She’s sure he’ll be nervous, but he’ll be excited, too.

Won’t he?

Five years later:

Axel Broxton is at the top of his career, and women fall into his bed with a mere crook of his finger. What more could he want?

Besides… her. The woman he’d let slip away. Even five years later, he cringed at the way he’d treated her that night. When he’d gone back to apologize the next day, she was gone. Vanished without a trace.

His heart never fully recovered, and regret ate at him every single day at the thought of what might have been.

Until one night, he meets one of the new team doctors… a brilliant surgical resident who he knows all too well. The woman he’s never gotten over.

Then he meets her daughter, Carrie.

Dark, curly hair. Adorable dimples. Sapphire-blue eyes.

His eyes.

His daughter.

I just finished reading this. I think I will not be doing a full review. This book was frustrating as hell. I could not get over how H treated h and the ow drama that was inconsistent. I wish the H would be sucked into a blackhole. The main reason for my low rating is because after H and h have sex (they've been in a relationship for 2 years), h tells H she is pregnant, H accuses h of being a gold digger and throws money at the drawer and tells her to get rid of it. 5 years of separation later and they reconnected, ow f buddy comes into the picture and lies and says she is pregnant with H's baby and he showers her with his time and financially support and never once accuses ow of gold digger even though that's what she was. He forgets spending time with his newfound daughter and h for ow. The apology was a manipulative, shitty, non apology.

I will not write this author off just yet. She has potential, but this one I did not like.

I went back and forth with what the ratings would be becuse there were elements I enjoyed but because of what happened close to the ending, I could not give this anything higher than a 1 star.

H: Axel Broxton, age 27
h: Blaire Atwood/Cavanaugh, age 26

SUMMARY: H and h are college sweetheart who have been dating for 2 years. Right after they have sex one day, h tells H she is pregnant. The H then gets angry, alludes to her being a gold digger since he is now an NFL football player and throws cash on the dresser telling her to take care of it, then storms out.

The next day, h packs up and leaves with her big brother to California. She was supposed to be going to Harvard for med school, but went to a California school instead. At the same time, the H cools down and realizes his mistake, but it's too late. He goes to h's apartment and sees that everything is gone except for a box of their momentos of their time together h left behind. H tries to call h, but she has blocked him and changed her number. H calls h's brother and he tells her too late thinking that meant h had an abortion. Later when they meet again, H said he went to Harvard and tried to find her, but couldn't. Then he said he hire private investigators and they found nothing.

Five years have passed. H is still an NFL football player, but has been traded from Boston team to Texas team where coincidentally the h is doing her residency in orthopedic and also working for the team. They met again at a gala and they still have feelings for each other. BUT plot twist, the h is married now. We later learn that the h met her husband, Evan, five years ago when she was pregnant. They become best friends and Evan confides in her that he is gay. Because his father is homophobic, they pretend to date, then get engaged and eventually get married because the father won't give Evan the family company if he isn't married. So they are married, but free to date whoever they want and agree to divorce once they find someone they want to be with.

The rest of the book is H finding out he has a daughter and trying to connect with her while the H and h reconnect and try to have a relationship. Towards the ending, there was OW drama which is the reason for my low rating. I will explain further down.

Ends in HEA.

SEPARATION/CELIBACY: 5 year separation. H slept around and h slept with one OM, a boyfriend, once. (I have issues with this!)

WHAT I LIKED:

1. I liked that the h and her baby had so much support from her older brother and his old military buddies/business partners as well as her faux husband/best friend Evan and his family. The brother and his friends are funny and I think they will get their own books.

2. Carrie Cavanaugh - I love the daughter, Carrie. She was cute and intelligent; being able to read at age 4. I love her scenes with all the characters especially her uncles.

