Now a full-time author and screenwriter, Jamie currently splits her time writing books from her home in the English countryside and studying towards an MA in Comedy Writing with Falmouth University.

Overview: What's this? A 5 star book review from me that isn't a thriller? Yep! Shocking, I know. Sometimes a book comes along that I absolutely love to pieces and this is one of those books. I loved the first book (A Moment on the Lips) and reading this was like picking up with old friends. I already knew all the characters so easily jumped straight back in. Yes, there are a lot of characters but there's a handy list at the start to help! I read this in a day because I couldn't put it down. It's so funny and heart warming (and yes, at times crude!) But honestly at one point I was giggling so much my husband asked me what was so funny...
Good points: It's just a lovely story of friends and Christmas and makes you feel all warm and cosy inside. I loved everything about it. I would suggest reading the first book first as it will ensure you know the characters better, but you could read as a standalone I think which is good.
Not so good points: The only thing I was disappointed in is Richie...come on dude...not cool what you said! I'm a little dubious about him now...
There HAS to be another one!! And I can't wait. Want a Christmas cosy read? Read this. It's the perfect time of the year to pick it up.
The perfect Christmas follow up to a moment on the lips. I really enjoyed immersing myself in the world of Etta, Jenna, Pam, Gillian and the rest of the gang again. This time we meet them just in time for their Christmas break to the Scottish highlands. I've said this before but the characters are so well developed and the laughs are a plenty! One particular waxing incident really had me chuckling. Pam and Gillian's relationship was gold and I'm hoping there will be a next one so we can find out how Etta and Ritchie's relationship develops. I highly recommend this funny, quirky, uplifting book. No-one does hilarious real characters (all with their own unique set of idiosyncrasies) quite like J. Taylor does.
Thank you so much to J. Taylor for my proof copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was such a cute Christmas story and definitely put me in the mood for the holidays!
I haven’t read the first installment of the series (I definitely need to now!) so it took me a little bit to become acquainted with the characters and their personalities as the book seems to throw you right in. That is my fault though and not the fault of the author!
I loved all the friendships and quirky personalities of the characters. There are so many laugh out loud moments, the story is full of humor and leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. It’s a fast read and the pacing of the writing is perfect. I also really enjoyed that you could hear the characters accents in their dialogue.
Oh Wow! I loved this sooo much. I didn't think Jamie would be able to beat how much I loved the first book but I was wrong I loved this one just as much! I have missed all these girls so much, I literally resonate so much with each one of them and they are all bloody hilarious! There are also a lot of new characters in this one who I also love. Maggie is absolutely brilliant! I feel so sorry for Nicky I can't wait to see where that storyline is going. And I'm not 100% sure how I feel about Richie, I am on the fence, I was disappointed with him in this one. And I swear to god if he hurts Etta I will be swinging fists!!👊 This is such a cosy little Christmas read with so much laughter packed into it! I was physically laughing out loud to most of this book and reading the funny parts out loud to my partner who basically heard the whole book by the end! If there is one Christmas book you read this year make sure it's this one!
After reading the first instalment earlier in the year and falling completely in love with the girls (and Jamie of course), I was so excited for the next. This was easily one of my most anticipated releases of the year and oh my days did it deliver!!
Jumping straight back in with the action it was like a hug from an old friend! All the old favourites back with a lot more from some of the side characters from last time. Honourable mention to ode Gilly and Maggie here - they were outstanding! All the characters are beautifully written and in such a way they’re so real and relatable - if you aren’t like one of them, then you definitely know someone who is.
The plot was fun and had lots going on, some amazing subplots and side stories that made it all so interesting and involved all the characters so well! The main event being the trip to the highlands was brilliant, so funny with a cracking mix of characters to make it even more amusing. Even though the old crew weren’t as heavily featured this time, they were included and stayed relevant with their own storylines - which I loved!! I mean we’ve got lawsuits, sexual endeavours, unwanted guests, book club, everything was amazing!!
