“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.”
Having the right focus makes all the difference in life. If we are busy focusing on external frivolities or personal ambitions rather than on the kingdom of God, we wind up missing out on serving God’s kingdom―as well as many of the other things we hope to attain in life. However, when we align our lives with God’s Word, we get to experience the greatest freedom we could ever know.
In Kingdom Focus , Tony Evans teaches readers how to focus on the things God Himself focuses on in Scripture and explores the issues that delight His heart. It is by doing so that we can discover the joy and the power of delighting in the same things. Allow God to sharpen your focus, transform your mind, and empower you to live every aspect of your life in light of the kingdom to which you have been chosen and called, for such a time as this.

The ministry focus of this book was really helpful to me in this season. When it comes to the Evans Family, I admit that I'm more prone toward Dr. Tony Evans' wife, Dr. Lois Evans, and his daughters, Chrystal Evans Hurst and Priscilla Shirer. Yet, in this season, his words have been resonating with me in a way that lets me know God is speaking to me through him. In this book, truths we know were reiterated; however, Dr. Evans brought the truth home with real life examples. The bottom line is that Jesus is our Source. Everything else, even anyone else, as much as we may love and appreciate them, is a resource, blessings from Father God, in Christ Jesus. Though the temptation is always there, we cannot allow our blessed resources to take the place of our Source. We have to keep our focus on God and not be distracted by the trappings of this world. That's having a Kingdom Focus.
Pastor Tony Evans in this book steers the Christian reader toward a more heavenly mindset. He begins by providing some metaphors to help the reader understand exactly how important a change of focus toward life is necessary. He spends nearly half the book on why focus is so important and the rest on how we can shift ours.
My four star rating shows I recommend this book. My thanks to Focus on the Family publishing via NetGalley. My opinions were given freely and without recompense.
It took me a minute to get through this book just because it really made me think and recalibrate my thoughts.
I HIGHLY recommend "Kingdom Focus" to any new or seasoned believer. It provided so much clarity and even correction on how I should view God and the life He called me to live.
My book is marked, highlighted, and sticky-noted up haha. Tony Evans provides so much wisdom and I am eager to read his other books.
This is a tough book to review. I love this topic and am definitely driven by this book to focus on the kingdom. That being said it was a drawn out read for me. Soo many analogies and quick stories while some where very applicable it was a bit much. I ended up skimming parts because it was so far away from the topic. I am a quick and to the point person.
Great read, especially the last few chapters about how to follow God's "GPS." This helps the Church refocus on what is most important, and uses simple language on what should be Christian basics that aren't taught anymore.
This is a great book! Tony Evans is incredibly down-to-earth in his writing. He uses so many helpful everyday life examples to illustrate spiritual truths. This book both encouraged and challenged me in my walk with God. I highly recommend it!