3. Evan Cavanaugh - I love h's gay best friend. He was there for her at every step of her pregnancy and even during the delivery where he said it was the greatest moment of his life to see the baby being born. He loves Carrie like his own, she calls him Baba. They spend time together even after Carrie meets the H, her father. Since he was able to get his family's company with h's help, he was able to financially support them, even though h declined. He told h he was sad that he couldn't be the man for her since he is gay. I like that the h and Evan were supportive of each other. They did sleep on the same bed when they were married, but nothing happened. There was 2 separate bathrooms.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE:

1. H's actions not redeemable to me. If my boyfriend that I love tells me I was a gold digger and threw cash at me to get rid of the baby, all the love I have for him would immediately stop. There is no way I could ever love him after that. His excuse was not good at all. He said he just came home from speaking with his father who always hated the h and some of his anger rubbed up on the H and that is why he reacted like that. Remember this, because it is also tied to something else I hate and the reason for the low rating.

2. BBS - body betrayal syndrome - I hate how the h had bbs the moment she saw him again and the moment they had time to talk, she is already having sex with him.

3. Celibacy - I am sick and tired of authors writing romance where H is a manwhore and h is celibate for no good reason. PLEASE STOP THIS BS. In this case, H didn't sleep around until a year passed of their separation. When H and h reconnected, they had discussion about their five year of separation. H was inconsistent. He said he only had a box of condoms in his suitcase and not his apartment because when he finds women for "release" but no emotion, he didn't want them to know where he lived and have sex with someone in the town he lived in. He said he had no girlfriends and he didn't slept with them after sex. He said he didn’t went down on any women and that he only had sex from behind because it wasn't h he was having sex with. This H is just ridiculous. He said before he moved to Texas and was still in Boston, "for a couple years" he had this f buddy, Milan, that he had sex with in his Boston apartment. So he did have a box of condom in his apartment and so did she in her apartment. He did sleep after sex with her because she would pretend to fall a sleep after sex. She told him she was falling in love with him even though they agreed to have no feelings. She became clingy and stalkerish, but he never broke it off with her. He was traded to Texas soon after and basically ghosted her.

The h dated someone briefly during med residency and had sex with him once until she realized she couldn't have sex with anyone except H. I am so fuming angry at this.

Also this is what H said to h about sleeping around. H is a manipulative shithole:

“So, we were kinda waiting for each other, huh?”

Blaire rolled her eyes. “I wouldn’t exactly say you were waiting for me while you fucked your way across America, Ax.”

I lifted her chin with my knuckle. “Hey, none of them meant a thing to me, Blaire. It was just sex. Just to fill a need. There was no emotion whatsoever. You understand needing sex, right?”

She averted her eyes, watching her plate intently as she dragged her chopsticks haphazardly through her rice. “I guess.”

“I mean, you had sex while we were apart, right?”

“Once,” she said. “With Mark.” Yeah, Mark was definitely getting an ass whooping once I picked my jaw up off the floor. Once? In five fucking years? “The rest of the time I used BOB,” she said.

4. Private Investigators - H said he hired PI, but they found nothing. How was that possible when H knew where h's brother was and also, h's brother was in the navy and the PIs couldn't find him. I hate explanations that don't make sense or have logic.

5. OW Drama - I love OW drama when it makes sense and it is redeemable, but in this case, it felt forced. This drama happened literally pages away from the ending and the explanation and logic of it was not there like the author wrote one in for the sake of more drama.

So remember when H found out h was pregnant and he accused her of being a gold digger and threw cash at the dresser and tell her to get rid of it and then stormed off. They were dating for 2 years by then. His excuse was that he just came from talking with his father and since his father always hated h, some of the anger rubbed up on him. During pregnancy, h went to school and worked. h said during her pregnancy, she didn't do a lot of bubble baths only showers because she needed help with getting out of it and it was too awkward to the h and Evan, even gay, to see each other naked. So she opted for showers. This is important info for the ow drama.

When he founds out ow, ex f buddy, is pregnant, he is overjoy. When ow arrive at his apartment, h gets her iced tea and she rudely complained about wanting hot tea. H doesn't defend h and asks her to get hot tea. Ow rudely said she's always wanted to give H a firstborn child. When he corrects her, she said, she believes its going to be a boy, at least she can give him his firstborn son that she wants to name Axel Junior. The asshole H is okay with her naming him that.

