Royal Hearts #2

A Royal Competition

Rate this book
One prince. Twelve women.
A broadcasted dating competition where only one will become queen.
Prepare to be royally entertained.

Prince Liam was never supposed to be king. Now he has ninety days to find a bride or lose the throne. In his final moments, the king shared one last wish—that Liam would star as the lead in a royal dating show and marry the woman of his choosing. Even though he has vowed to never love again, Liam reluctantly agrees to take on the role, hoping to gain the support of the Wistonian people. But then the one person who has the power to break down his walls shows up as a contestant in the competition.

Lady Charlotte never planned to return to the Wistonian Palace. And she definitely didn’t plan to court the man she has secretly been pining over for years. In a competition where most women would do anything to win, she simply hopes to survive with her heart still intact. But things never seem to go according to plan.

A Royal Competition is Book 2 in the Royal Hearts series. This is a sweet, closed-door romance and can be read as a standalone, but it would be most enjoyed after reading A Royal Obligation.

Bare with me for this review. I meant to review it right after I finished, but life got in the way and then I got sick, so now I'm attempting to write this while sick. I really enjoyed this book. I had the privilege to beta read A Royal Obligation last year and then reread it when it was released in October. In that book, I fell in love with Liam and Charlotte's characters and have been rooting for their happily ever after ever since.

I'm not going to go into too much detail about the plot because I don't want to give away the ending of book one if you haven't read it yet, but let's just say this one involves a televised dating show. So if you love a book with a reality dating show, definitely check this out.

I loved seeing the characters from the previous book, especially Wadsworth. I loved that Amanda kept with the theme of including letters in this one. This was a very easy read that had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions. The mystery kept me invested in the story to see if my theories were correct. I really enjoyed this one and can't wait to read book 3!

Read this if you love:
- Friends-to-lovers
- Reality dating shows
- Forced proximity
- Sweet/clean contemporary romance
- Royal characters
- Mystery
- Letters

Thank you to Amanda Schimmoeller for sending me an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Clean and sweet contemporary royalty romances are kind of my guilty pleasure.

This particular series has been cute so far. I think I liked this one even more than the first book. The televised competition aspect was handled well, without the icky drama of a guy leading on several girls that often happens when that trope is used.

A Royal Competition by Amanda Schimmoeller
Book 2 Royal Hearts Series

-closed door
-kissing only
-trigger warning: recent loss of parent

This book was so fantastic.
In order to ascend to the throne recently given up by his older brother Prince Liam must marry soon. What better way then through a Bachelor style dating competition where he can find the right wife and his people can get to know him better?

Fans of The Selection Series, The Bachelor or Royal Romances in general will love this one.
It's friends to more perfection!

I loved the actual competition itself, the support/sneakiness of the girls in the competition is well written and I love that there's a slight mystery thrown in.

The banter and support between Liam and Charlotte is absolutely wonderful. I knew from the end of a Royal Obligation that they were going to steal my heart. (In fact I instantly messaged the author to tell her I was in tears about it and her response is why the first kiss in this book will always be my favorite first kiss of any couple!!)

This book can be read as a standalone and I'll understand if you do because I wouldn't want to wait to read it, but if you have better self control then I do don't miss the first book in the series. It will be well worth it I promise!!

Thank you so much to the author for providing me with an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review

I had the privilege of being on the ARC team for A Royal Competition by @authoramandaschimmoeller and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Liam is to become king in just a few short months and is put on the dating show he watched for years with his family before his mother passed away. Liam, his brother, Barrett, and their father have carried on the tradition of watching since then. Liam will have many opportunities on this dating show to go on individual (sometimes group) dates and plan fun activities with 12 woman selected to be a part. Each of these woman are of noble blood from different areas surround Liam's kingdom of Wistonia. I enjoyed all the televised scenes! The host of the show kind of reminded me of Ceasar Flickerman from Hunger Games.

The friendships and family relationships that Amanda has created in her story was fantastic. I loved seeing Charlotte become friends with a few of the woman competing for Liam's heart! The mystery Amanda weaves into all that's going on was also very well written! I couldn't figure it all out!

