Maggie Sawyer works the night shift at Country Mart in Federal, Idaho — where she was born and raised. Now living in a single-wide trailer after divorcing her cheating husband, she drives a beater with a heater and marches through life on her own. All her joy comes from her romance books and online reader friends.
At the moment, her favorite book boyfriends belong to motorcycle clubs. But, the fictional bikers with their one-true-love alpha hotness are not like the rough-scary-mean bikers who inhabit Federal.
When one of those outlaw bikers decides he wants her, she experiences some overwhelming déjà vu moments straight out of a romance book.
While waiting to meet his contact and receive the shipment of illegal guns, Lash entertains himself by watching the curves of the sexy cashier at the store walk to her car each night. With her nose constantly stuck in a book or on her phone, she never sees him watching her.
Living a lifestyle where tomorrow isn't promised, and the Feds are always hot on his tail, Lash can't fight his need to have Maggie.
Making her his woman is worth dancing with the devil.

I was the kind of girl who, at nineteen, would heave a sigh when a guy would roar by on a motorcycle. My fantasy was to have a biker boyfriend but my reality was I was terrified to have a bad boy for a boyfriend. I just thought I would like a bad boy but I didn’t really want to find out. The female protagonist in this book lives out my nineteen year old dream, well, my dream was actually a lot more innocent than this story.
Maggie reads lots of romance novels but she especially is attracted to books about bad boy bikers who are hot, hot, hot and then her wildest dream comes true. The two local biker clubs both have bad reputations so she isn’t interested in a real biker boyfriend, is she? Mr. Hot on a Bike is attracted to forty year old Maggie, of course he’s not some young stud but a mature fifty-eight and still wild but looking for a woman of his own. Lash is bad boy personified and attracted to Maggie who resists him until she can’t any more. She discovers he is as wounded and damaged as she is, so they are perfect for each other but she still tries to push him away.
I loved the Epilogue even though I anticipated the ending but I always say it’s not the end but the journey to the end that is the best part of any book. I enjoyed the very hot storyline and the characters and am still trying to recover from this oh so sexy read.
I won this ebook in a First Reads giveaway. Thank you to the author Debra Kayne.
This book was fantastic, I mean who doesn't want to be in a romance novel? Debra has truly out done herself! This is a story for the ages and I absolutely loved it! I'm not going to say anymore, get a copy and read it now!
I haven’t read one of this author’s MC books in a long while. The familiar names and faces of Moroad and Bantorus club members had me remembering these were the first MC romances that I read and they were very good. The H/h couple for each book have depth and physical appeal. Jeremy is one of the hottest characters I’ve read in any romance genre. I definitely remember him from previous books and had a visceral reaction every time he was on page here. Kurt is a good character, too, and has a brief cameo in this book. I liked in this book how Maggie and Lash are older, forty and fifty-eight. It added to the story for me. The sexy times between them were hot as hell. It was interesting reading a romance book about a woman who reads romance books and builds her life around them until she gets her own book worthy romance and a very nice HEA.
This is my first book by this author and I loved it! I enjoy biker storylines so I definitely enjoyed reading about Maggie and Lash. Lots of action and romance. Great secondary characters. I look forward to reading more from this book.
Okay it has been awhile since I really got into a book, but I was invested in this one. We get to see some well loved characters (Caiden makes a cameo!) and it feels like we're visiting old friends. Lash and Maggie are a mature couple which I absolutely LOVE! Romance is not limited to the 20's and 30's folks. What I found unique is the parallels to a story Maggie was reading. I felt like I knew Maggie and her Facebook presence, she could be one of my book buddies! I thought it was great how DK wrote in how many of us romance (and other genres) readers interact with fellow readers and writers, all that was missing was a book signing. Lash was all the things we love in our MC book boyfriends and the man is 58. It's funny but until it came up I never thought of his age. I can't not mention the epilogue, loved that twist. I recommend this book even if you haven't read any of the others as it will give you a great example of this authors writing.
Oh yeah, and the Caiden I mentioned ... he has his own story called The Higher You Fly and it is one of my favorites.
This is my first time reading anything by this author, and I enjoyed it. This book was a sweet and easy read.
There wasn't really a lot of drama, which can usually be okay but it just made the story seem a bit flat for and MC read. The agent bit seemed unfinished, and kind of pointless the way it was handled. I also had a hard time liking Maggie at first, she seemed exceptionally naïve and judgmental for a woman of 40. I'm 37 and there were many times I was irritated by her immaturity. I liked Lash even though he stayed mysterious. There wasn't a lot of his personality shining through, but what we saw I liked. The whole book to real life bit was weird.. are we supposed to think this was magic or something? Also there were errors... specifically using breath and breathe wrong.. like A LOT. Overall I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to others.
Ms. Kayn really out did herself. This book is absolutely brilliant and fantastic. I could not put it down. She put a different spin on this story. It's still a MC romance. Heroine Maggie is a 40-year-old divorcee, an avid reader of romance books and online book clubber that was her life, work and her books. Reading a book that parallels her life when she starts to get involved with Lash, a biker. At first, she is afraid of Lash and being with the biker. But as she gets to know and understands Lash's life as a biker, she starts to see him in a different way. He becomes someone special in her life. We also get to visit with some old friends from both the Moroad and Bantorus MC series. I think you are going to love and enjoy this ride with Maggie & Lash.
Haven’t we all dreamed of living inside at least one of our books? Be the actual girlfriend of the sexy book boyfriend? Well, for Maggie dreams do come true, she gets Lash of Moroad MC and she finds him at 40 when she is strong enough in herself and mature enough to deal with all this issues that stem from Lash’s MC life. I love Maggie and I love her with Lash. This book is one of the best written books I have read in quite a while. Ms. Kayn never disappoints, but this book was outstanding! May I also add that it has, one of the best Epilogues that I have ever read!!! Kudos to you Ms. Kayn you have outdone yourself with this book! I can’t wait for the next one!
Pros: 1.) Easy read with a decent and realistic plot 2.) It was nice to read a romance book with FMC that wasn’t in her 20’s and not too much older than me…gotta love a good age gap 3.) Even better than a good age gap trope, a free book from the GoodReads Giveaway 4) Classic and beloved nickname for FMC
Cons: So many missed opportunities with this, just felt like more time could have been put both into making the details better…and the editing as well. The age-gap trope was so bluntly written and just plopped in the middle of the sentence and then left so much to be desired in the actual storyline. Just a little more effort and detail here would have gone a long way. Similar issues with opportunities to play up the possessive alpha male.
Would I read this author again: with a TBR that grows what feels like 10x as fast as I can read 1, I wouldn’t turn back to the author unless prompted.