He puts ow up in a luxury 3 bedroom hotel that cost $800 a night. He misses dinner and spending time with h and his daughter because he is with the ow and forgets to text. He promises to be back in 15 minutes from helping ow, but comes back hours later.

At one point, he slept over in the hotel, but in one of the bedroom. Another point, he helps take off ow's clothes because she needed help.

H then moves her into their apartment building leasing her a five bedroom apartment.

Ow was always interrupting them, especially during sex, with fake pregnancy complaints. H kept breaking his promise to spend time with h and his daughter.

Ow bangs on their door at 10pm while they are having sex for him to set up the baby's crib. Then ow lies and tells him the baby is kicking so he puts his hands on her while she moves it close to her breasts and crotch area. When he gets back to bed with h, h makes him wash his hands because it smells like ow's perfume. h decides to sleep in daughter's room.

H helped ow with baths, which the h never got when she was pregnant because they weren't together. H realizes this but does nothing. He realizes that h is married to gay best friend, but gay best friend has never seen her naked, but ow has been back in H's life for a few days and he already saw her naked twice.

I am so livid. H was with h for two years and accused her of being a gold digger and telling her to abort the baby, but he doesn’t do the same with ow. He doesn't even realize the amount of money he is spending on ow. There was an incident where he calls the h a bitch for telling him to be careful that she isn't lying to him and another incident when h suggest he gets a paternity test and he yells and said h is just like his vile and evil father. H is ready to be a father to the ow's baby. He calls the baby junior while the h is just suffering in silence. When h asks why H is spending so much money on ow, he says she is pregnant and can't work. She is a fashion designer. h tells him she worked and went to school while she was pregnant. He gets mad at her.

Since h is a doctor, she thinks ow is lying at about how many months ow is. H doesn't believe her, but when H is with ow for ultrasound, the nurse confirms since is only four months pregnant, when he hasn't been with her since he moved away from Boston six months ago. H's apology to h is a non apology. h leaves the H's apartment and staying in a hotel. H doesn't respect her wishes to leave her alone. He uses his daughter to find out where she is staying. His apology is manipulative because when he should be consoling the h, he plays the woe is me card and says that he wasn't actually happy about the ow pregnancy, but pretended to be because, drum rooooolllll, his father never wanted him. His father hates him and there is no further explanation. He said he didn’t want ow's baby to feel unwanted. But this freaking explanation doesn't make sense because his reaction to h's pregnancy was to get rid of the baby. That is as unwanted as it can get. So it was okay to tell the woman you love to get rid of your daughter, but shower the son you were having with the woman you were f buddy with, with love? What? And it turns out the baby isn't his, it is a mechanic.

6. Inconsistency - this was a football themed book, but I think there was only one football game scene. Also, in the first half of the book, we were introduced to H's football teammates and h was working as one of their sports doctor, but by the middle to end of the book, football details were scarce. We barely saw h working with the team anymore or any of the H's teammates.

The same thing happened with h's best friend/husband, Evan. He was a major part of the first half of the book and was huge part of h and h's daughter's lives, but then he was scarcely mentioned. There was mentions of him still spending time with the daughter, but nothing beyond what happens now that H and h reconnected. There was a brief sentence of how Evan was not listed as the father in the birth certificate and once they were ready for a divorce, he would act as the uncle. But I would have liked to see how they arranged everything once H and h moved in together and Evan also reconnected with an old boyfriend. There was no divorce scene so the whole time h was with H she was still married. Also, Evan's parents (father eventually died) were happy to be Carrie's grandparents. They knew she was not biologically their son's. Evan's mother was also detailed in the first half of the book and then just disappeared. It would be nice to see how his mother reacted to their divorce (she knows Evan is gay) and if she still interacts with her faux granddaughter.