The humour, the aspect that won me over last time, was even better this time around. When I tell you I snorted like a pig several times, I’m not even joking! Wether is be Porsche and her ‘intelligent’ comments, Pam & Gillian’s love affair or Maggie’s pure commoner talk - it was just unreal! I have so many amazing one liners highlighted 😂 I still stand by the fact that Jenna is my spirit animal!!
As always, I’m waffling and could never do the book the justice it deserves. So just go, order it, read it, fall in love with it. Another huge 5 stars from me and I cannot wait to see what’s to come!!
This is book 2 in the A Moment on the Lips series by @jtayauthor and I am very grateful to her for gifting me an ARC as book 1 had me in stitches and this second one did not disappoint!
The story follows on from where we left the ladies in book 1 as they continue with their lives leading up to Christmas, let’s just say, it’s eventful!
I absolutely loved catching up with all of the characters as I feel a part of their friendship group when I read about them. They’re a diverse bunch but they all get on so well and are so supportive of each other. I have enjoyed seeing each of their characters develop further away from their weight loss journey. This book is full of laugh out loud moments right from the start, a particular favourite of mine involves Calpol technology… IYKYK! Although some of the characters didn’t play as big a part this time, I still really enjoyed Yana’s sense of humour and can still remember her accent from listening to book 1 on audiobook!
This book is hilarious, heartwarming and just the perfect feel-good read. I read it within 24 hours and now I can’t wait for BOOK 3 to find out what happens next!
Thank you again to Jamie for my ARC. I’m so pleased to be able to support deserving authors like yourself.
A Moment on the Lips at Christmas is out on Monday 31st October - it’s the perfect start to your festive reads!
I was really looking forward to this sequel and I was definitely not disappointed. From friendship to romance and holidays this had it all! I love that we follow on straight away from where the last book left off so we don’t miss anything. Reading about the characters again made me feel so happy, all the same not changing from Etta (my favourite) to Jenna and Pam etc. J writes in a way that you completely involve yourself in the storyline and feel you are right there with everyone. I was gutted to be left on a cliffhanger not knowing which way we are going to go but you can guarantee I’ll be straight on it as soon as it’s available!
I had to quote that line from Porsha it had me howling 🤣🤣
This book was hilarious. I’m not going to give away any spoilers but I lost count of the times I laughed out loud.
I love Pam and Gillian they are such a duo. I listened to the audiobook of the first book too and in my head while I was reading all I could hear was their voices which made it even more amusing to me.
The only problem is now I’ve finished I need more. I can’t wait for book 3.
Thank you for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
A Moment on the Lips at Christmas is the much anticipated follow up to ‘A Moment on the Lips’ and is just as much a great read as that was.
The first book introduced us to Etta and the girls from Elm Lodge Care Home, this book develops on those relationships but also gives us a better glimpse into Etta’s Family - who are just as much a crazy bunch of people!
I loved the setting of the picturesque Lodge in Scotland and of course the executive coach. Pamela has become my absolute favourite character as she is just a diamond.
This book is a great read, Christmas or not it will have you in hysterics at times, frustrated at others but overall filled with festive cheer.
I didn’t know it was possible, but I think I loved this one more than the first! A moment on the lips at Christmas isn’t my normal genre, but there is just something so comforting about this series.
I really love Jamie’s writing style, she manages to write in such a way that you really feel like you are in the story. Sometimes books written in diary form can be a bit boring, but Etta’s diary entries are so well written and tell the story perfectly.
Now to the storyline! As with the first, this instalment didn’t disappoint. Just as funny as the first, it had me laughing from start to finish. All the characters were back in full force, Pam and Gillian with their hilarious one liners and very over the top friendship, the care home gang, Etta’s mum and her ‘loco’ not legal husband. Every character was just as funny as the first book and it felt so nice to catch up with what they had been doing since the first book. There was so much going on in this story, nearly every character had their own drama going on (some very over dramatic problems😂) and Jamie manages to make every situation funny! The ending has left me with so many unanswered questions though, and this question has really changed my opinion on Etta’s love interest, so I’m sorry Jamie but you are going to have to knuckle down with the next book because. I NEED to know what happens next!!
