When lab researchers and scientists are discovered murdered, Morgan Stark, brilliant doctor-turned FBI agent, is summoned to decode the medical clues. What is the connection between these people? And who is next?
Morgan Stark is a renowned surgeon, acclaimed by his colleagues for his brilliance as a diagnostician. But when his close friend and protégé resident is murdered, Morgan feels compelled to help the FBI decipher the trail of medical clues and bring the killer to justice.
FBI Special Agent Danielle Hernandez, 28, a rising star in the BAU, equally esteemed by her colleagues for her brilliance and determination, is not used to turning to a doctor for help in solving crimes. This unlikely partnership, though, may just surprise them both.
A cat-and-mouse thriller with harrowing twists and turns and filled with heart-pounding suspense, the MORGAN STARK mystery series offers a fresh twist on the genre as it introduces two brilliant protagonists who will make you fall in love and keep you turning pages late into the night.

Characters are a little more upbeat than in the 1st in series, pleasant thing. Liked the writing better this time, as well. Narrator is clear and does well. .
TL;DR 3½ stray backpacks out of 5 — a turbo-charged plane read. Splatters, snark, zero nutritional value, but hey, I licked the plate.
Door-kicks open. First page and a virologist is face-down in petri-dish soup. Instant stakes, no pre-flight safety demo.
Rylie Dark gifts us Morgan Stark. Surgeon-turned-fed who quotes med-speak. He's that friend who can remove your appendix and roast your Spotify Wrapped in the same breath.
Breadcrumb game. The lab-lingo clues sprinkle just enough Grey’s Anatomy glitter so I feel smart, but I’m not Googling Latin roots mid-chapter.
Fourth-book fatigue. Cameos from previous cases crowd the hallway like exes at a family cookout. You’ll get the gist, but it’s a lot of name tags.
Prose so glossy it squeaks. Every eyebrow “arches with determination.” Chill, CoverGirl.
Plot GPS is on. If thrillers are your cardio, you’ll jog ahead of one big twist long before Morgan does.
Beach candy. Toss it beside your SPF, crush it in two sittings, and side-eye anyone who examines their cold brew. Do it if you crave espresso-paced murders, scalpel-sharp jargon, and a hero who can stitch you up then psycho-analyze your love life. If you’re hunting for lyrical soul-searching, keep scrolling.
In chapter five, the antagonist reflects on civilization and scientific advances versus natural selection when he says, "Lost through letting science outpace morality. Lost through a search for prolonging life at any cost with no thought to what it was doing to the planet or to the quality of life that they were prolonging. There weren’t enough resources. Even if there were enough, the things we had enough of weren’t evenly distributed. Food. Fuel. Clean water." I can empathize with this view point. Healthcare costs have skyrocketed, spent on the maintenance of chronically ill, non productive individuals, leaving healthier individuals with less resources and means to improve quality, productive lives. Globally, populations are getting sicker, using up precious resources that will eventually run out.
Although Morgan is at Quantico working to become an FBI agent Danielle requests his help to investigate the murder of a scientist, and soon after another victim is found, and a few days another one. There is nothing to link all the victims that makes sense and all the fresh looks that Morgans brings to the case reveal little until they find a lead that could cost them their lives as the culprit is totally deranged. Great story and plot, and it seems like Morgan has no regrets regarding the choice he made. I thank the author for this ARC.
This is a different take on FBI murder mysteries in that a medical doctor is acting as a consultant while working toward becoming an FBI agent. The medical clues tied with standard forensics make for interesting solutions in the apprehension of the killers. The books are well written and flow so much so that they are hard to put down.
Pretty good I liked the other ones better tho I’m very curious how it’s going to end I’m on the edge of my seat kinda. I almost don’t want it to be over, I did really end up liking these books even tho they aren’t necessarily my genre.
What an interesting twist MS Dark has thrown us into with Dr. Stark as an FBI consultant & now he's training to be an actual agent, and working alongside Special Agent Danielle Hernandez solving cases that have a medical twist!! These books are amazing!! MS Dark is an amazing writer!! She continues to pound out thrillers that keep me engaged & on the edge of my seat & reading way later than I should!!! Read. These. Books.
I like this series. In future installments, I hope the author changes the plot, so far it's the same thing: 3 victims, medical connection, rush in when the killer is about to kill his next victim.