It was such a pleasure to read this book by one of my favorite authors! Inserting oneself in the shoes of a make believe character was surreal to Maggie but as an avid reader she saw so many similarities that she thought it was really about her and Lash. Not only was it a very clever concept but old characters were brought in from the author’s past series’ and, of course, they continue to be the rough and sexy bikers we know.
I loved the story and the concept and having Debra at the end was priceless! Great story, fun to read!
As usual Mrs Kayn knocked it out of the ball park!. As an avid reader I loved that the h was a book work like me. The H is a hot, sexy , biker who falls for the grocery store employee. I think the ending was brilliant! I totally recommend this book to any romance readers out there but especially the readers who love nd romance. If you haven't read the MOROAD MC series by this author you must add it to your tbr list!
Even Better In Real Life is fantastic! I LOVE Maggie!! She definitely gives Lash a run for his money. I love that she doesn't just fall all over him and makes him work for her. When her and Lash's journey runs parallel to what she's reading in a book, what's a girl to do but hang on and enjoy the ride. "Nah. Our life isn't a made-up story in a book. It can't be. Because you and me, we're even better in real life."
I won this book on Goodreads. I had never read Debra Kayn before.
Maggie is drawn to bad boy biker Lash, but his lifestyle becomes a huge hurdle for her.
I really enjoyed this book. The story moved quickly. Maggie and Lash were fun to read about. And there were some spicy scenes as well. Love the bad boy with a heart. Things aren’t always as black and white as they seem.
In would recommend this book and will be reading more from Debra Kayn in the future.
Maggie is a bookworm and all her life revolves around her romance books, book clubs and her online friends. After her divorce , she is a strong and independent woman working in the beautiful town of Federal. When a handsome and scary biker wants her to become his woman, she feels like a heroine in one of her favourite biker romances. But Lash is not a fictional man, he is even better! With the feds closing in on them, Maggie must overcome her own prejudices and prove her loyalty to her man. Even Better in Real Life is an original and unputdownable book about readers and the book heroes we love. What would happen if we met a man just like the ones we read in books? Would we be as accepting and open-minded in real life? Maggie and Lash have all the answers!
I've read a few of DK's books. Not a complete series, though. I'm not a hard and fast fan. I did enjoy this book. I liked that the h is older. The H is even older than her. She is an average lady with a little weight on her, and likes to read. Just like a lot of us. The book had some twists st the end. I enjoyed that. I'll get the next one.
Lash and Maggie are a complicated and passionate couple. Maggie is a divorced forty year old woman. Lash was attracted to Maggie immediately. I enjoyed reading about the motorcycle club and the other characters in club. I was presently surprised that Jeremy president MC was part of this series.
I never read a Motorcycle romance before. And I thought why not? so I chose an author that writes only about this trope. I really get the hype and why many people love them a rugged/ big-wolf biker. The story was good and the spicy scenEs were abundant. I just could not bring myself to enjoy it. I definitely don't like the trope. Motorcyle Club romances are not for me I guess.
"Even better in real life" is a biker romance, realistic and gritty like the rest of the Moroad MC series but the combination with a charming and clever romance reader meta perspective makes it quite unique and I think it will be loved by many who like their romance sweeter. Much recommended!
When reading we all seem to relate to a story character. Whether it's the main or a secondary, we relate. This book puts us there. What a great story line!! Debra has always brought uniqueness to us and we love her for it
The story was excellent and incredible, I enjoyed reading about Lash and Maggie . They have a complicated relationship. This couple had a terrible and abusive childhoods. The ending in this novel has many twist and turns.
I absolutely adored this journey! There were so many emotional twists and turns! This story is so different than others I have read, and it is just what I needed!! A huge recommend!!!
Great scenes The scenes where he ambushes her st home their first time and the confrontation after their first time tly after she pushes him away. When she gets worried when he's away for two days

As I was reading this book it gave me great joy because 2 years ago my man and I took a trip to Wallace ID. We visited a lot of the spot in the book and I could picture it in my head. Thank you DK
A sweet, short MC romance in which the heroine's life begins to mirror the MC romance she's reading. A little cringy but kind of cute. I didn't realize this was part of the Moroad series, which I haven't read, maybe the book would have felt more satisfying if I had...