I loved seeing Liam and Charlotte and their chemistry unfold on the page! I loved that they were already friends before the whole competition started! They were always there to help each other out and were such a great support to one another when it came to dealing with pain from the past or trying to figure out the unknown that the future can bring!

All of the side characters were great, too, but I especially loved the royal hairdresser! She was such a fun lady with her crazy style and her changing hair colors. She was always there to help whenever a disaster involving hair struck!

I loved reading the first book, A Royal Obligation, in this series by Amanda and couldn't wait for A Royal Competition. It was such a fun addition to the series! These books have great themes of loving yourself and those that surround you. They are fantastic for fans of royal romances with great characters and fantastic family connections!

All thoughts and opinions are my own! Look for A Royal Competition when it releases in less than a month!!

I can’t stop thinking about this utterly adorable story & already am itching for a reread! 😍

I loved Charlotte in book 1 & love her even more here, especially with how she makes friends with some of the other girls in the contest!

Liam is a total sweetheart. Seriously. And his brother banter with Barrett is everything! 😊

There’s a perfect balance of sweet childhood friends romance, comedy, and a touch of mystery. It’s enchanting, truly!

And a few things I just have to mention:
•Wadsworth the amiable butler is pure gold 🥺
•The cuff links 😭
•The pond scene—I died laughing. (Princess Diaries fans, this one’s for you but make it friends instead of enemies 😂)

Gosh!! I don’t know what to say. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! It was such a fun and entertaining read. Imagine a mix of the Bachelor, a little bit of The Courtship, and then a sinister plot to top it all off.

I flew through this one once I started. It was amazing to get more insight into Liam and Charlotte. In the first book, I had question marks for both characters. They were secondary characters before and I couldn’t grasp their thoughts and purpose when we read through Barrett and Jules’s POVs. Reading through Liam and Charlotte’s eyes made a whole lot more sense. 😅

Things I loved:
Paintball
The one liners
The grand gesture
Bookish references
That first kiss—and all the others after
The lake scene 😍

A Royal Competition is one you’ll want to pick up if you like any sort of royal romance with Bachelor vibes. I really enjoyed it!!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book had a very different vibe than the first one but I still absolutely loved it!! Liam’s fears and emotions were so relatable and I loved him, and Charlotte was such a great character. I love how well they complimented each other! 😍 The show host had total Caesar Flickerman vibes 🤣🤣 Also can we appreciate women befriending women and not all having cat fights and pettiness?? 👏🏻 Like obviously there was a couple “mean girls”, but I adored Charlotte, Rosalie, and Sianna’s friendship!! All in all A Royal Competition was a great, clean read for someone looking for a modern day royal romance with a satisfying HEA! 😆😍

Super cute sequel to A Royal Obligation; thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC.

Liam only has 90 days to marry, so he can ascend to the throne and become King. In order to find the lucky lady, he hosts a “Bachelor” style dating show at the palace with 12 women.

While I enjoyed watching Charlotte and Liam fall in love and watching the sabotage of the competition unfold, this book was just very middle of the road for me.

OH HOW SWEET.

BLOG || INSTAGRAM

That’s the vibe of this whole book. It is SWEET. If you need something that doesn’t have a lot of angst with two people who are clearly into each other, pick this one up. I appreciate that it never came off as a love triangle or anything. You know the endgame from the beginning and it was cute watching them realize how much they loved each other.

I adored Liam and Charlotte. I liked their personalities and strengths. Both exhibited many good qualities and I liked seeing them separate as much as together. Honestly I could have used even more time of them together because I liked the banter and tender ways they look after the other.

There’s a little bit of drama, definitely some reminiscent pieces of The Selection Series and Princess Diaries 2 (my personal fav), and some good kissing scenes too. This was my first by Schimmoeller, but won’t be my last. I have my eyes on the third book in this series!!

Note: I read this without having read the first and didn’t have any issues!

