Some days, Nora Malone feels like the grief from losing her husband is starting to become manageable. Other days, navigating the big emotions from her young boys, breaks her heart all over again.
While trying to get accustomed to life as a family of three, Nora finds herself face to face with someone from her past – Luca D’Marco. He was her first love, but also the one who walked away all those years ago without any explanation.
Never let an old flame burn you twice, advice Nora’s heard before, and probably should follow. But when anonymous bouquets of lilies appear, shrouding her fragile family in darkness, Luca is the spark that tempts her to let her guard down enough to let him back into her life.
With each flower left, Nora’s unease grows. No longer the symbol of sympathy they once held after her husband’s death, they’ve become a warning she can’t seem to decipher. Can Nora figure out how Luca, lilies, and her own secrets are connected before it’s too late to keep her family safe?
In this suspense-filled debut novel, author Andrea Lawless reminds readers that there’s danger in keeping secrets.
**This book deals with tough issues and is written for adults.
Andrea Lawless lives in the midwest with her husband, two kids, two dogs and two cats in a home filled with lots of chaos and love. When she isn’t writing or at her job in elementary education, she spends as much time as she can in close proximity to the Great Lakes.
This book is romantic, suspenseful, and heartbreaking… it’s beautiful and I can’t wait to read the next one!! I love the details she puts into the characters (it reminded me of colleen Hoovers character details 🤩)
It took me a minute to get into the book (but I had a lot going on and didn’t have any time to get any reading in) so it sat on my nightstand for a couple months. I was about 1/4 of the way through, when I picked it back up a couple nights ago when I was sick and had some extra time finally and I finished it in 2 days. I couldn’t stop and now I NEED to know what is going to happen in the second one Andrea! 😉
Andrea Lawless captured me page after page in this book. This is not typically what I gravitate towards in terms of genre, but Andrea had definitely opened my horizons to exploring new genres! The story telling was brilliant - I could feel the characters experiences as if I was there. I can not wait for the next book in this series to come out!
I was lucky enough to get an ARC for this book from the author and am making an unsolicited review.
This book is everything a romance/suspense reader is looking for with mystery sprinkled in. The writing is great and everything is laid out in a way that it’s impossible to put down! I loved everything about it and can’t wait for the second book to be released. This is an author I’ll definitely be watching.
I did not want to put this book down! Andrea does such a great job of drawing you in with the relatable romance of a first love but then she’s adds in suspense and mystery to keep you following. She provides a playlist/soundtrack to listen to throughout the book, which is something I have never experienced! The soundtrack really adds to experiencing the feelings of the story. I cannot wait to read the next book of the series!
Andrea has been talking about writing a book since we were kids. To say that I’m proud of my bestie is an understatement. I read my copy chapter by chapter, as it was written. To hold the published book and turn the pages brings with it a whole new level of joy.
My own bias aside, this book grabs hold and doesn’t let go. Andrea is a storyteller with a talent for weaving emotion into her words that few can replicate. This book twists, turns, and leaves you craving more pages. Grab a coffee, turn up the accompanying Spotify playlist (page 307!) and get hooked on what I’m certain is only the beginning of an unforgettable series.
If it wasn't for a husband nagging me to stop reading, I would have read this book in it's entirety within a 12-hour span! The suspense is just enough to have you turning pages while you cook dinner, but never the predictable cheesiness of a Netflix movie. I'm truly not a reader, often reading puts me to sleep or I don't get into the book, but this had me hooked! I'm excited for the next book!!
I was hooked from the start. I did not anticipate the challenges Nora would have to face and I loved that. I saw a bit of myself in parts of the book and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a love/suspense type of read. Looking forward to the next one!
I was not a reader. I know the author of this book but didn't purchase it since I wasn't a reader. So another friend gifted me the book and I decided to read it. I read it in less than a week and loved it!! Now I'm a reader! Thanks Andrea and Debi!
Suspense, romance, grief, and more! Chapter 36 had me on the edge of my seat! Page 283 had me in tears. The cliff hanger at the end was perfect. Excited to see where Nora goes next in her journey of strength and healing. Really enjoyed the dual POV chapters and even the flash backs written by the MC in her journals.
