The dead body of a missing girl was discovered last week. Now Audrey's twin sister is gone. Audrey Bailey is riddled with guilt since Lyla was masquerading as her when she was taken. It looks like the stalker who has been attacking the Bailey and Carpenter families has raised the stakes. A twisted web of threats, accusations, and lies is spreading like wildfire from the Bailey and Carpenter families and enveloping the entire community. Audrey and her friend Warner, along with their parents, risk their lives, their jobs, and their sanity to find her. The most likely culprit is someone who was presumed dead twenty years ago. The only people the police are investigating are the Baileys and Carpenters themselves. Will Lyla be found, or will the tormentor succeed in destroying these families and their town? "Trapped By A Lie" is the third addictive novel in the 5-book "Moms Who Lie" domestic psychological thriller series by Brett Monk and McKenna Langford. These books just keep getting better and better and yes it was another afternoon read as was so addicted to it. Really would appeal to big little lies followers
Says it’s a 5 book series- I just finished the 3rd and it’s left hanging like the first 2- good story but I feel it’s dragged on and would like an ending!
Things are heating up in the small town of Toxey. Moms Maddy and Amelia are trying desperately to hold on to their secrets, including the fact that they are friends again. Now another teen has disappeared and someone in the shadows continues to leave threatening notes to both families causing conflicts and accusations. Will they find the missing teen before it's too late? Who is writing all the notes and how do they know things no one else should? This book was even more intense than the first two. Questions get answered, new information is gained, and new questions arise during this action-packed edition. This installment really made me think about a lot of things: friendships and being less judgmental towards others. It makes you think about old friends and the history you have with them as well as a sense of position in the community. This book is great for fans of Christopher Pike and Ann M Martin. I would recommend giving this book to a friend you’ve known a long time but maybe don’t speak to as often as you would like. The theme of rekindled friendship rings through as the mysterious things come to light. This is the third book in the Moms Who Lie series by Brett Monk and McKenna Langford and I can’t wait to finally find out the secrets and know who is tormenting Toxey town!
I would like to thank Brett Monk and McKenna Langford for a copy of this book. I am leaving the following review. Trapped by a Lie is the third book in the Moms Who Lie series. Each book in the series is more suspenseful than its predecessor. The town is still in shock after the disappearance and subsequent death of Sydney Hutton, a high school student. Now another student, Lyla, is missing. Who is terrorizing this once peaceful and safe town? This book is excellent. It is well written and thought provoking. The events that occur can realistically happen anywhere. No matter how much parents try to protect their children or how careful they themselves are, there is no guarantee that nothing bad will happen. I experienced a wide range of emotions while reading this book. At times, happiness at others fear and sadness. The character development in this book is perfect. I highly recommend this book. It is a must read.
Trapped By A Lie: "Moms Who Lie" Domestic Psychological Thriller Book 3, my third read from authors Brett Monk & McKenna Langford and the third of their Moms Who Lie series. An entertaining, enjoyable, and suspenseful read that I had ti wait 3 months to read. You know those horror movies that have sequel after sequel? These 3 books resemble the plot lines of them though you still have to read them to see how they’ll turn out. After reading Moms Who Lie: Domestic Psychological Thriller Book 1 at the end of the book I was offered a free copy of The Lying Begins: Domestic Psychological Thriller prequel which I’ll read next. “I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I'll definitely be reading more from this author and in this series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Lots of action happens in this book! Layla decided to deceive the stalker and dress up like her sister and then she gets kidnapped! But not real sure why the stalker was after Audrey in the first place! Audrey and Warren figure out where Layla is being held captive by accident while Amelia and Mia are following them. But while they are trying to rescue Layla the stalker sets the shed on fire. Mia and Layla about die in the process but they happen to see who the kidnapper is and it was their old friend Carson Price. Nora shows up at her sisters house all mad and wants to know about what happened to her niece and when her sister tells her she freaks out! I just knew Nora was behind the so called death of Carson Price somehow!
Honestly these books keep getting better. I am finding myself obsessed with the characters and wanting to know their secrets. I also seem to be picking up and the writing style which has allowed me to predict a few twists which I'm loving. The final 2 parts of this series can't come out fast enough for me. The bad part is I will miss these characters when the series is complete.
Received as an ARC from Story Origin at no cost and I am leaving a review voluntarily.
