Gah, this freaking book! When a story starts off with steamy, secretive sex behind a barn during a picnic, you just know it's going to be good, and this book did not disappoint! I absolutely loved how we saw a role-reversal between the male and female MCs in how Raf was the one lusting after Megan after their one night stand. I loved how supportive and alpha possessive Raf was, especially in response to Megan's constant refusals. Megan had a great grovel in the end (which was great to read from a FMC!), and I cannot wait for the next book♡

Rebel is the second book in the Alpha Mountain series and features Hayes and Megan. This review is going to be short because I just don't have much to say about this story. Unfortunately, most of my reviews this past week have been kind of sub-par since my kids are back in school and everyone has to be carted around somewhere at all hours of the day lol.

This story was action packed and suspenseful but in being so, I think we missed out on some of the relationship development. Hayes is an ex seal and part of the mercenary team in town. He ends up working with Megan who is the local law enforcement. She has a past and keeps her cards close to her chest but when trouble comes knocking at her door, Hayes may be the only one that can save her. Will she let him?

These two start out as friends-with-benefits (which admittedly I am not really a fan of this trope) but as with all romance novels, that connection turns into something deeper and soon both of them are unsure of where their future can go. Both Megan and Hayes were likable characters and the plot was well done. Overall, a decent read but it didn't blow me away.

The Alpha Mountain series revolves around a group of men who served in the SEALs together. They have been a team, had each other's back, and when things go wrong, one dies, one loses his career, and he returns to his hometown of Sparks, Montana. As other team members leave the military, they will join together, starting a company, Alpha Mountain Security.

The second story in the series will mainly focus on Rafael' Hayes' Reyes and Megan Hager. They have skirted around each other but will have a hookup, and then she is done—but Hayes is determined and pursues her. Seeing her working at a traffic stop, he is impressed with his girl—and whether she wants to accept it, she is his girl. These two will have repeated hookups, but Megan doesn't do relationships. She has seen how people get hurt, and she doesn't want that to happen to her again. In many ways, Megan has trust issues—it is from the people she loved, and they left her.

The story's plot will have Megan, a Deputy Sheriff and Raf, a former SEAL, in a cat and mouse game of hookups, and where he wants to take it to a relationship, she doesn't. When things seem hopeful for them, the past comes crashing in on her—when her father shows up—and he has plans involving her. Megan is caught between family and her new life, which she has made for herself. How polluted a family can become and ruin things. The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly in people, and Megan is caught up in the game. The best thing that has happened to her in years is Raf—but she keeps him at arm's length. The saying, 'no good deed goes unpunished' could be the motto between her and her father. Abusing his parental relationship leads her to do what she swore she would never do again.

I like this new series, the characters, and the interactions. The camaraderie of the former SEAL members is strong, and each offers a different level of strength to the team. The chemistry between Raf and Megan and how they dance around their feelings for one another. Whether they know it or not, they both have poisoned families, which they must avoid at all costs. When they are together, sparks fly, and it's all good—but she has her fears. Will Raf be able to show her that he isn't like her family and wants a relationship and a future?

Rebel is the second book in the Alpha Mountain series by Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale and can be read as a complete standalone. This book is non-stop action, adventure, and suspense from page one. We have Hayes, an ex SEAL and part of a local mercenary team paired up with the extra prickly Megan who is the local law with a big secretive past. He has been after her since the first book and while they do start to hook up, Hayes is pushing for more, while Megan is trying to keep him at arms length. This is another well written, quick read by a proven author duo that comes through every time. Loved it and can't wait for the next book in the series!

There’s a lot to like in Alpha Mountain Rebel. I liked Megan‘s determination and Hayes’ never-quit spirit. These two start as insta-lust, but Megan is wary of getting close to anyone for fear her checkered past will be revealed and risk her position as an assistant police deputy. So Hayes goes along with Megan‘s friends-with-benefits position. But it doesn’t look like it’s going to stay that way for long…

The one thing that strained credulity for me in Alpha Mountain Rebel was Megan’s changing stance regarding her father. She does something she steadfastly resisted in the past, and I didn’t quite by the logic behind it. Once that ball gets rolling, it’s a really interesting read. But her long-standing insistence on avoiding her dad didn’t couple well with the actions she ended up taking over the course of this book.

