Moonstone Bay #11

Beach Blanket Wendigo

Rate this book
Moonstone Bay is in an uproar. The DDA is on the run, but they’re not going down without a fight. While all that’s going on, Hadley Hunter is practicing her magic. She managed to join with her elemental friends for a huge wins—and feels that’s important for the DDA fight—but she needs practice.
Nothing is perfect, however.
When a tourist is found dead on the beach one night after hearing a series of eerie howls, Hadley and her boyfriend Galen Blackwood think they have a new mystery to solve. The problem is, all signs point to a wendigo … which shouldn’t be possible on Moonstone Bay.
Things become even more convoluted when the victim’s movements on the night of her death lead them to a local. He denies killing her, but something is clearly amiss.
There’s a wendigo, a rogue DDA faction, and a plane door that just won’t stay closed.
Hadley has a lot on her plate. Nothing is going to stop her from doing what needs to be done, however. She’s ready to fight … even if that fight might kill her.
Hadley’s friends are determined to help, but as usual, she’s at the center of things. Moonstone Bay is caught in a shift of unbelievable proportions, but only one faction can come out on top.
There’s a battle coming, and when the truth comes out, everybody will be rocked.
Buckle up, because this ride is going to be bumpy.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Hadley and Taken have to deal with the DDA, ( the Downtown Development Authority) once and for all (hopefully) they are responsible for governing the island and control pretty much everything that happens, that's along with dealing with sightings of a Bigfoot, and a wendigo and there's the dead woman that's been found on the beach. Just another week in Moonstone Bay. Also there's a lot of talk about a marriage proposal, maybe happening sometime .................

Hadley is a pain

Hadley was very likable in the first book. Unfortunately it's been all down hill from there. The story is good, but Hadley is so unlikable now. She's annoying, pushy, nosy obnoxious and overbearing.

At this point in the series Hadley is more of a caricature of herself than a believable or likeable character. I wish she weren't written to be so ridiculous because she did have the potential to be interesting earlier on.

Another amazing read in this series about Hadley the very powerful Earth Witch. This is the eleventh in this journey for which we have seen a lot of maturing of not only Hadley’s powers, but also of friendships, love, and behavior.

Upon finishing, I was thinking to myself “Lions, Tigers, and Bears. Oh my!” Or maybe more accurate: Bigfoots, Wendigos, Witches, and Shifters, oh my!

There is something otherworldly out there killing cows and people and it’s up to Hadley and her motley crew to find the creatures or person and either destroy it or send it back to where it came from. And what are Clive and Margaret up to? What’s all the secrecy?

Join the powerful ones in a wild ride of shifting, mind reading, and love. It’s all here!

My next series choice is book 1 of 5 by Kathleen Suzette - “Ice Cream, You Scream: A Cookie's Creamery Mystery”. Review to follow.

The big event... or is it?

As things are heating up with the islanders and the DDA, run by Clive, another body is dropped after a night of strange howling.

It appears to be a tourist whose whereabouts the evening before are not easily tracked. Rumours of a wendigo have Hadley almost excited, another paranormal creature she's not even heard of, but the others are very sceptical.

When the husband identifies the body but the blood type and dental records indicate it's not his wife, the case is up in the air again. In the meantime, Clive has Galen out searching at night after Hadley runs into a random, already dying creature she can only describe as Bigfoot during the day. And while he's busy Hadley gets herself into another pile of trouble after a meeting with Marjory makes her forget about the danger and go visit her mother at the cemetery.

She's under attack but then something even stranger happens and the wendigo tries to give her information. Will the others be able to let the wendigo close enough to help or will they let their fear rule and end its life? And how will they get to the bottom of the situation with the plane doors opening when no one appears to have the power to do it, except Lilac?

Marjory might help but Galen is well aware she has her own end game in sight and her resignation from the DDA is not her end goal.