I’m at 35% and there are so many things I like but there are so many things I don’t like so far. The things I like are the plot line as it is interesting. The characters are all extremely likable. The writing style is easy and sort of grabs you into its world. But…

The things I don’t like out weigh all of that. The main characters are “smart” morons. They continually miscommunicate or misinterpret or blindly react to everything but the author writes that they are so stuck on each other. I call BS because they spent a successful five years apart from each other, not hurting a bit from what the story has said so far. The FMC has SEVEN all hunk, all manly Uber alphas, minus one gay man and ZERO female friends, while married to said rich gay man, in her life. AGAIN I don’t feel any hurting or loss in her life. She has basically been handed a perfect situation by the author that I honestly feel like she is cheating with the MMC instead of suffering for lack of him.

You would think this would be a good thing(!), that for ONCE the FMC has everything, but I can’t figure out what MORE or what value the MMC could bring to her banquet table that she isn’t already getting in her life. A “D” she can actually ride??? Is that all?? I want to clarify that all those seven men are her relatives in one way or another and obviously the gay husband is gay, so no s e x from any of them. The problem is that the author wrote every single one of these men as perfect lead male main character material and they are all “single” and completely devoted to the FMC, that it’s hard to see this as realistic at all or see past them to the lamest MMC I’ve so far ever come across.

The seven non-dwarfs of this story are ALL inordinately intimate with the FMC too. They kiss her lips, they manhandle her as if it’s okay to constantly touch a female you are not biologically related. They know beyond way tmi of her personally that I feel like there are no boundaries in her relationships with all these men that should ONLY be relegated to her relationships with her one actual brother and her one true love, the MMC. I can’t even say with her “husband” because that relationship is way to intimate too, for a marriage of convenience with her best friend ought to be. I mean they share a single bed and bedroom for four years! I don’t care how big the bed and bedroom are!!

This is a level of a relationship that should have ONLY been established with an intimate partner. Not with some guy she sort of randomly picked up at the mall!!

As for the MMC, he is absolutely likable, for a dude that had such a blip of a moment that caused such an extreme loss of life experience or life damage that he can never get back. But at the same time he excelled in every other way despite this significant loss for him. So I’m not sure how to feel about him. I like him but I don’t like him. What does he bring other than a penis and upheaval to the FMC’s life? I am sure this author is going to sweet talk the reader into believing any HEA that will appear at the end of this story. And while I believe the author can write well enough to do that, I don’t believe this story is making any sense.

Think about it, would any woman like to come into a man’s life where he has SEVEN women that he kisses and touches and sleeps with (but no s e x), all of whom are either a variation of sister, bff’s and one MOC (again no s e x but they live together and share a bed for years), and be okay with this?!?! I. Don’t. Think. So.

Lastly, what red blooded man of the obviously mature emotional and physical ages of all these men have NOT ONE girlfriend or wife between them?? How does a FMC have so many dedicated men in her life but NOT ONE female friend in her life? And not her boss/coworker doctor character that is mentioned literally only twice so far. This side character absolutely doesn’t count as a female friend. What wealthy handsome gay man doesn’t have a boyfriend for four years? A boyfriend who would be okay with him going home to his wife to share a bed, bedroom, home, a child, a life with???

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW THIS STORY MAKES ANY REALISTIC, ROMANTIC SENSE?!?

The FMC has her life made but all seven men, and the MMC are unreal men.

Anyway, I’m off to finish this decently written nonsense so I can put my last two cents in on it. I’m not hating this book because again it’s well written enough that it’s holding my attention but the characters and situations are farcical.

UPDATE

I'm 76% in now and up to this point I could say while I didn't agree with the story, the author has a style I could enjoy. But now the author put the nail in the "stupid" coffin that these characters live in. I am flabbergasted(!) that the author wrote the MMC say that he believes that the OW's baby is his JUST on her say so. How this author wants the readers to see this character as successful and intelligent is beyond me. Literally, his responses to EVERYTHING is wrong! So how could he have managed to get so far in life like that. Smdh. I'm just done. I was struggling before, but now I honestly won't give this author a second chance once I finish this book.

