(Previously published as the serial story "Beauty and Two Beasts" on Kindle Vella. This version has been spiced up quite a bit more!) When Lyrical's family sells her to slavers, she expects the worst. But demon wolves attack the slavers' cart, freeing her to run into the forest, where she discovers a mysterious castle surrounded by a garden maze. Two cursed brothers inhabit the castle and its grounds. Both are monstrous in form, as well as damaged and dangerous at heart. And both are intent on claiming her.
In this dark, spicy Beauty & the Beast fairytale retelling, the main character is intimately involved with both brothers (separately), but she chooses one.

This was spicey, so if that's what you're looking for, this is the book for you. If you're looking for a true love feeling you get from beauty and the beast, this is NOT the book for you. I felt NO love between the main guy and girl. I felt more love between her and the brother, honestly. This was such a disappointment to me for a beauty and the beast retelling. 1.5 stars for the spice that's about it.
Another fun, spicy Kenney read - just what I needed right now with the holidays looming and the snow closing in. I love Beauty and the Beast and this was such a unique twist that I couldn’t resist. Loved Lyrical and Caswell together and am thoroughly impressed Kenney managed a HEA for both beasts. Well done!
This is an older Kenney story, and you can tell. While the bones of her talent are there, it's still only an endeavor in her path to growth. And ya'll know how I fucking rave about her books, so there has been soooo much growth to the writing since this.
I loved seeing Kenney do some true monster romance, but everything moved too fast. The story was so incredibly rushed and it was a real detriment. There were so many elements that could have been fleshed out, but were never able to. This story just didn't have enough room to breath.
I'm pretty sure the story originally debuted on Kindle Vella which, from my understanding, is like a live updated story that premieres chapters each week? I might be making that up, but alas, I shan't be Googling it and instead will just keep typing here.
Anyway, if the story was originally more short form and was adapted to a normal novel then I can see how this just wasn't properly attended to with added content. It says that it was essentially expanded from it's Vella form but I think we could have used a fair amount more to fully flesh everything out.
Buckle Up Princess......Ok....I tumbled down a rabbit hole with this one and every reader should heed the authors warning in her dedication 🤣
I think I cringed and giggled through the first quarter and almost put it down, I did not think this was for me but I am glad I finished it.
It's a quick read with easy chapters, three points of view and dived straight into the spice if that's your thing. Once I was able to stop laughing and wrapped my head around the spicy scenes I rather enjoyed the story and reading the beasts points of view and as for a fairy tail retailing I thought I knew how it would end. The author was able to take a traditional fairy tale and put a twist on the ending which was unexpected.
This was a beautifully woven, two-in-one love story. The characters were complex and deep, and when I wondered how one of them could possibly be redeemed, Kenney managed to pull it off perfectly.
Spicy Beauty and the beast retelling with a twist.
If you ever wished Beauty and the beast had a lot of spice added, this is for you. But there's a twist. There are two beasts. Be warned though, the spice does come early on in the book (and continues again later). I think that's where this book was a little bit of a miss for me. Usually, I like a bit more pining and build up/characters getting to know each other before getting into the sexy bits. But, that's just me.
I didn't really vibe with this - two brothers and she gets with both. It doesn't last long with one but love triangles, no matter how minor, are unpalatable to me. The pacing was also a little wonky. I found the exposition rather slow-moving and then all of a sudden the plot jumped forward to the climax and denouement.