I couldn't contain my excitement for this book as I absolutely loved the first one and sitting down with this book on Saturday night (and staying up until 2am to devour it in one sitting) with my coffee and snacks was pure bliss.
If I could describe this book in two words it would be HILARIOUS and RELATABLE. There wasn't a chapter I didn't find myself laughing out loud and there were so many scenes where I had to stop and text my mum or the girls to tell them because I'd been in that situation before. Even today I've been giggling with my mum about the Take a Break magazine bit
Join the ladies of A Moment on the Lips this festive season.

Because an A Moment on the Lips Christmas may not be a perfect Christmas, but it's definitely one you do not want to miss.
My thoughts.
As a man I found I couldn't relate to everything in this story but I still found this an enjoyable read.
It was a funny feel good story and Etta was hilarious at times, (we all need a friend like Etta.)
This was based in the Highlands and the descriptions of the views and the lodge itself with the stag heads and paintings made me want to go.
I hadn't read the first book and I do recommend that you do, because if it was as good as this it's going to keep you laughing.
“So there you have it. If you ever get a Christmas card that looks like it's come 'out of the box' from Pam you know you have pushed her too far.”
I read A Moment on the Lips earlier this year and loved it so was super excited and grateful to have been gifted an advanced copy of A Moment on the Lips at Christmas by Jamie <3
Since the events of book 1 the girls are closer than ever, supporting each other in every aspect of their lives and having some great fun together. The banter between them makes me laugh so hard, especially the situations that Yana and Val get themselves into 😂 And why do people keep taking beauty advice from Porsche? Omg I howled!
Etta, her family, and Jenna’s family head to the Scottish Highlands for an idyllic Christmas break planned by recent best friends and confidents Pam and Gillian. With everything planned to the minute, with 43 planning lists written pre-trip, what could possibly go wrong?
I absolutely love Pam and Gillian together. They make such a hilarious double act and made me snort with laughter in every chapter. I need another book just to hear what they are getting up to 😂
I devoured this book in one sitting - I just couldn’t get enough of Etta and the girls. I have so many unanswered question though as will be on tenterhooks until the next book - what is going on with Matt and Nicky? What was in the message from Nichole? Is Ritchie to be trusted? Will Pam and Gillian’s new business venture succeed? Jamie I need to know! 😂🤍
If you check out my posts regularly you’ll know that last year, A Moment on the Lips was pone of my favourite books. I was overjoyed when J Taylor go in touch and asked if I wanted to be read and review an arc of A Moment on the Lips at Christmas and I couldn’t wait to be back with Etta and the gang. This second installment (and yes I am hoping there is a third because I really need to know what happened with Nic’s predicament) takes us on a Christmassy adventure to Scotland with Etta, Pam and various family and friends. It is absolutely hilarious! My favourite aspect of AMOTLAC is the friendship element. How much these girls adore and stand by each other is so heartwarming and reminds me so much of my own friends. I love their antics and this book had me laughing out loud all the time. I enjoyed seeing Pam and Gillian defrost a little bit throughout the book, with a little help from Maggie – who is hilarious. Etta is such a sweet character and I adored her early relationship development with Richie, but often a little misguided and quick to jump in with misconceptions. However, I am still not entirely trusting of him yet. Yana is still my absolute favourite and I loved her re-enactment of the book club book – I spat my coffee out at her retelling. All the characters are real and relatable though and I really feel part of their lives whist reading. I cannot recommend this book enough – it’s festive and perfect for a lot of laughs.
❝ Nicky asked what happened to Porshas eyelashes. 'I was bawling my eyes out for two days solid I was, on account of me thinking I was about to get sent to Holloway and become Big Bertha's new plaything. Fucked them right up it did. They're not meant to get wet. ❞
This is just one of many belly laugh moments this book has to offer. Its fast paced and full from cover to cover of some seriously hilarious moments. The characters are your typical friendship group with their very diverse personalities and I couldn't help but wish I part of their crowd!
