glitter. Luckily for her, Sandy “the mad doodler” of her homeroom, had designs on her. He would give her back her sense of perspective. Together they would make a perfect picture!
I have to admit that I never really warmed to the entitled heroine. She whines about her recording star parents constantly but is happy enough to buy clothes, makeup and supplies and call her best friend long distance on her private phone without a second thought. Her last minute change of heart and epiphany about dickish Tim felt rushed and inauthentic. Poor, sweet Sandy deserved better.
Also, I bet they are *still* finding glitter on that gym floor forty years later 😬
