Emma's in her final semester of college and has only one thing in mind— graduation. She's so close she can practically taste her diploma, but one last mandatory math credit is still standing in the way.
The statistics class she chooses is less than ideal, but when she finds herself in the middle of an illicit relationship with her professor, things get messy.
He's her forbidden fruit in every way, but is it worth the risk?
Invi Wright is the author of several romance novels, including The Female series, Aine, and The Professor. She had just begun her career in marketing when she decided to start a new hobby— writing. After many tears and more anger walks than is probably healthy, she decided to pursue writing full-time and began the journey of becoming a self-published author.
Light and fun. Noah (29) is a statistics professor and Emma (24) is his student. He was a nice and all sunshine guy all throughout the book, giving the golden retriever personality. And Emma is okay I guess, I think most of her thoughts at the first half of the book were things she would do to Noah 😅
When they finally decide to get into this arrangement it was hot but I think the forbiddenness made it hotter. Noah clearly doesn't care about the consequences and Emma was the rational between them and the one always on guard.
I did struggle to connect with the MCs at the first half. I think Noah being all smiley and touchy at the beginning is a bit creepy and uneasy at least for me to read. But then I realized while reading the second part that was just him being a cinnamon roll guy. And eventually I've come to understand and like it.
So why the 3 stars?
- The first half didn't pull me in, there was something missing but idk what's that missing factor. Maybe it's also because majority of the book was focused on Emma's progress in his class, but I think that was expected since this is professor/student romance. But I find some of those scenes boring.
- I can probably get on with the Noah's reputation during his early twenties. But when he dropped the freaking bombed that he cheated on the one girl he seriously dated before Emma, this confession somehow tainted my impression on him. I never wanted my MMC to be an unfaithful jerk even with his previous women moreso with the FMC. Glad he was faithful to Emma now.
- That this was a single POV. I would like to know Noah's thoughts too or what are the things running in his mind whenever he looked at Emma
- That this ended with a HFN. I like bonus/extended epilogues in my book. Unfortunately this one doesn't have it.
Overall, this was still okay for a short read with 250+ pages only. No major drama and no angst, just some fluffy and cute story.
Just finished The land of wolves by this author, but since that’s not on GR yet, I’ll use this one.
I adore this author, her writing is so beautiful and the men she writes oh my gosh 🫠
The only reason why this isn’t rated higher is because I fell into a reading slump in August and I was reading this chapter by chapter so I stopped for a while and forgot a bunch of things, but otherwise the story is amazing!
I originally read this book through the author's Patreon and it is amazing! HEA with snarky leads is my favorite combination and you get it here! Invi does an amazing job of tackling some on the less pretty parts of life in a way that is not just believable, but wonderful to see the representation done so well as someone who also struggles. Keep being amazing Invi, I'm going to read every word you write!
Gahhh. Love this authors writing it’s so easy to read and her characters are just so lovable.
This felt like a fluffy forbidden romance. It was so fun. I was a little confused at some parts because it felt like the time jumps were random etc but in the end it didn’t matter.