Overall audience notes:
- Modern Royal Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: low
- Trigger/Content Warnings: grief surrounding loss of parents

Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Liam & Charlotte’s points of view with a few chapters from the points of view of the Rogues (a group of unknown characters against Liam becoming king) & Giovanni (the show’s host)

– Liam still grieves the death of his parents (both died in different incidences; neither happen on page)

– there is a scene where a character threatens another with a knife

Review:

If you haven’t read any of Amanda’s Royal Hearts books yet, be sure to add them to your TBR soon! After having read A Royal Obligation, I was excited to see that Charlotte & Liam would be getting a happily ever after next! I was amazed by their story (which we really didn’t get majority of until their book now) and how Amanda wove their past and present together in the chapters. Liam was funny in trying to avoid his feelings for Charlotte and failing horribly at doing so. Charlotte was so sweet to her friends and was willing to stand up when something was incorrect. I also loved her back and forth in believing that what everyone else saw (they both like each other) was true and that it was just her imagination that Liam liked her back. Some of my favorite scenes in this book included: Giovanni’s point of view, sprinklers, paintball, a pond, game night, Liam’s brother’s wedding, and the end part of Founding Day.

Summary:

Liam is now next in line for the throne when his brother abdicates in order to marry for love. Never in his wildest dreams did Liam actually expect to become king, let alone the way he had to step into the role. After his father passed away, Liam was thrust into a timetable for marriage in order to truly attain the job. And before his father passed, Liam agreed to hold a marriage competition show like the one his family used to watch together with his late mother in order to fulfill the marriage requirement. Liam isn’t looking to marry for love for worry that his heart will be broken once again and believes he’ll be safe from that fate. Until the one woman who could break his heart walks in as the last contestant in his marriage competition…

Charlotte didn’t expect to return to the Wistonian Palace after Liam’s brother chose her assistant & friend over her for a wife. But when her friend steps in to help Charlotte find a husband in order for Charlotte to gain her inheritance, that’s exactly what Charlotte does. Because at the Wistonian Palace, the new Crown Prince is holding a televised dating competition to find a wife and new queen before ascending the throne. And the Crown Prince is none other than Liam, the same man that Charlotte has been secretly pining for years. Charlotte isn’t too sure if she’ll gain Liam’s heart or break her own in the competition with the variety of noble women surrounding her, but hopes that no matter the choice Liam will be happy…

A Royal Competition is the second book in the Royal Hearts series. I had not yet personally read book one and found that I was able to enjoy this one with no problems at all. That said, it does take place after the first one, with that book setting up the events that will happen in this one... so there are definitely some major spoilers there when read out of order. As such, it's probably best to enjoy in order!

In fact, it's really difficult to talk about this book without giving spoilers to book one, so I'll say this--- THIS book was absolutely fantastic, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys royal romance. If you plan on reading A Royal Obligation and would like to do so WITHOUT the spoilers, stop reading this review right now and just go grab it!

Now... let's talk a little more about the story!

If you were to combine The Bachelor with Princess Diaries 2 plus add in a little bit of a mystery--- you'd get this book! And I adored every single minute. After his bother has abdicated the throne, Liam finds himself with 90 days to get married before he can become king. To find a wife (and honor his deceased mother), a dating reality competition is set up. I am honestly not the biggest fan of reality dating shows... like seriously cannot stand them! As such, I was a little unsure how I would feel about this book... but honestly, the whole competition was handled really well, and I found myself not minding it one bit! I loved Liam and Charlotte's characters and couldn't help but root for them to get their happily ever after... and it was so worth the wait!

There was a bit of a mystery thrown in that I had not been expecting at all, and it took what would have been a good story anyway and took it to the next level for me. I couldn't help but read on to figure out what would happen next!

A Royal Competition is a closed-door romance, with swoon worthy kisses but nothing beyond that. It is free from language and a very clean read.

