Sex, Lies and Alibis

Rate this book
Following hot on the heels of the bestsellers Sex, Lies & Stellenbosch and Sex, Lies, Declassified, the much-anticipated final instalment in Eva Mazza's “sex-trilogy” promises to be December’s hottest read. Like the most addictive of TV series, Alibis, with its many twist and turns will have readers turning pages to discover what finally happens to Jen and the rest of the sometimes sexy, and always dysfunctional cast from Stellenbosch, with its penchant for impropriety and unapologetic wealth.

Gripping to the last page. The unpredictable plot of this trilogy ensured that it was a page turner.

Eva has not only given us a glimpse into the city that most of us envy. What she does is also expose to us the vulnerabilities and insight into the problems skirting the community.

What I loved was that my head already created specific voices for each character - especially Gladys in her fierceness.

And just like that, the Stellenbosch saga draws to a close....what a wild ride it has been!!!
Eva Mazza is a great storyteller who brought such diverse characters to life, some you can't help but adore and others that were so detestable you just wanted to slap them upside the head. I ate up all the drama, the mystery and the chaos.
Eva gifted me with a copy of this book cause I could not find it anywhere after I finished the second book and I am so thankful for her kindness. We need more stories from you mama x

Much like the first two books its a page turner. Eva Mazza knows how to write a cliffhanger. She better write another one, it can't end like this.

I read the Paperback edition.
The characters were well developed, with depth and flaws. The different challenges faced by the privileged and working class are skilfully highlighted. Amazing how true this is - more money, more problems.

I look forward to reading the 1st 2 in the trilogy once I can lay my hands on them.

A glossary at the end of the book would have been nice. I had to look up a lot of Afrikaans words and expressions.

Hettie Trahms: "Deliciously steaming & shockingly scandalous" is the heading of the summary on the back page of the book. It's absolutely true. The third book in a series of three it describes the life of a woman escaping a troubled life at home. Astonishing how much and easy sex was done. Definitely a book for grown ups. Story is interesting. Really reminds you of a Netflix series with a cliffhanger ending at the end of each episode.

Another great book in this trilogy. It had even more twists and turns than the other two and I couldn't put it down. I love the depth that the author added to some of the characters, my favourite being Gladys. The different challenges that the privileged and working class often face is skillfully highlighted. The introspection that Brig goes through was great and I enjoyed seeing her character come full circle.