May 6th - 46% I’m surprised by how much I am enjoying this book. I’m enjoying it so much that I tried to hold myself from reading it so it doesn’t end quickly like the past few, but all I wanna do is read read read. This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, so I expected the usual plot points of the story: a beautiful girl who lives in small town with her father, a man who try to win her over using foul language, her father falling ill and the girl ending up in the Beast’s castle, where the would unfold with all it entails. That is not what I found. I mean, yes, but there’s way more to it. The main character is Lyrical, a poor young woman with a back story very similar to Feyre’s, with her having to provide for her father and older sister, who don’t appreciate her hard work. Lyrical gets sold to slavers but manages to scape and ends up at the castle where we meet our two love interests: Caswell and Everton. I was fazed by their physical descriptions at first, Caswell is a Minotaur and Everton a lizard man, but they surprisingly appealed to me very deeply. Both brothers are under a curse that transforms them into beasts until they meet a woman who loves them for who they really are under their terrible physical appearance. Their situation is complex and their POVs allow us to see how much they are affected by this mentally and how they struggle to cope with their realities. And they also struggle with their own relationship siblings, that is a great catch to the curse: only one brother needs to experience true love for him to be returned to his human form while the other needs to remain beast forever. The first thing we learn about Everston is that he has confined Carawell from the castle and that he lures ladies into its walls to try to convince them to love him through sex. This is cruel and insensitive, and Everstone himself knows it, but he doesn’t know what else to do, even though it pains him. So I was a little bit turned down where Lyrical walked straight into his castle and found herself deeply attracted to him sexually. I feared this book was about to become one of the instalust/instalove/no backstory/no depth stories I have been reading lately and already mentioned, and I feel this was confirmed when Lyricial and Everston ended up sleeping together on the first night. However, I did was relieved to see character depth in Everston, which I appreciated. Like I mentioned, he’s deeply insecure, and he doesn’t know what to do with it or with himself to the point of keeping the mirrors of the castle covered so he doesn’t have to see his reflection. We got to see his humanity, and I really liked that he was passionate about books and food and hoarding meaningful objects in a very Howl Pendragon manner. I found myself thinking oh, if this happens I don’t mind it at all. But then he lashes out and scares Lyricial away, who runs into the garden to find Caswell. (Here we have the plot line about welaways, who I find extremely interesting creatures and might delve into them later). Caswell is the pained brother, outcasted and left without a chance to break the curse. As of now, I don’t know a lot about him yet, but I don’t know I like him more than Everston, maybe cause he doesn’t scare me as much (which is surprising because I always love the villain character). I’m excited to learn more about him. What we’ve seen already, that he is a gardener and tends to his plants with passion and love for nature, and that he loves math and logic has me hooked. I think Lyrical will end up with him but I’m not sure yet. As of her, she’s bold and brave and outspoken and smart and loud and it’s one of those characters where I can see a little bit of myself in. I was surprised by her inner thoughts, how quickly she realized what was happening to her body in terms of magic and the lust that pulls her to the brothers. We know that the barriers in the castle don’t affect her and that Carswell thinks she might have some magic in her. We know that she will most likely be the one to free them from the curse. I also know she only stays with one of the brothers. I’m excited to see it all unfold.
May 7th - 55% Everton and Caswell had their first encounter. I’m saddened by Everton actions, I understand the pain he feels and how his insecurity makes him strike without meaning to, but I feel like some of the things he says are unnecessary cruel and can’t be taken aback. Lyrical expresses it herself, saying she wishes he was more careful of his words and of her, giving her value for who she is: their chance at breaking the curse, but also a human being. I wonder what his redemption arc will be. AND THE WALAWAYS! Finally! I knew they would come back in the picture somehow. Turns out they are people who have been cursed by the effects of Fae magic, and all the girls unable to love Everton turn into welaways in the end. Cool!
May 7th - 60% Everston redemption arc has begun, and I’m deeply enjoying it! It’s loving, and believable, and focused on Lyrical’s grace to gift him friendship. Everyday, she sits outside of the kitchen door and tells Everston all about her day with Caswell. She speaks so loving and warmly of him she is able to make Everston reconnect with his feelings for his brother. And even recognize that he is still in love with Andralia, the fae who cursed them. It’s a natural progression, though fast. The duality of the brothers is stablished from the beginning, both beast and man fighting to win over their minds and bodies. Sometimes the beast wins, but the man feels afterwards, repentant and defeated. Lyrical is special somehow, not sure what the twist will be. But her humanity is soft and built on strength and perseverance, and her soul has the beauty this beasts need to rekindle with the man they truly are.
May 7th - 100% I loved this book!!! The ending was perfect! 5 stars.

This story retells the tale as old as time, "Beauty and the Beast." The protagonist is a poor farm girl called Lyrical who has always tried to do her best to keep her family and home afloat after her mother's death. Then, the unimaginable happens as her father sells Lyrical into slavery to settle his debts, and her selfish sisters don't lift a finger to help her. As Lyrical is taken away into a dark and unknown future, her carriage is attacked by a pack of wolves. She can barely survive the encounter until she stumbles upon a seemingly long-forgotten castle. Lyrical meets Caswell and Everston; twin brothers cursed into hideous beasts by the Fae. For almost a hundred years, the brothers have struggled to get rid of the curse, which can only be broken by true love... but only for one of them, as the other is bound to remain a beast forever. As the brothers learn to get to know Lyrical and her, a sordid love tale begins, where more than one heart is at risk of being broken beyond repair.
