About the author

Thom S. Rainer is the founder and CEO of Church Answers and Executive Director of Revitalize Network. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he received his degree in business administration. He received both the master of divinity and the Ph.D. degrees from Southern Seminary.

Dr. Rainer has served as pastor of four churches. He is the former president of Rainer
Group consulting. He served for twelve years as dean at Southern Seminary and for thirteen years as the president and CEO of LifeWay Çhristian Resources.

Dr. Rainer has authored or co-authored 33 books. Among his greatest joys are his family: his wife Nellie Jo; three sons, Sam, Art, and Jess; and eleven grandchildren.

I really enjoyed Pray and Go, as I have been working on this area of my life in the last year. The Great Commission is something that I think a lot of Christian’s forget about. We go about our lives, going to church, teaching our children to have a heart for God and to love others, but we forget what Matthew 28:18-20 tells us to do with our lives.
I enjoyed Pray and Go as it gives readers some really great ways to start working on this area of their lives. Simple actions such as praying for their churches and pastors, learning to share your testimony with others and inviting people you don’t know to church. I found that the author’s daily advice and encouragement was easy to read and follow, perfect for those who might be new to outreach and heading towards A Great Commission centered life

In the book Pray & Go, author Thom Rainer, writes a 30-day devotional about becoming a Great Commission Christian. This book is filled with practical steps to help you reach your neighbors, friends and family with the life changing message of Jesus. Rainer writes: “Praying for your one provides a great intersection between evangelism and prayer. You are depending on the power of prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit to change the person’s heart as you pray and continue to share your faith.”
This was a great read with lots of challenging steps and thoughts about reaching our Jerusalem. My only concern is the 30-day approach. There is a lot to do and many of the steps will take more than a day or even a few days to accomplish. I would highly recommend this book. I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A 30-Day Devotional of Hope

This is a great plan for a 30-Day Devotional. The author provides a great commitment agreement, in which one must sign prior to starting the 30-Day Devotional. Each day there is a different topic; however, Day 1 is designated as the day of prayer. It is the day of commitment, and the beginning of your devotional journey.

This is a great Devotional Journal and I highly recommend it.

Although easy to read, I took much longer to read this book, due to the tasks set at each one. And although it suggests a 30day study/action, I needed more time - I felt / and believe- it was/is important where possible, to begin making friendships with the people for whom I was praying and asking God to help with points of connection.
I’m keen to see how God might use this with our church in the new year.

This is one of the very best evangelism books I have read. Our church recently completed the 30-day Pray & Go challenge. The author provides personal stories and practical steps for Christians to pray for and to encourage family, friends, neighbors, and community in order to fulfill the Great Commission. So inspiring and practical!

Does the concept of witnessing terrify you? Do you want to help evangelize the world, but don't know how to start? Would you be encouraged with a, let's say, month long plan broken up into small and simple projects?

"Pray & Go: Your Invitation to Become a Great Commission Christian" by Thom Rainer is "A 30-Day Journey" to encourage Christians - either individually or as a study group - to become equipped to start witnessing for Christ.

Each day is about 6 pages dealing with the subject of the day. There is a specific project for the day which is manageable to do with a busy schedule. As the title hints at, a lot of those projects are simply praying for you, your pastor, unsaved people, and your church, while others will encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and speak about your faith.

Most books I read once. There's only a handful that I would read over and over again. This is the newest item in the group.