But Alpha Mountain Rebel is a wonderful book. And it’s fun to see someone like Megan realize that there are indeed ways to beat the ghosts of your past, especially with someone as steadfast as Hayes.

This book was a fast read ! I enjoyed this book so much. I loved the character development throughout the book. Meghan seemed like she was using Raf.
Meghan is super tough deputy who never does relationships but she has a one night stand with RAF and he wants more than a one night stand :) RAF is hot and strong and Meghan has the looks of a beauty pageant queen.

Oh, Megan is a tough one. Betrayed in an awful way, abandoned, and now alone, she’s made quite the life for herself. But is she really as alone as she believes? Because Hayes is definitely checking all of her walls for a crack or a soft spot. He knows who he wants. He knows what he wants with her. And he knows that if Megan wants to pretend it’s only physical, he can play that game for a while also.

Even when it all goes sideways and Megan’s secrets come out, Hayes is all in. When it looks like she’s trying to save him from her, he and the rest of his crew are there to soften her fall. And when all looks lost, Hayes gets his head straight with a little help, then gets going with his plan to win and save his woman. And I must admit, I loved the twist that further saves Megan’s rear. It’s funny and one I had already sort of hoped for, so it was so welcome!

This series keeps delivering in unexpected ways and now I have to wonder what’s up with Quincy and Kennedy. Something is there. I just need patience to wait before we find out exactly WHAT that something is.

Is it hot in here? Oh, yes it certainly is! Hayes and Megan deliver an absolutely scorching blend of taut tension, sizzling sparks and flaming heat as their story unfolds. I must admit that Hayes really had my temp on the rise, even as he had me swooning. This man is a tempting and delectable combination of hot, dominate and protective ex-Navy SEAL and determined and steadfast hero that had my heart missing many a beat. I could really feel for Megan, but it took a bit to warm up to her. Their story had my attention right from the start and it never wavered. A tantalizing blend of emotion, splashes of humor, drama, heart and action flows smoothly throughout and reads easily. I loved it and am already eagerly anticipating book 3! This is my elective, candid review.

Megan is a force to be recon with in more ways than one. She has been on both side of the law and is currently work for the sheriffs department. She feels like she can’t trust and one and can’t bring anyone into her messed up life. Hayes is part of the Alpha Mountain Security and wants more from Megan than she is willing to give him. These two have crazy HOT chemistry, but will she trust him with her truth? Wow was this both emotional and action packed. I loved how protective Hayes was of Megan even though she was sooo closed off. I’m really enjoying this entertaining series. I enjoy how they always have each other’s backs no matter what. I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Hayes is part of the former SEAL team building their new home and base on a mountain. In this small town in Montana, it is slim pickings for young single males when it comes to dating.

This is the story of Megan and Rafael/Hayes.

Megan has a mysterious past, but now she's a deputy sheriff in a small town in Montana, and she is very happy doing that. She doesn't trust anyone or let anyone in, and nothing in her past has ever taught her any different. But then there is Hayes.

Rafael is determined that Megan is his, whether she knows it yet or not. She's happy to have sex with him, but then she makes him leave, or walks away from him. She has made it very clear that she only wants that and nothing more.

Megan is a very determined woman. She knows herself, and she isn't going to let anyone in, for many reasons. Rafael is just as determined. There were times when he really annoyed me though, because sometimes it felt like he thought that she wasn't a highly competent professional.

Overall though, I really enjoyed the book and their relationship.