It's so good when a book that was on your most highly anticipated list turns out to be so fantastic!!! It was brilliant seeing how the characters have developed since the first book. We get to know them all even better and I can tell you, there a few shocks in store!
This book is festive, fun, humourous and just down right entertaining. It has to be on the top your pile tbr!!
Now I'm Patiently waiting for book number 3 as I can't stop wondering what it has in store for Nicky and her unwanted lodgers lol!!!
A huge thankyou to @jtayauthor for gifting me this ARC. 😍
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The writing was amusing and I enjoyed the way that you could "hear" the way that the characters spoke from the way that it was written. The book had me smiling and laughing the whole way through. There was always something happening, and what I enjoyed is that it was so realistic. What also made the book relatable was the addition of text messages.
I appreciated the character list at the beginning of the book because there were quite a few characters to keep up with.
The chapters were fairly short and so gave the story a good pace and flow. Some of the chapters had titles with dates and places which I liked.
The characters were brilliant. I love their personalities and how they all interacted with one another. Their friendship was lovely to read about and I love that they all have each others backs. Their personalities are all unique and yet they gel in such a way that brings hilarity to any given situation.
Lastly the settings. A Christmas in snowy Scotland is just the dream. Whilst there wasn't a lot of detail about the surroundings there was enough. I don't think that any more detail was needed because it was all about the characters and their interactions with eachother and the outside world.
Overall I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one!
For everyone who loved A Moment On The Lips, you need to read this. For everyone who hasn't read A Moment On The Lips, you still need to read this!
I have never been a christmassy book kinda person, but I have been promising myself that I would give more of them ago as I love the hallmark Christmas movies and this one did not disappoint.
The characters are so beautifully written that they actually felt like my friends, and what a fabulous bunch of friends they are! They are the perfect amount of crazy but so real and relatable that you cant help but wish they where real and in your life.
The side stories kept me hooked and I couldn't stop laughing whilst reading, the one liners got me every time and when everyone is together is just adds to the hilarity. There is always something happening, always someone doing something and always laughter on every page.
I loved the fact we got a list of characters at the beginning of the books because it really helped me keep track off everyone.
After reading a moment on the lips, I couldn't wait for the story to continue.... and to say it didn't disappoint, would be an understatement.
Straight from the off, it made me laugh out loud and it felt like I had slipped back in with my old friends and was catching up with them.
I absolutely love to read in diary entry format and I feel it just adds to the story.
Every character in the book has something going on which kept me turning page after page, leading to me reading this in one sitting.
I must say I'm not a fan or Ettas life interest, he did redeem himself at the end but I think I need to know more to truly make my mind up so come on J.... get writing!
If you want a light hearted, funny, real read, this is for you. It doesn't need to be Christmas to read it and be prepared to not be able to put this down once you start. It's well written, hilarious and honestly deserves to be read by everyone.
It was great to be back in this world again with these characters. They are such a fun bunch. Porscha was a favourite for me. However I do enjoy Pam and her funny / dramatic attitude. She reminds me of the mum from Gavin and Stacey.
I was really intrigued by Nicky's situation and felt the anger alongside her friends, especially when she didn't get her damn Christmas Dinner!!!! I have mixed thoughts about Richie. Quite honestly I'd have thrown him off the moving coach with his comments but that's just me 😂
This and the first one have been such cute, feel good reads. They are light, cosy and laugh out loud funny. Perfect timing reading this one because it was set around Christmas time! 🎄 I'm hoping for more as there were a couple of cliffhangers at the end and I just love these characters 🎄
I was so excited to start this one, I couldn't wait to pick it up and what can I say it didn't disappoint.
Its fast paced and kept me wanting to read on, just so I could find out what they were all getting up to. Such a light easy read, that I managed to devour in just over a day!
It was great to revisit the characters again and to see how they developed from the first book. I'm not going to lie, it did give me some laugh out loud moments.
This book is full of fun, festivity, friendships and humour, I would definitely recommend for a festive read! Now I'm eagerly awaiting book 3 to find out what happens, as there are so many unanswered questions.