**I received an ARC for consideration, all opinions are my own.

Prince Liam of Wistonia is on the verge of becoming king following the recent death of his father. The problem is that their country's constitution requires him to be married before he can ascend the throne. If he can't find a wife within the next 90 days, he'll have to forfeit the crown to his cousin James. With few options aside from an arranged marriage, Liam agrees to host a televised dating competition in which he'll choose his future queen from among 12 candidates selected for him by the King's Council.

Royal circles on the continent of Fenimore are small, so it's not a surprise for Liam to see a few familiar faces when he meets his prospective wives on the first night of the competition. What does come as a surprise is learning that his childhood friend, Lady Charlotte of Findorra, is among them. Like Liam, Charlotte only has three months to find a spouse; her father has decreed that she'll lose her inheritance if she isn't married by her 30th birthday. The charities she supports depend on her donations, so Charlotte has vowed to do everything in her power to secure her inheritance. Secretly, however, she has another motivation for entering the competition: she's had a crush on Liam for years but never believed he could return her feelings. Liam's heart has been locked away since a love affair gone wrong years before, but could Charlotte be the one that holds the key?

Liam and Charlotte's childhood friends to more romance was utter perfection. I loved the hints of intrigue involved in the dating competition as well as how Liam's relationship with Charlotte evolved over the course of the story. Their interactions were so cute and playful, which made it easy to see how differently he felt when he was spending time with her versus the other candidates. Also, the author did a fantastic job of world building in creating the fictional countries and continent, giving this story a true fantasy/fairy tale feel.

I highly recommend "A Royal Competition" for all sweet/closed-door contemporary romance fans. It was the first book I've read by this author but won't be the last.

“We made it work not only because we loved each other, but because we continued to choose to love each other. Day after day. Even when things got hard.”
👑
The second book in the Royal Hearts series follows Liam, who is becoming king because of the loss of his dad and other circumstances you find out in the first book ☺️. To find a queen, Liam goes on a reality show his family used to watch together. He is surprised to find Charlotte as one of the contenders, and his instinct is to get rid of her quickly because she is the one that holds the most risk to his heart. As the competition unfolds, Liam and Charlotte grow in their relationship to the point they both have to decide if they can take be brave enough to risk their hearts.
👑
I loved this story so much! Liam grew so much throughout the story and I rooted for him as he tried to find his way! I loved his and his brother’s relationship and how they leaned on and supported each other. Charlotte was such a wonderful heroine- she was so real and kind. I enjoyed her friendships and the way she was a safe place for Liam! I also loved finding out more about their past and how they had looked out for each other throughout their relationship 🥰
👑
This is such a wonderful royal romance and I would highly recommend it! This author creates characters and stories with such heart and warmth, I enjoy every minute of reading them!
👑
This is the second in this series, and you could read it alone, but I would recommend reading the first story for both enjoyment and to get background!

“Now, this is the Charlotte I’ve been waiting to see,” he said.
She raised an eyebrow at him.
“The real one beneath that mask you try so hard to keep up.”

Liam + Charlotte = a fantastic Royal Romcom!
This was such a fun and beautiful story! I was very excited to read more about Liam and Charlotte after reading A Royal Obligation and I loved their story just as much as I thought I would! The whole set up with the competition to be Liam’s bride was very fun and fresh, and I also loved seeing Liam prepare to take the throne when he wasn’t trained his whole life to do so. He is not your typical Prince Charming….but he is probably even more charismatic! Seeing the relationship and banter between him and Barrett was one of my favorite parts of this book. I loved the sibling dynamic and really hope we see more of them together in future books.
Another thing I loved in this book was how so many of the women formed friendships and supported each other. It was great to see the genuine affection they had for each other and the determination to be friends no matter the outcome of the competition.
This book is a true gem, and you are going to want to read as soon as it comes out! This book has similar vibes as The Selection by Kiera Cass, but not dystopian. You will love it do you like:

Oh, how I adore this beautiful story!! From the first chapter, I was drawn in and never wanted to leave the magical place of Wistonia! This was my first read by @authoramandaschimmoeller and now I need to go read book 1 in this series!! Another auto-read author to add to my list!! And isn’t this cover just beautiful?!!

