Meet the Kurmudges. Happily married for almost forty years, parents to two adult sons, grandparents to little Alfie.
Roger Kurmudge is successful, affluent, and very grateful his wife, Jane, never found out about that moment of indiscretion in his past.
Talented artist Jane is the backbone of the putting aside her own ambitions, she looks after Alfie three days a week, facilitates communication between Roger and his sons, hosts all family events and manages to be a pillar of the community, all without a word of complaint. In spite of her husband’s deficiencies, she still loves him dearly.
So when Jane vanishes on his retirement day, Roger is bewildered. Has she been kidnapped? Worse – has she discovered his secret? Then her emails start arriving, giving Roger to-do lists that keep him busier than he could have imagined.
As the weeks go on and Jane stays away, Roger is forced to re-examine everything he thought he knew about his life, his family and himself. But even if he can turn over a new leaf, will Jane ever come home? Or has she been keeping secrets of her own?

A book about relationships of all kinds, the things we take for granted, kindness, appreciation of the simple things and learning too late. Can't recommend enough .
I enjoyed this story immensely and did not want it to end .
This is a great read as Jane’s secrets unfold.
I very much enjoyed the journey of the main character through this book.