Hadley and the gang prevail

Really enjoy the Moonstone Bay universe, be fantastic to live on a tropical island where everyone was magical. Love that my favourite characters from other series have also visited and featured in stories. This Wendingo one made me smile and immediately made me think of Charlie, she’s not been to Moonstone Bay yet!
The way Hadley keeps growing into both her magic and her relationship with Galen is a pleasure to read. So happy to see them moving to the next stage of 5heir relationship.
The way the islanders are banding together to combat the tyranny of the DDA is a great example of people power and look forward to seeing what they decide to do next. The characters and location descriptions really make the world of Moonstone Bay come alive, I’d definitely want to visit as long as there were no murders!
Another enjoyable read, can’t wait to see what happens next for our characters.

Don’t waste your time

To be honest I only read the first six books in this series. I jumped to the last book just to read the last chapter to get some kind of closure for my time.
The set up of the series was so intriguing. It’s a great storyline with lots of action and intrigue. The problem is this author keeps repeating stupid little mishaps in the main character’s life constantly (like clockwork)and filling the pages with this mess repeatedly and never gets around to putting any real writing on the page. Character development is laughable. The way this author writes, you really couldn’t care less about the characters and just want to see how the story will end. The constant hints of explaining things more fully, but never getting around to it is beyond frustrating. I actually feel stupid for reading as much as I did. Good luck Amanda M. Lee. I am an advid reader and your style of writing is just not for me.

Please tell me I’m not the only one to see their relationship as codependent? We get it. You love each other, can’t imagine not being together, feed off everyone knowing you love each other, are the center of existence, blah blah blah.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Hadley! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The last five books you’ve gone to the graveyard have ended in some creature trying to kill you. Just stop going on your own. And let Galen do his damn job and stop inserting yourself into EVERYTHING.

C’mon, Amanda Lee, you need to switch it up! Too many scenes seem as though they’re recycled from your other books.

Hadley is becoming intolerable. How many times do you jut your bottom lip out and pour? How old are you?! And how does anyone think that’s cute?

Galen is a crap sheriff. He regularly puts Hadley’s wants and needs over those of the city, that he’s taken an oath to protect. I mean, letting the wendigo go one night because you wanted to have sex? Yeah, you suck.

Extraordinary paranormal cozy mystery series

This is an extraordinary paranormal cozy mystery series. A spectacular cast of characters and an extraordinary storyline. A magical tropical island somewhere off the southern coast of the United States. Hadley is a witch who lives in a lighthouse on the beach. Her boyfriend Galen is the local sheriff. He is a wolf shifter. Their group of friends include a siren a Cupid and a half demon. Together they have a strong friendship and make quite the group. The island is ruled by a group called the DDA who seem to be a bit corrupt and are always causing trouble at least lately. Once again there are issues on the island and someone dies. They must find out what’s going on what caused it and who’s behind it. We don and follow this extraordinary adventure. Exceptionally entertaining and fun read every time.

And the fight is on!

It has been coming for a long time, and the time is here.
The DDA has angered, cheated, and abused the people of Moonstone Bay's trust until they have decided; Enough!
The DDA's time of harassment and intimidation is over.
They won't go peacefully, but Galen, Hadley, and the rest of the gang are determined to do what's best for the island, and that means getting rid of Clive, whatever it takes.
Before they can deal with Clive, there is the matter of a dead body who isn't who she is supposed to be, a couple of Westley's cows that are killed but not eaten, and strange animals howling in the night.
The biggest concern for Hadley is... will she ever get the proposal
Galen keeps hinting at?
Read this fun and intriguing series to find out!

Power

With power comes great responsibility. I heard that in a movie and it kept ringing in the back of my mind when reading this book. The DDA has power and was not taking responsibility for their members actions. It could be a politician thing. We need people like Hadley and her group to say enough is enough and make people accountable for thier actions. We had innocent creatures brought into this plane and suffered, just to gain more power. I look forward to a wedding now.💙💚

I'm so glad I didn't miss this Book

I've enjoyed all the books. The one with the Mage and her daughter was a favorite. This one will also be a favorite. Hadley is gaining confidence as her magic grows stronger. In some ways she still needs to grow up, as many people do. But the friendships she has made are strong and I do enjoy all the characters. I can't wait for the next book.