Liam, dreamy Liam!! He was every girl’s knight-in-shining armor! Funny, charming, handsome and tender-hearted! I loved how delicate he was with Charlotte!

Charlotte was a girl I would be to be gal pals with! She wasn’t afraid to do adventurous things and was trust-worthy and so caring! She has become one of my favorite heroines!

The dating competition was a fun trope! I loved the mystery/sabotage element that was added! I was on the edge of my seat trying to guess who the bad guys were!

This book was so good, I finished it in one day. Prince Liam has loved in the past and has been heartbroken by being used. He has decided never to love again. However in order to become King he has 90 days to find a wife. What better way to do that than on a tv show with 12 eligible women. What he doesn’t expect is for one of the women to be his childhood friend Lady Charlotte, the woman he has always had some feelings for. Lady Charlotte has had feelings for Liam as well and hopes she doesn’t leave heartbroken. As the competition goes on Liam tries to ignore his feelings for Charlotte and not pick love but will love win in the end?

This book was great! I absolutely loved it! I have not read book 1 in the series but it definitely stands on its own. You know stuff happened in book one but you don’t feel like book two is missing information, which is nice. The writing flows really nicely and holds your interest really well. To add to the fun there is a mystery element. Someone is after the throne but who? Of course you will find out when you read it. I really like Liam and Charlotte. They are both great characters! They are so sweet. I am hoping there will be a book with Sienna because I liked her as well. Overall great read and I definitely recommend!

Review✨ Such an enjoyable read. Definitely got some Princess Diaries vibes with the mishaps during the competition and the the Kingdom of Wistonia! Crown Prince Liam has to win over his people as they become accustomed to the idea of him becoming King since his elder Brother stepped down. But Liam cannot become the King unless he is married, enter in the Live Dating Competition with 12 women! Charlotte has known Liam for many years and harbors a secret crush, she was thrown into the competition last minute and was the most supportive of Liam throughout the competition. We get to enjoy a little mystery in this story as well and sabotage is on the menu (the Baking Date). Wondering whom the Rogues were was and added bonus we didn’t know we needed. I couldn’t put the book down near the end because there were so many twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. Some of my favorite parts were: the wonderful friendships made, the flashback to when Charlotte stood up for Liam when he was younger, the Waltzes, the Garden Date and the Pond Scene! My favorite quote: “You are more than enough. Your worth isn’t defined by what anyone else says about you…” Thank you so much @authoramandaschimmoeller for the ARC copy! This book has:
Dual POV
Friends to more
Royalty
Reality dating show
Clean romance

I really enjoyed reading Liam and Charlotte’s story. I loved Charlotte in A Royal Obligation and was so happy that she was able to get her happy ever after in A Royal Competition.

I loved Liam and how he just wanted so badly to be the best person he could be. I can't imagine how hard it would be to try and pick a wife during a dating competition, but I felt that he did really well in being able to get to know the other competitors and who would suit him best. He kept thinking all he wanted was a marriage of convenience, but I am so glad he was able to listen to his heart and marry for love.

I loved how Charlotte was a kind person through and through. I'm glad that the competition didn't change who she was or how she acted.

This is the 2nd book in the Royal Hearts series. It can be read as a stand alone, although getting to know Barrett and Jules in A Royal Obligation and seeing them in this book was just the icing on the cake.

Thanks to the author for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again… Royal Romance books are seriously one of the best kinds of books!!! And Amanda has written some of my favorites ever! “A Royal Competition,” blew me away! I loved being back in this world for Liam’s story!

Liam has 90 days to find a wife. Enter a televised dating competition, featuring many eligible bachelorettes, one handsome prince, and lots of fun dates! I honestly loved everything about this book!! Liam and Charlotte were so enjoyable to follow along with. It just felt so right!! Some things I have to mention that I especially loved was the paintball date, all the yummy treats, and of course seeing Barrett and Jules again!

There were lots of exciting events that took place too that I won’t mention but, you guys!!! It’s SO good and SO magical!! ✨ After reading this series so far, if I could go some where fictional it’d be Findora, easily!! This book releases soon, on June 26th! I promise you won’t want to miss this one!!

