Durobrivae: a Roman town between fen and upland

Rate this book
Starting life as a Roman fort where Ermine Street crossed the River Nene, Durobrivae developed into an important Roman town just outside present-day Peterborough. It acted as a market place for the salt trade from the Fens in the east and for the ironworks and potteries in the uplands to the west.

A book for someone interested in the Roman Trade/ History in the Nene Valley. It is well written and I learned a great deal. The Plans were very helpful but some I found hard to interpret. The last chapter "Taking Your Interest Further" I have still to explore and see what I can pick up at Peterborough Central Library.