FINAL UPDATE

Well, there is definately an HEA. The author had the MMC cry and say that his daddy never wanted him to make all his mistakes go away and that just made the FMC simply too ridiculous to be believed as an intelligent and independant woman. There is also no closure on what happened with the OW, who I highly doubt just faded away. The gay husband did fade away though. One minute he was there, then he was a glorifed and very convenient babysitter for like a second, and then he was just gone. Like he never existed in this story at all. So, while I liked alot of things about this story and style of writing the rationale and realistic behavior was not there enough for me to give a higher that zero star rating. I loved the characters but they were simply TSTL. The story also was too easy in soo many ways. No real emotional depth by any of the characters. Simply too many negatives here. Good luck.

2 Stars - It was okay

I thought the characters were immature. I'm usually not picky about the reason for the hero not knowing he's a father, but the way it played out here was simply dumb. What a waste of years, years they could have been together and happy (but then there wouldn't be a book). The author just didn't sell it well. Later in the book, the hero acted like such an idiot and the reason behind that also didn't work for me. He repeatedly put the OW first, and it bothered me that the heroine allowed him to keep treating her with such disregard. And we were suppose to believe he was doing it because of some hang up from his past (daddy issues). It wasn't convincing. His behavior was OTT stupid.

I probably would have generously given this 3 Stars, but the heroine had to go and say "man chowder." Ewww, just NOOOO. It's my fault I didn't DNF in that moment.

They are a couple for 2 years. She’s a genius on her way to med school and he’s going to be drafted into the NFL. When she tells him She’s pregnant he freaks out says some nasty things and leaves. So she packs her bags switches colleges and disappears. He realizes his mistake and the next morning goes to her only to find she left town.5 years later she shows up at a gala associated with his NFL team. She’s married to her gay bff and raising a 4 yo daughter. He wants her back. He had a PI looking for her for years. They he back together. They’re fine until the 3rd act Trouvé comes in the form of a pregnant ow from the H’s past. This
Could have been angsty but the H was tstl. The ow is supposedly 7 months pregnant but doesn’t even have a bump. He buys her and her baby an apartment and when she snaps her fingers he comes running dropping plans with his 4 yo daughter and the fmc. He constantly tells the fmc he loves only her but is bowing and scraping so hard to the ow it’s ridiculous. It was so far fetched that the only feels it gave me were bland blahs. This could have been angsty but every opportunity was Wasted. The ow thrown in at the end as a hail
Mary didn’t work because it just made the H look utterly ridiculously stupid.

3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK or decent reads.
=========================

I've read worse stories. The author has potential, but we need heroines with a backbone.
Our hero is full of issues and in my opinion, he was relieved of not having the responsibility of fatherhood and moving on with his life freely. He could have done a thorough search and found her and helped.
Our heroine should have kicked his ass and moved on as soon as his ex showed up causing trouble. He was an asshole for prioritizing his ex over our heroine and their daughter.

wow

Just wow! FLOVED this!!!!!! FLOVED!! I cannot believe this a debut novel! It doesn’t read like it is. This author has major talent. I can’t over how much I loved this book. I’ve really enjoyed a few books lately but this is the first book I’ve loved this much in years. I want more!! Now!! Haha! I’m fangirling so bad right now.

Let me just get this off my chest. The things that didn’t work for me. I wish the separation hadn’t been so long. I feel like he just gave up looking. He could have found her if he really tried. I think he felt abandoned and was being a baby even though it was his fault. I mean she got married during that time(to her gay BFF)-a quick google search would find that. Wish he hadn’t been a man ho during the separation while she tried once with one guy. Didn’t like how quick she forgave him after the very end hotel incident. (OW Baby isn’t his so it’s ok he treated you that way?) also triplets? There are so many triplets born in books and yet in real life it’s rare.