I particularly liked the spin of the twin brothers in the story, as it increased the question of who would survive and who would remain cursed forever. I appreciated Lyrical as another version of Belle, one of my favourite princesses, due to her intelligence and ambition. However, I would've loved to have seen Lyrical's story develop even further before meeting the princes, as once she gets to the castle, her whole world starts revolving around the pair. The relationship between the twins is realistic and heartbreaking due to everything that happened to them ever since they were cursed. At the same time, it was also satisfactory to know they learned the error of their ways after everything they did as humans. The ending felt a bit rushed, but overall, it was a great retelling and a fine option to get out of a reading slump.
I couldn’t fault it, I’ve come across a fair few BATB retellings and usually they always be the same for me. Generic. Unlikable characters. Predictable and not many changes. THIS however, was the complete opposite of these things. I loved the writing, the characters were likeable, the changes were creative and I was left wondering how this would go.
I couldn’t put it down at times I needed to stop myself as I wanted to savior it for as long as possible. Hands down, for me the BEST beauty and the beast retelling I’ve read this year! 💜🌹.
our heroine (Lyrical) does get with both beasts, but note this isn’t a ‘why choose’ or ‘love triangle’ book. How I’d describe it is that Everston (lizard man) is about lust/pleasure but Caswell (bull man) is about passion. Also for me, the way the book was written I did get an inkling at the beginning of who Lyrical would end up with, and I was happy with who 😏🤌🏻. (the beasts are brothers btw)
This wasn’t a lengthy book, at 27 chapters I felt it wasn’t too long or too short. Maybe an epilogue would’ve been nice but that’s just nitpicking. And if I had to dislike anything? Maybe Andralia (the Fae who cursed the brothers), i think if the book had to be longer it would be to flesh her character out more. But again, it’s not a major complaint, I’m just being critical 🙃…she’s important to the plot but not a main character. So it’s all good.
Those nitpicks doesn’t stop me from giving this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It was a great first time experience from author, I hadn’t read from Rebecca before and I’m glad I picked this.
—what to expect— - cursed brothers (twins) - lizard monster - bull/wolf monster - virgin heroine - monster sex - abuse - broken beasts (tried to k*** themselves) - fantasy setting
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!! This dark, dreamy Beauty and the Beast retelling throws not one but two monstrous suitors into the mix—and it's just as complicated and intense as it sounds. Lyrical is thrust into danger after being sold into slavery, only to escape and stumble into a cursed estate where two very different beastly brothers await. One is brooding and rage-filled, the other seductive with secrets—and both are dangerously drawn to her. The story leans heavily into the gothic with a lush, haunting castle setting and emotionally charged interactions. Lyrical’s resilience and curiosity drive the plot forward as she navigates trauma, trust, and complicated attraction. The steamy elements are vivid but stay within the boundaries of character growth, not just pure indulgence. While the pacing sometimes stutters—likely due to its serialized origin—the emotional stakes and romantic tension keep the story afloat. If you're into morally gray monsters, a heroine with backbone, and a fairytale twisted into something darker and steamier, this one might just be your next indulgent read.
This was a pretty straight forward retelling of the classic tale, with a slight twist. Twin brothers turned monsters, cursed by a Fae princess for tricking her, are confined to their castle. Only women of a marriageable age with an unattached heart may find the castle and its inhabitants, both vying to win true love first so that they can change back into a human man.
Everston, believing that he can fuck women into love, enchants the garden roses to lead the women to him in the castle - the castle he has magically barred his brother, Caswell, from entering. Caswell lives within the gardens, watching as the women run to his brother and never return. He tends his plants in loneliness until one day, Lyrical enters the gardens and palace and turns the brothers lives upside down.
This one had fewer steamy scenes than her other books have had (based on the ones I've read), so keep that in mind if that's mostly what you're here for!
Well this one flew in right under my radar and seeing as I'm absolutely obsessed with Rebecca Kenney that really upset me. I digress, however, this was exactly the surprise I needed when I needed it most.
Considering I was also a bit reluctant given the plotline I'm doubly surprised. I never should have been worried though because Rebecca is always good to me. I fully believe she could include all of my least favorite tropes into a book and find a way to make me love it.
If you're tired of the same old Beauty and the Beast retelling, if you're into monsters and beasts, if you like plot with your spice, this is the one for you pick up right now. Seriously. Right now.