A Royal Competition is book two in Amanda Schimmoeller’s Royal Hearts series. It is a fun contemporary royal romance with princess diaries, the selection, and Austenland vibes!

Although I really enjoyed the first book in this series, A Royal Obligation, it really doesn’t hold a candle to the second book. I absolutely loved getting to know Liam and Charlotte more and seeing them fall head over heels for each other!

Charlotte is so easy to relate to! She loves flowers and reading, she’s elegant and confident and friendly. She has a great balance of being introverted and extroverted, feminine and strong, and overall is just well rounded, yet she still has her own insecurities. Liam has a strong desire to be his best self but doesn’t really know how. He fumbles a lot but has so much support he never truly fails. I love that he is smart, kind, flirty, funny and seems like the kind of person who could get along with anyone. But I also love that he doesn’t tolerate people who are unkind or disingenuous. Put them together and you have quite the power couple!

I loved seeing Charlotte and Liam flirt and play together, but I also loved seeing them support and encourage each other. No matter the scenario they are a match made in heaven! I loved Liam’s nickname for Charlotte, I absolutely LOVED the paintball scene, the kiss on the balcony and the proposal!

I really enjoyed that this story had more than just a romantic plot line. I loved seeing Liam and Barrett grow closer after losing their dad. I loved seeing the girls develop friendships. I liked seeing how much both Liam and Charlotte are like Liam’s mom and how Liam was able to use his mom’s example to find the best partner for himself.

This seriously is such a fun story! I laughed at Raina’s ridiculousness, I cheered for the characters, I swooned over the kiss and the proposal. I absolutely loved the character growth, the fun plot, and the little details that made the characters relatable and lovable.

I had the privilege of receiving a digital ARC copy of A Royal Competition! This has not affected my review, this is just my opinion.

A quote from the Goodreads bio of Amanda:
‘’As a child, Amanda Schimmoeller had two loves: writing and Disney. She now combines the two by writing stories of true love, broken hearts, and happily ever afters.’’

This is also a perfect summary for her ‘Royal Hearts’ series. This is book two, and while you can read it as a standalone, I would recommend reading book one first!!

Although I’m personally not the biggest fan of TV dating shows, this is definitely one I would love to watch! Combine it with some Princess Diaries vibes and you have this adorable book!

I love that it has a dual POV! That makes the story even sweeter. The writing style is easy to read, and the story flows nicely.

Liam has a bit of a reputation, but he had his heart broken in the past and is determined to never love again. So, when he needs to marry in order to get the throne, his head is set on a marriage of convenience. But his heart clearly has other ideas.
His fears and emotions made him a relatable character. He’s very down to earth but at the same time also distinguished and charismatic.

Charlotte is a kind and caring woman. She really has everyone’s best interests at heart and is supportive. I really liked that she made friends during the competition with some of the other women.

Liam and Charlotte have known each other since childhood, they harbor feelings for each other, without knowing it’s mutual.
They have good chemistry and their relationship didn’t feel rushed with the shared memories and history. It’s really sweet!

It was also a lot of fun to read about the dates and the competition elements.

There was a bit of a mystery thrown in and although I figured out who was behind it pretty quickly, the not knowing for sure part added a little extra to the story.

This is a royally sweet, funny and heartwarming book with a little suspense.

I never realize how much I enjoy a Royal themed story until I read one again 😂. There’s something about a modern setting mixed with tradition PLUS some fresh takes on tradition that makes things extra fun!