Other than that this book is utter perfection. Sweet love story. Sweet hero that truly loved the heroine and you saw it in everything he did (aside from the Milan situation and the very beginning surprise pregnancy scene). He fell immediately in love with his daughter. And is a good dad. I loved that they never used their daughter against the other. And Carrie was so adorable.
Love love love! Even with the above dislikes it’s absolutely a 5 ⭐️ read for me. Shoot, ten stars!! And this is her debut novel?! This author is going places. It reads like an experienced author wrote it. Loved the side characters and can’t wait for their stories!!!

Blaire is about to train to become a doctor and her BF Axel is about to be drafted into NFL but she has a little something to tell him . When she tells Axel his outburst isn’t what she expected so she runs to her brother and vanishes into the night . Several years later she meets Axel again and all the same feelings are with them both but things are not what they seem and being together isn’t going to be as easy as Axel wants it to be. Fabulous first book from Jade a second chance romance with plenty of spice and a fabulous story loved Blaire extended family and how they protect her and can’t wait for their stories ….. wait we are going to get them aren’t we Jade ?

Let’s get right to it. RUN, DO NOT WALK, to get this book. Jade Dollston’s debut novel, Delay of Game, makes you feel everything you could want in a book. You’ll cry, you’ll laugh, and Blair and Axel’s insane chemistry will have you… well, you know.

Blair and Axel fell in love in college, with him about to enter the NFL, and her about to go to medical school (I love me some smart, strong women). She became pregnant and Axel didn’t take it well, so Blair disappeared. But five years later, they meet again. Axel meets the child he never realized came to be.

I’m only going to say that much, as I don’t want to ruin anything, but you want to see where this story heads. It’s not exactly what you think.

This book also has incredible supporting characters. It’s a sign of a well-written book when you fall in love not only with the main characters, but the supporting characters as well. They provide so much of the comic relief. I hope they all get their own books. If I know the ingenious Ms. Dollston like I think I do, we’ll be seeing these characters for years to come.

I guarantee this is the beginning of a wonderful, long-lasting writing career. Ms. Dollston is both clever and witty in her style. You don’t want to miss the boat on being able to say “I knew her when…”

Well this book was AMAZING ! I stayed up til nearly 1 am reading this beauty.( Jade Dollston you sleep theif!) What a book what a story!!  Axel and Blaire  are incredible, their story  was a rollercoaster of emotions. This story is of young love torn apart by fear , shock and miscommunication. My heart Broke for Blaire on more than one occasion and I wanted to murder Axel a few times but the love these two have for eachother was incredible and how they both overcame the past  was  perfect. The characters are soo well developed I can't actually wait for the next book  and wait til you meet Carrie she's amazing!! . The Spice in this book is also off the Scale  when it was hot is was on fire 🔥.   I swear i was melting  with this story. I absolutely  loved it and for the first book from this author it was pretty incredible . I can't wait for the next book.

I must say that this story was one hell of an emotional ride ! I laughed, cried and got so angry at times but just couldn't help falling in love with Axel and Blaire.

I got so mad at Axel for some of the things he said and did and felt the raw emotion but could not help falling a bit more...

Without giving too much away, this is a story about true and unconditional love between Axel and Blaire, with a sprinkle of spice, extreme hotness and an extra pinch of love!

My favourite characters except for Axel and Blaire are Carrie, their smart and loveable daughter and the mysterious and hot Beau..

A definite MUST read if you like second chance, hot and spicy reads!

Jade Dollston just busted in with her debut novel and totally hit it out of the park! Blaire does what she has to in order to give her child her best life while also working to achieve her goals. Axel is a hot football star who tends to make mistakes, but is a big cuddly, lovable teddy bear. Together - they are amazing and hot! This book will break your heart, make you angry, make you cry, and put you all back together again. I can not wait to see what Jade writes next!

Blaire finds out she is pregnant before she is meant to go to med school, when she tells Axel it does not go well and he leaves her, but after a few hours he knows he did not mean what he said and tries to find her but she is already gone.

After 5 years they see each other again but Axel does not know she had the baby until he sees her and they have the same eyes.