Moonstone Bay

I love the stories and all the characters, but Hadley. I liked her character in the first book but after that she's acted like a spoiled brat. With all the arms crossed, lower lip out and pouting. She wants everyone to think she's a badass but she doesn't even know how she does her magic. She's nosey with people personal lives and omg who has that much sex and wants everyone to know. Why don't they just do it on a table at Lilacs.

Looking forward to next in series

Loves this addition to the series. Gaylen is my favorite for so many reasons. He and Hadley are great together. Hadley is becoming so much more confident in her magic. Looking forward to seeing what happens next with this set of characters. This book was full of endings and beginnings. Highly recommend.

Greed, Corruption and Witchcraft

As always, the excitement, paranormal and otherwise is unable to be resisted. It makes this saga hard to put down. Hadley and Galen continue to battle corrupt politicians, and exotic creatures and still have time for romance. When all the friends come together, look out Moonshine Bay.

So good!

This book had so a couple of important story arcs going on in it for this series and the future of the series. It was a very exciting action packed read. Several surprises along the way which made the read awesome. I love all the main characters in this series and cannot wait to see what challenges Galen, Hadley, Booker, Lilac and Aurora will face next time!

crazy intoxicating story

Read every book Amanda has written. This series is my favorite. They say location location location in real estate. But these crazy island adventures on Moonstone Bay, are bizarrely captivating. Each character is uniquely portrayed and their interactions and hilarious. Finished in 2 days. Couldn’t put it down.

Love, love it!

I have read this series from the beginning and it just keeps getting better! This one is my favorite! I loved the entire crew working together, everyone should have friends like this! To finally see the end coming for the DDA was great but the proposal...well...you are going to have to read it for yourself!

Good story

I liked the story line, I liked how the story wrapped up this phase of the story, BUT Hadley is the most annoying, self centered character. I keep waiting for her to grow up and stop being so spoiled, but here we are in book 11. I like the rest of the characters. Looking forward to having Mystic caravan on the island.

The Power of Four

As the four elementals, Hadley, Lilac, Aurora, and Booker have come together as a magical power, Galen has to have a tourist identify the body of his wife. Tourist deaths are bad for the island but continued issues with the DDA could end their way of life in the island paradise.

Nice.

I like these stories. Perfect little escapes. You go in knowing it's not going to be ' To Kill a Mockingbird' that's good. A quick entertaining break. This was one of her best. Got back on track and stayed there. Seem to be wrapping up an era. Part of me approves, a part of me will miss this world. Always leave them wanting more. Nice job Ms. Lee.

Opposites attract

Hadley & Galen are the center point of the series. Haley is a mouthy, sassy witch who acts like rules are a guideline. While Galen is the sheriff and a rule follower.

They and their friends come together to make a kick ass team that protects their island's secrets and tourists.

They all lived happily ever after, until the next problem arrives.

Tightly written

Finally. This book is tightly woven. It flows seamlessly. It will be interesting to see how book 12 is created. This story wrapped up the threat of the government of the island. Galen stood up to his mother much to her chagrin. The monsters had such a twist I never saw it coming. This was a great book.

Fantastic Four

Something killed a cow at Wesley's farm but did not eat it. Then something with claws killed a tourist. And then it got Wierd.

Lots of action, plenty of snark. Not one to miss if you have been reading this series.

Eagerly awaiting the next book!

Such a fun series.

Had a great time catching up with the characters of Moonstone Bay. Love seeing Wesley, plus more DDA drama is always a good thing, and watching a certain domineering mama finally get a reality check (of sorts) was *chef’s kiss* 😁
