Wonderful Story of Time Travel Destiny: Warrior Lady and Former Bodyguard
by Barbara Kelley
Protecting his Highlander is Book #2 of the Scottish Time Travel Romance series, written most magnificently by Laura Wells. This story occurs a couple of weeks after Book 1 ended. Book 1 was Saving her Highlander, which was the story of Lizzie, A historian from the year 2022, and John McEwan, the son of a Scottish Laird, from the year 1452. Lizzie fell in an enchanted well that is destined only for soulmates. Book 2 is about Isabel, John's younger sister in 1452, who wants nothing more than to fight in her father's army, but he refuses because she's a girl, and women are expected to get married and have babies. That's before she meets Harvey Griffin, a father of a young five year old girl named Skylar. Harvey lives in Dallas, Texas, but was on a much-needed vacation in Llyn, Scotland, leaving his little girl with her deceased mother's parents. One morning he goes jogging and falls in a different enchanted well than Lizzie had. When he comes out of the well sopping wet, he meets Isabel McEwan who is dressed in Medieval clothing and speaks with a strong Scottish dialect. He thinks she's Renaissance cosplaying that time period, until the two of them are attacked by members of the neighboring McFadden clan, and Harvey is struck in the chest by a real arrow that was meant for Isabel. She takes him to an elderly woman healer, he tells her how he fell in a well in the future, and the rest is literally history. Isabel is tossed between her growing love for Harvey, A man from 550 years in the future and her love for her father and wanting him to accept her as a warrior in his clan's army. Harvey is tossed between his growing love for Isabel and his need and desire to get back to his little girl in the future. With the warring McFaddens headed to the McEwan clan, Harvey decides to stay and fight, being sword-trained by Isabel, to make sure she lives through this battle. Then he wants to try to get back home to his little girl. This was such a beautiful book. I recommend it to everybody who loves romance and time travel. Think "Outlander", but only a better storyline. Will Isabel stay in her own time. Or will she try out the enchanted well herself? I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This book was great. I like the way Isobel found her independence. She and Harvey have found their future in the twenty first century. Their storyline was perfect. Now on the book 3.
This is the full book that was originally published as a 5 part serial.
Isobel is the Lairds daughter. She wants to fight and be a warrior but is prevented to by her father – because she is a girl.
Harvey is on holiday in Scotland when he falls down a hole into a well and goes back in time to 1452.
When Harvey gets out of the well, he meets Isobel. After he gets injured Isobel takes him to the castle to the healer. This is the beginning of their story. In this book there is action, intrigue, heartbreak and romance. I enjoyed this story. I received a free copy of this book and freely and honestly leave my review.