This book is emotional roller coaster it as it has it up and down,
Sometimes you want to shout at Axel for being so stupid and blind to some things.

This book drug me in and had me hooked from the beginning. I stayed up into 3am reading because I could NOT put the book down. There were so many times that I wanted to smack Axel across his big dumb head and scream at Blaire but the whole time I was rooting for them to have their HEA! I cannot recommend this book enough and I hope to see more of Axel and Blaire in following books!

Amazing debut novel, i read this within a few hours. The different characters and the points of view had me on my feet the whole time. The two main characters go from college sweethearts, then something rocks their world. Finding themselves five years later, the little one in the story is my favorite character with her personality. I hope this series because a cross series and you get to see these characters evolve.

Blaire and Axel were a wonderful couple to read about. Their relationship was the stuff romance novels are made of. Blaire was brilliant, smart, charming, beautiful and had a heart of gold.
Axel was swoon worthy. He didn’t always get things right, but he was man enough to own up to his many mistakes and oversights. Axel loved Blaire without reservations.

The star of this story was Carrie. Blaire’s and Axel’s daughter. She was the cute, comic relief in this book. Although she didn’t know her father at first; she gravitates to him like a moth to a flame and was immediately enamored with him and he with her. The love that Axel showed towards his daughter was absolutely beautiful. Axel literally wore his feelings on his sleeves.

Blaire had some trust issues to overcome due to the heartache she experienced 5 years ago due to Axel’s initial reaction to her pregnancy but once her and Axel reconnected, he tried really hard to prove that he was not the man he was 5 years ago. Just as things are looking up for Blaire, Axel and Carrie; Axel’s past comes to rearing its ugly head.

Now Axel is faced with yet another obstacle standing in the way of the woman and family he wants. Will Blaire and Axel weather the storm or will Blaire cut her losses and protect her and her daughter from the same heartbreak she experienced once before by Axel?

Book Hangover Alert! The feels I had while reading Axel and Blaire’s story were everywhere. The tears, the anger I felt at times, the hurt I felt through the characters, but nothing beat the smiles and joy and love. I love the connection I felt with the characters. All of them, not just the main characters. I didn’t want the story to end, but it ended so beautifully. Axel is definitely book husband worthy.

Axel and Blair had just graduated from college; Blair would be going off to Harvard medical school and Axel had been drafted by the NFL. They were in a long-term, loving and committed relationship; Axel had bought Blair a ring and was planning on proposing that night.

When Blair told him that she was pregnant, he called her a gold digger and accused her of getting pregnant on purpose to trap him now that he had a NFL contract and was going to be making a lot of money. He threw a wad of bills at her, told her to have an abortion and walked out on her. Blair packed her things and left, along with her brother, to go to medical school.

When they ran into each other five years later and Axel found out that he had a child, he yelled at Blair because he had the right to be there when his child was born and SHE APOLOGIZED TO HIM!!!

F#%k that $hit and the horse it rode in on. DNF

Delay of Game by Jade Dollston is everything you are wanting in a book. Are you looking for a sports romance with spicy 🌶️🥵sex scenes ? Look no further not only will you find the perfect book boyfriend but Delay of Game is a second chance romance with a surprise baby trope.

Delay of Game will have you feeling all sorts of emotions from laughing 😂 to crying 😭 to everything in between.

Axel Broxton is not your ordinary football 🏈 player. He’s handsome, funny, cocky, possessive and sexy in and out of the bedroom. 🥵🥵🥵

Axel has everything he could have ever wanted a beautiful girlfriend, a successful career and very promising future. But what happens when words get said that you regret and hearts get broken. When even after years go by and he still regrets how he treated the love of his life.

Blaire Atwood is independent, smart, strong 💪 and beautiful. But what will happen when she sees Axel after five years of missing him and keeping a secret. Will he be able to mend her heart and make her happy again… or will his words be a constant reminder of the pain and heartache 💔 she went through.