Depending on how much time one has, this story can be read within a day. The story progresses quickly, but is still decently written. It definitely has spicy scenes but it doesn't overshadow the plot. I will say it moved a little too rapidly, especially towards the end. Some scenes were glossed over when it could have been delved into deeper or written in a more detailed way. I don't wish to give spoilers, so I will simply say the breaking of the curse was rushed and confusing. As if the story took a quick left turn straight down a cliff. It's great for a weekend pastime or those who crave a quick taste of spice. An interesting take on the beauty and the beast story, though certainly a welcomed one.
I loved this book. It was much more sweetly romantic than the others, if that makes sense. Beauty and the Beast has always been a favorite of mine, and as one of my first retellings of this story, I was not disappointed. Everston and Caswell, twins both tortured by their curse, guilty and ashamed, lonely and broken. Then Lyrical comes and flips their world upside down. Shes sweet and spicy with the biggest heart. Everston, the powerful sorcerer, seductive Prince. Caswell, the quiet, intelligent, gentle Royal heir. But who does she chose cuz she does have to pick? Everston, the snake/lizard/dragon beast with the forked tongue and tail? Or Casswell, the minotaur/wolf beast with the giant peen? Read the story and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
The psycho fae princess’s POV chapter was a weird one to read. She is such an unlikeable character and everything about her felt so contrived, that she was what nearly spoiled an otherwise beautifully written story for me.
But I want to say that it was such a pleasant surprise when I found out on Twitter this author had made this book available on KU, I had to drop whatever else I was reading to read this first. I wasn’t disappointed in the end, despite my gripe with the fae princess character, because Kenney never fails to tell a gripping story with vivid world building and a heroine you can’t help but root for.
For all the girls who loved beast before he changed back
Really interesting and unique take on a classic story. I loved the characters and their clear flaws and development throughout.
Definitely lots of monsters and spice so if you like those, you'll enjoy this! The pacing was a little odd, and I felt like there were time jumps to speed the story along and I would have liked them filled in more so we got to see the relationships build in a more natural way.
The reason I knocked off one star was because I noticed a couple of typos which did pull me out of the story a little, but other than that, I loved it 😁
I did not like this as much as I liked the other books I've read of her. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this type of story, but this is what I have settled with.
Lyrical was an interesting female lead. I felt she just took everything in stride and like not be afraid of literal beasts when she was being chased by other beasts and had witnessed what they had done first hand. So for her to take the to male lead in stride, was a little unbelievable. And how the intimate scenes came up, it didn't make sense that it just happened. Like girl... But whatever, for the plot. I did like her choice of partner in the end.
This author does not disappoint. Very well written and unable to put down. May not be everyone's cup of tea as there is some spice between human and beast. I knew who the MC would pick as soon as 1 brother said something about another character and I was right when I read that part. Happy ending though for both brothers.
A dark, monster romance retelling of Beauty and the Beast with two cursed brothers? Yes, please! This story leans into the darker side of the classic tale, with rich magic, a well-developed backstory for the characters, and a satisfying happy ending. The rivalry between the two brothers adds tension and conflict, keeping the stakes high throughout. With a blend of enchantment, danger, and romance, it’s perfect for fans of dark fairy tale retellings.
This was a nice take on the beauty and the beast theme with plenty of spice. I really enjoyed the two beast instead of one. I also enjoyed the character growth and plot. If you like fae, beast/monsters, magic, curses and spice I highly recommend this book.
I enjoyed this book, it got cringy at times but in all it was good. I wish it would have built up instead of going right for it with the first brother. The book felt a little rushed but in all I would read it again and most likely will.
Some people will love this story. But it wasn’t my vibe. It’s an interesting twisty retelling with some spicy scenes but I guess I finally found a book that made me feel awkward because the beasts were a bit too beasty for my taste.
I DID NOT LIKE THIS BOOK. I DID NOT LIKE THE MMCS AT ALL AND WHEN WE FOUND OUT WHY THEY GOT CURSED????! FOR LITERALLY SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A WOMAN AS A PRANK??? RFK WHY DID YOU DO THAT? I don’t care if she forgave them, that was such a weird choice to make.

I wavered between a 4 and a 5 and ultimately went with a 5 simply because despite some of my issues with the plot I genuinely enjoyed it and the relationship building between 2 of the MCs.