A huge thank you to Jamie Taylor for gifting me this ARC, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I read #AMomentontheLips a few months ago and thought it was brilliant. It was lighthearted and funny so when I saw Jamie bringing out book two, I just knew I had to continue my journey with Etta and her friends. This did not disappoint.
It was like a perfect continuation from book one and I felt like I just fell back into enjoying the characters and what they got up to… and when the book is also partly based in Scotland, I knew I was going to LOVE it. I love reading about books based in Scotland.
The book made me laugh pretty much all the way through and some of the innuendos, crude comments just made it.
I love this was based at Christmas time and to be honest, it was just the perfect, light read for this time of year because I am in the Christmas mood already, lol.
I think this could be read as a standalone however, if you want to get to know the characters and their quirks, then you need to read AMOTL. If I were you, I’d just read AMOTL anyway, because why not!
Thanks @jtayauthor for sending me an ARC copy of your book, I have loved them both and can’t wait to read more!
Oh my god, this was amazing! I loved the first book (if you’ve not read it, why not?!) and as soon as I heard the author wanted beta readers for this one, I put my name down. I am so glad I did. I read this in one sitting of about 5 hours.
I loved Etta and her friends weight loss journey in the first book, full of laughs and tears and supportive friends. This carried on in the same way, and got even better. Her friends all have their quirks and are hilarious - especially Yana and her grasp of English, Jenna and her no nonsense chat, and Pam her step-grandmother who is just mad!
My favourite bits of this one were the waxing and Etta’s mums’ moment of revelation - just brilliant, both had me in tears of laughter.
I’m not going to say more as I don’t want to spoil it for people, just go get it and laugh/cry as much as I did.
This was a hysterical read. This had me laughing out loud do many times. Like the descriptions of what people are wearing. I felt so sorry for nikki having her boyfriends family basically move into her house and they kept saying they were leaving something tells me they are not. And I was so happy etta had found someone Ritchie even though they had a lot of ups and downs while on this little holiday. He did redeem himself but then I read the end and need to see what is gonna happen next. If reading in a public place beware you may get looked at if you laugh as much as I did lol. I'm now gonna go back and read the first book and am desperate to see what happens.
Another hilarious, heartwarming and brilliant read by J Taylor! 😍
Taylor is an expert at creating a relatable and realistic read and I’m glad that I’ve ended my festive reads on such a high. 😊🎄
From the very onset, I was hooked as this sequel continues from where the previous book finished. The plot was crazy and this read definitely takes you on a journey packed full of festive fun, laugh out loud moments and also highlights the importance of friendships. 🔥😂
I adored getting to know the characters even more and I also liked the focus on some of the characters that were less prominent in the first book. This read is also narrated by Etta and there is just no way that you cannot like her. She’s funny, witty, caring and has realised that it’s okay to live your life and have fun. 🥰
Pam and Gillian’s relationship blossomed further in this read and the pair are a right duo who never failed to make me laugh. I have to admit, this read was even funnier than the first and there were times where I had to put my Kindle down as I was belly laughing too much. 😂
This read is so heartwarming and I loved all of the references to National Lampoons and The Fall as it made this read ever so real and engaging. 😍
I would highly recommend you check out both AMOTL and this hilarious read. The Christmas Eve section was definitely not anticipated! 😂😅🤣
A huge thank you J Taylor for gifting me a copy of this read. I really did enjoy it! We definitely need more books from Etta! 🥰
A heartwarming, easy read just like the first installment. However, I found it a little difficult to keep a track of all the characters and their relation to the main characters/relevance to the story.
Also not sure whether it was just the kindle unlimited edition of the book but it was littered with spelling mistakes and weird grammar. Didn't stop me reading it in 2 days but did distract a little.
Review coming, can I just put it out there for new releases this Christmas, I am currently dragging my eyes through another book and this beats that book by a"big" author in this genre. Having read from both authors I would definitely automatically buy from J Taylor every time whereas the other author K*** nope definitely not as I just don't relate to her writing like I do with J Taylor's