This is the second book in the Alpha Mountain series but even though it mentions some details from the first book, it can be read as a stand-alone. Although once you've met the men of Alpha Security, you'll want to read the whole series. Even though the heroine, Megan, is a little difficult to warm up to in this book, I did enjoy the story. Of course, the reason she is difficult to warm up to is a part of the story and her background explains everything. But still, she certainly makes the hero work for a date! Overall, this was a very steamy and enjoyable romance and I look forward to the rest of the series.

Great story, wonderful couple with hot s@xy times more than enough angst and situations that really bring the pair closer in the end. I loved how determined Raf was to show Megan that they were meant for each other in spite of Megan's fear of being vulnerable. I also enjoyed how Raf just showed up at her place and the style that he used to enter her place every time lol

Never a dull day on that mountain!
This time it is the beautiful, standoffish sheriff's deputy and Hayes of the rolling R's.
You could describe their relationship as a serial-one-night-stand. Figure that one out!
But that works only as long as both parties involved are on the same page.
Well, they get a couple huge boulders thrown in their way and it seems their story is over before it really began.
But of course the team of Seals walks, drives, flies in to put things to right and, ...
Yes, of course there's a huge, stonking happy ever after at the end!

Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale’s Alpha Mountain: Rebel takes us back to Montana and the sexy SEALs and this time, it’s Hayes’ story along with Megan. It’s official, Megan is now my fave heroine in this series. I love that she used to be a thief and still has some mad skills. Her angst and feelings of inadequacies are tangible. And I loved her take on relationships (of all kinds) and how that evolved. And then there’s Hayes (Raf) who is the embodiment of sexy alpha, tenacious, AND patient—he has to be with Megan (heh). There’s a lot of things in this story that ticked boxes for me and their smexy times were delicious.

Book 2 in this Alpha Mountain series - the ex-SEAL team are all growly and protective about their women folk and will do just about anything to look after them, once they have their sights set on them. Hayes aka Raf had spotted Deputy Megan Hager in the previous book, in this one he sets about making his moves to make her his.

Megan had a terrible upbringing, her mother left her with her father, who used her for his own petty crimes and turned her into his little thief. But she got caught on a job with her father dumping her and leaving her to be apprehended and ended up in Juvi for a year. But she was determined to make a better life for herself and ended up moving back to her hometown to act as Deputy Sheriff, far away from her father.

Megan has a major distrust of males, which is completely understandable, so when Hayes makes his moves on her she is happy to oblige, but she is the one walking away after the deed is done, leaving Hayes used and abused. But Hayes is determined to be there for her no matter what and inserts himself into her life as a daily fixture, easing her stress by his bedroom skills, then walking away. It's a difficult thing to not catch feelings for someone whose skills are awesome and leaves her blissed out!

No one knows of her past crimes, but when her father turns up on her doorstep she knows she is in trouble. But she is determined to keep Hayes away from the trouble, which proves a difficult task when he is an ex-SEAL!

I loved these two, Megan takes no nonsense from anyone, able to handle herself, but finds it difficult to hand over control to Hayes, who likes to be dominant in the bedroom, but who will do anything to be with Megan, including giving the control over to her, which makes for some wonderful bedroom scenes! Hayes was wonderful with her, trying his best to show her he would be there for her no matter what, but the walls she has built to protect herself are very high!

Very hot and steamy scenes in this with some light BDSM.

A great read, very entertaining, looking forward to reading more of this series!

Vanessa Vale And Renee Rose have teamed up for yet another stellar book. Alpha Mountain: Rebel literally starts off with a steamy bang in chapter 1 and keeps your attention until the ending.

‘Hayes’ aka Raefel/Raf met Sheriff Deputy Megan in the first book of this series and from that first meet he has been determined to make her his woman. Raf is willing to let Megan think this is ‘just sex’ between them, but he’s playing for keeps.

Megan’s past taught her everyone leaves her and she can’t trust anyone. She’s not willing to let down her guard to let anyone get close or to allow herself to having feelings for someone. The sexy former SEAL doesn’t let a pesky high-tech security keep him out of her bed, he actually sees it as foreplay.