Delay of Game by Jade Dollston is not only well written but the storyline between these two amazing characters will having you wanting more. The spicy sex scenes 🌶️🌶️, the dirty talking alpha will having you getting wet 💦💦 and hot 🥵 🔥 for the one and only Axel Broxton.

Delay of Game was phenomenal. It had everything you could hope for: steam, laughs, tears, and everything in between.

Blaire and Axel are college sweethearts but when Blaire gets pregnant Axel doesn't take the news well at all. Blaire leaves before Axel can make amends and they don't reconnect until five years later when he finds out he has a daughter. Axel is determined to win back Blaire and be with his daughter.

I'm not going to lie when I first started the book I was really concerned I wasn't going to be able to get past certain hurdles the couple has in the very beginning of the book. I rarely DNF so I kept going and not everything is as it seems. Vague I know but you'll see what I mean when you read it. Once I got further in I couldn't put it down. It grabs your attention so well.

The humor is superb and had me laughing through out the entire book. Then there's the emotional rollercoaster that the couple go through. There were times when I just wanted to cry for what both Blaire and Axel were going through at different stages.

Overall I loved it, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The spice was...well there's a lot going on in the spice department 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

Yay for another great debut novel! Delay of Game was a fun, if what frustrating read that made the resolutions all the more satisfying.

Axel could be, well, a little emotionally unintelligent at times, but he made up for it when reasons were explained! Blair was sweetness personified and Carrie was extra special!

Looking forward to reading more from this emerging author :-)

-stupid hero (very very stupid)
-doormat heroine
-bs
-5years later (baby trope)
-inconsistencies
-wrapping up fast after a 0.5 row of groveling and a serious case of BS (insert vomiting emoji)
- the hero was one of the stupidest ever

This second chance romance was everything and more I could’ve wanted!

Axel and Blaire were madly in love when Blaire finds out she’s pregnant it changes everything. Axel’s father got into his head that all Blaire is is a gold digger so when he gets the news that they are having a baby he says the most horrible things to her that changes everything. Blaire ends up leaving with her brother and moving away from Axel.

Fast forward five years and they run into each other. Blaire never forgot Axel, she still loves him even after what he said because he is the father of her adorable daughter

I love how easily Axel falls into the father role and does everything to make up for lost time. I love that Blaire is a stronger person than before and that she is an amazing mother

I love a good plot twist and when Milan came into the story I knew I instantly hated her but what he did to Blaire and Axels relationship was horrible. Axel was blind to everything going on but Blaire is smart and being a doctor she knew something was up

I’m glad that in the end that get their happy ending

Wow!!!

What a debut book!
Jade knocked it out the park with this one and I cannot wait to see where she takes us next!
The story was simply perfect! The dedication Axe has for Blaire is beautiful. I love him as much as I wanted to hit him for being so naive and trying too hard to be the good guy.
The hot scenes were smoking enough to set your panties on fire! Jade knows how to write her spice!
The humour! This books has it all!!!
So many of my favorite tropes all in 1 book! Thank you Jade for taking us on a rollercoaster of emotions and delivering us the perfect ending!
Cannot wait to see what’s next!

Wow just wow! I loved this book from the start. The love story between Blaire and Axel was beautifully written from start to finish. It wasn’t a simple love story it had its ups and downs, i felt every emotion i feel i was on an emotional rollercoaster with them. As i enjoyed the book so much i had to slow myself down because i didnt want it to end. I love Carrie in this book i could imagine her voice when reading it.
Beautifully written story, really enjoyed it highly recommend! I cant wait for the next book from Jade Dollston and to find out what Beau is up to, i hope we get to see more of Broxton family ❤️

HOLY F!
I would never have believed Jade is a first time author. I LOVED this book. In the first chapter alone I swooned, I laughed and then my heart was hooked. A rollercoaster of emotions throughout makes it a binge worthy read and a MUST download. The way I fell for these characters hit me hard and left me in daze. I can already tell there is going to be so much to come from Jade Dollston. Also Axel is 100% a forever book boyfriend!