I confess I haven’t read the first book in this series, but that in no way was an issue going into this story. I wasn’t lost and it definitely can work as a stand alone. That being said, I enjoyed Liam and Charlotte’s story!!! I’d describe it a bit like The Selection mixed with Princess Diaries 2. Which I certainly won’t complain about! I really enjoyed the competition and the individual and group dates. There was a smidge of mystery and villainous plots, lots of beautiful dresses and delicious food, plenty of swoony situations and heartfelt moments throughout! A very nice story overall. I will absolutely have to catch up on book one now! And I can’t wait for Rosalie’s story next!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. I was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Royal Competition is the sequel to A Royal Obligation, which I loved so much. After his brother found true love and abdicated the throne, Prince Liam now finds himself in line to be king. And he has 90 days to find a wife! Sadly, his father passes away, but his last wish was for Liam to be on a royal dating show and find his wife there. Lady Charlotte is one of the contestants and never thought she'd return to the castle for love after it didn't work out last time.

This book was perfection! If you love reality dating shows, it had "all the things" that you would expect to see: catty women, friendships formed, alliances, group dates, one on one dates, etc. There was even an element of danger as someone worked behind the scenes to take down Liam.

The banter and sweet moments between Liam and Charlotte were so fantastic. You will laugh, swoon, and melt! All signs of a five star read in my opinion!

Thanks to @authoramandaschimmoeller for an advanced copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A royally entertaining read! This is a great follow up to the author’s debut novel, A Royal Obligation. Both of these books are difficult to put down once you start reading them!

Things that I liked:
Dual POV
Brotherly banter
Secret Prince Society
The cufflinks
The letters
Dating show “Royally Yours”
Giovanni
Strong female friendships
The sabotage
Laugh out loud moments
The one-liners (“Not those words you dummy.”)
Childhood friends to lovers
The pond scene
The balcony kiss
Liam facing one of his greatest fears to chase after Charlotte
The mysterious ‘Rogues’ twist - I love that the author described those who were involved but didn’t tell us who they were. Left such a great element of suspense, another interesting inner-story, to this beautiful love story.
And the bonus of Barrett & Jules wedding

Anyone who loves a well written romance story should look no further (and also pick up book 1 of this series if you haven’t read it)! A wholesome, fantastic clean read. I am in my late 50’s and loved this book. Didn’t want to put it down!

This was my first book by Amanda Schimmoeller and I have to say it was such a cute and fun read!

Prince Liam is about to become king, but before he can be crowned he must have a wife. The only problem? He doesn’t even have a girlfriend. Known as The Royal Heartbreaker, not only does he have to find a wife, he needs to repair his public image.

What better way to do that then hold a competition to find your queen!

Charlotte, already rejected by Liam’s brother, has found herself a part of this royal competition. These two friends have known each other for years and I loved seeing how their friendship became more.

I really enjoyed all of the flashback scenes that let us see more of Liam and Charlotte. They are a truly sweet couple.

If you love

Royal romances
Dating shows
Friends-to-more
Lots of flirting
Sweet moments
Kisses
A bit of mystery
Happily ever after

This had a bit of a contemporary regency (if you know what I mean) with the dancing and all they ladies vying for the most eligible man.

A Royal Competition is part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone.

LIGHTS 💡. CAMERA 🎥 . ACTION 🎬. Can I please get a movie for this series omggggg!!! When I say this series is one of my top books with Royalty 🤴🏼 👸🏼in it, I mean it! It’s so good! Like a clean Selection 💃🏼 and less embarrassing Bachelor 🌹 ! Amanda S. is a talented, kind, and wonderful author of this series and I 10/10 recommend!!

Charlotte! What a QUEEN 👑 (pun very much intended) She’s such a role model. Always kind, straightforward, and true to herself. A true lady 💅🏼and champion for Liam.

Liam. The Royal heartbreaker 💔 and all around flirt who secretly is harboring hurt over a lost trust. Not only is he scared of trusting people, he’s scared people will learn that there is one contestant he has been attracted 😍 to since he was a teenager, someone who saved him from being bullied. An angel. (Yes we all know who it is).

The chemistry 🧪 , yearning😍, tension🥵, and the super fun dates 🎨+🔫and events they go to! It’s truly such a fun read. There’s also a subplot of some people trying to steal 🥷the crown, and that added another flavor that was absolutely perfect (as long as it isn’t strawberry 🍓 iykyk).

10/10 recommend this book for a fun, sweet, Royal read!!!