When Megan’s past comes back and makes her make a difficult decision Raf isn’t willing to let his woman push him away. Megan needs to learn to trust and Raf keeps chasing after her determined to protect her along with help from his Alpha Mountain teammates.

I’m enjoying this sexy and intense series. I’m ready for Book 3 in the series which will feature Kennedy the team’s IT guru and Quincy the team’s helicopter pilot. Sounds like another sexy and intense addition to the series.

Former SEAL Rafael Rebel Reyes, also known as Hayes, has set his sights on Deputy Megan Hager. He has her attention, at least when it comes to the bedroom, but she insists that they are only bed buddies and won't actually go on a date with him. He has completed plenty of tough missions and none were as important as convincing this beautiful, brave woman that she was his. There is a chink in her I-don't-need-anybody armor and he is determined to find it. Fortunately, he has the help of Ford's grandmother and all of his team because he is going to need their help to get his woman out of the trouble she has gotten herself into. But first, he has to convince her that he isn't going anywhere.

Megan had turned her life around after her father betrayed her and she doesn't need a man to 'complete her.' But there is something about the persistent Hayes that makes her question her decision to keep him as only a friend-with-benefits. When trouble comes knocking on her door and tries to drag her back into her old life, the only thing she knows for sure is that she has to keep Hayes out of it. Unfortunately, she forgets one little thing - SEALs don't run from danger, they run to it.

I love this series and I love our Alpha males. These authors never go wrong for me!
The reason this was lower rated for me personally was because I did feel like some of Megan’s actions and inner thoughts were quite repetitive so felt a little unnecessary.
Also there was a lot of closed doors scenes which I am NOT used to from these authors but that’s a personal preference lol. The open door scenes were certainly hella 🥵🥵🔥🔥
Although not everyone is a fan of instant love, I adored Hayes falling first and how quickly he was sure Megan was the one for him. He just wanted to look after her and protect her and it made my heartstrings tug every time.
The moment Megan realised she needed to stop pushing Hayes away was too darn sweet. And then steamy 😏

This was an enjoyable, quick read I read in about 4 hours. Can’t wait for the next one in the series!

The second book in the Alpha Mountain series, Rebel wasn’t just as action packed as Indie & Ford’s story but it was still a really great read!

Hayes fell hard for deputy Megan the first time he laid eyes on her and in typical SEAL fashion, nothing she did or said stopped his pursuit of her. This man was loyal, honourable had a good heart and was determined to the max - oh yeah, can’t forget that dirty mouth of his, his sexiness or his dominance!! 😉

Megan had secrets, secrets that she thought would change everyone’s opinion if her if they ever found out about them, especially Hayes. Man, she frustrated the bloody life out of me a lot of the read…… she either couldn’t see or just couldn’t accept - probably option two… - what was right in front of her. Regardless of how much Hayes showed her he was there through thick and thin she just couldn’t believe she was entitled to that kind of love and support.

The bad guys were really dislikable and I was hoping that Hayes might get to get rid of them at some point…. a girl can dream, eh?

This pair were hot and heavy and perfect for each other.

Loved that the Team was involved throughout the story and that we got to catch up with Mrs. L - I adore Ford’s grandma!!!

I’m really looking forward to both Taft and Kennedy’s stories - and hoping that I’m right about the gal for Kennedy!!!!

A definite 4.5* recommended read…

Megan has learnt in the most painful way possible that the only one she can count on is herself. She only allows people so close until she distances herself but one night was Hayes was supposed to be all they shared however he didn’t agree and now that her past has resurfaced the one person she needs to protect him from is her.

Hayes was enchanted by Megan and their night together was now he needs to use all his charm to convince her that what they shared is a beginning and not end. When her past resurfaces, he is determined to show her that she is no longer alone and that he will protect her with his life.

The chemistry between them is intense and Hayes is so supportive as he shows her that he will always be there for her both through the challenges and the successes.
