Two pasts, one future, and a love that’s not promised…
When Nate’s wife walks out, taking his young son with her, he must face the damage his drinking has done to his life. While his ex-wife might not be acting reasonably, she’s not wrong on many points. Changing a lifetime of bad habits won’t be easy, though.
He’ll need support and unconditional love, neither of which is an option.
Sophia’s mother has stopped her from having a life. Caring for a drunk always has cost her relationships, opportunities, and even her father. When her mother injures herself, Sophia must make a hard choice. One almost as hard as the blast from the past comes in the form of Nate, the man she had a crush on when he was just a boy.
Nate needs help, but can Sophia dig deep and be the woman he needs while facing her troubled past?
Does love stand a chance in the face of addiction, pain, and history?
Life continues to be difficult for Nate, especially with pain from his accident and went back to bad habits i.e. taking several swigs of hard liquor to get his pain pill, a prescription drug down. The results findNate on the floor and unresponsive, when Sophia comes by for a check up on him. She enters through a window and calls medical support
Nate is angry at Sophia for calling medical help and loses his temper with her and tells her to get out of his life, she was never invited into it. Sophia is hurt not only by Nate's cruel words, but also her Mom's anger directed toward Sophia along with refusal to see Sophia. Sophia goes to her Mom's apartment and finds some boxes that are supposedly her fathers boxes. She's never looked in them and finds a heartbreaking lie from her mother. Every year of Sophia's life that her father was not present in the apartment he requested custody of Sophia, up until her 18 year. Her mom was feeding her a horrible lie that her Dad never wanted her and never tried to have her move in with him and his new family!
After finding this paperwork and dealing with this huge discovery she goes home and receives a call from Nate, who is feeling bad about the way he treated Sophia and is very apologetic and informs Sophia he needs her help as he wants to get his life back. She comes to his home and is telling him to collect all alcohol and dump it. Supporting him and giving him the confidence he needs to take these necessary steps...which are huge steps.
Received an early copy for my honest and voluntary review.
Nate is in hospital knocked down by Sophia's car .Sophia tries to help him but at first he refuses. He is found unconscious in his home and Sophia steps in to help but Nate is angry and rude to her. After her mother's rejection Sophia is upset and goes to her mothers home and finds a box of documents that makes her more upset. When she gets back to her home she finds Nate there to apologize and ask for her help. She desides to help him and be a real friend. A Great and Heartwarming Read. I am on the ARC term and I leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.
I do truly love this series! Sophia is a kind person that has devoted her life (even as a child) to care for her alcoholic mother who is so unappreciative...but Sophia stays. Putting her life on hold for a mother who doesn't deserve her. Finally she gets her mother into a program for addicts and has a life...in walks Nate, her high school crush...also am alcoholic. I wish Sophia could meet a good person who isn't a current addict. Enjoying this series very much!
Once again Seinna has written a book to devour in one sitting. Book 4 focuses on Sophia's struggle as Adult Child Of an Alcoholic. Sophia trades one alcoholic for another in typical co-alcoholic fashion. I so wanted to slap Sophia silly. But, she needs to hit her own rock-bottom. I'm eager to read Book 5.
After hitting bottom with alcoholism and asking for help with a woman, he is trying to get his life back in order and get the help he needs to see his child. We’ll see what happens. Good book.
