When you live your life ten seconds at a time, there’s never a chance to slow down.

I came home to Santo Domingo intending to find the man who killed my brother. I was plunged into a world of magic, mayhem, and sexy street racer girls who can take animal form.

I discovered that I have the power to awaken dormant shifting magic in women. For every one I add to my pack, my power grows. I’m already a lot stronger than I was – but it may not be enough, because we’re still on the trail of the shadowy group that got my brother killed. And the more we discover, the worse it gets.

That’s not all. The local racing scene has taken notice of me and my shifter girls, and not everyone likes the challenge we represent. The Office of Eldritch Affairs has been sniffing around, and it doesn't help that the special agent in charge is an old flame.

And the most dangerous part? The beautiful daughter of the most powerful sorcerer in town is determined to earn a spot in our pack – no matter what her father thinks.

As fast as my life has gotten, it’s about to get a lot faster.

Shifter Girls: Overdrive is a slice of life harem adventure set in the Demon Hunter universe and contains unconventional relationships.

Incomplete

Not sure how I feel about this series at the conclusion of this, the second installment of Shifter Girls. To be sure, it’s a very different take on the concept of were-folk: ‘Awakener’, and what role they play in the world of shifter folk is certainly a new page in the catalogue of terms and ideas on that subject. Sadly, the character development this far for this MC feels stilted and two-dimensional.

While I like the story concept, the actual execution has begun to struggle. Too many characters introduced too early just seems to have scattered and diluted the plot. While there seemed to be a frantic pace to fully integrate the harem members, the business of ‘Not yet, not yet’ with the Else character is jarring and feels aimless, especially when that arc was ‘not yetted’ into the next volume. The nemesis arc is beginning to groan under the weight of its increasingly cumbersome complications.

The idea of ‘awakener’ is novel, and I’d like to see the author explore it more; hopefully a next installment will be written and the story tightened up.

I was eagerly awaiting this, and I wasn't disappointed.

Like the previous book "Redline", this has engaging, likeable characters, a whole lot of plot, and rather a lot of furry group sex crammed into its pages.

There are not many new characters, so the story really gets a chance to run with the characters we already met, and we get to learn a lot more about them.

It is a sequel to Redline, so you need to have read that. It is in the Demon Hunter universe with some crossover, but you don't need to have read that, and I almost think this would be even better experience for those that haven't read it - seeing Jimmy and his girls from the "outside". I remember once reading a book that I didn't realise was a sequel, and being really impressed by what rich pasts the characters seemed to have, and I think the Shifter Girls stories benefit from being in a setting that has been worked out in the other series.

I can't really say that the characters' relationships develop slowly, since the whole thing takes place over a matter of days, but at least days are longer than minutes, and we do get some sense of people learning about each other and changing.

The story doesn't conclude here, which was a relief because I'm not ready for this series to end.

This series has turned into a lot more than "slice of life" haremlit. It integrates with the Demon Hunter books (but you do not need to read that series first).

The harem structure is handled very well. Jake's attributes as an "Awakener" provide very interesting world-building. It is really a unique concept. The tension of more and more shifter girls wanting to join Jake's harem is being well displayed (and, yeah, I know how that finalizes since there is a scene from Demon Hunter about that).

The antagonist plot is nicely developed. I don't get all of the car culture references, but that is OK.

I am very much looking forward to the concluding book.

High Speed Harem

Okay, the slice of life tag is a bit misleading. This is a wonderfully crafted substory that has bloomed into a fully realized power epic. The characters have plenty not room to grow, and the world is expanded bit by bit as our MC explores it as well. I need this story to reach at least the next volume, which has been set up to be a major awakening in this shared universe. I can't wait to see how the event contained here impact the greater narrative. More please!

Turbo charged action.

This spin-off has the potential of rocking its own place in this world. Again characters that relate and are easy to enjoy. Well placed information on the how's and why's of the craziness crashing around the main character. The next installment is worth waiting for.

pretty good, but ends on a cliffhanger

interesting and I’m looking forward to the next one. however, it seems like there are pieces missing and some problems,s just seem to be there just to keep the story going. Hopefully the next one will clear things up a bit.

Very enjoyable

Not the usual MC had problem, collects females, solved problem book. Instead it feels as if the characters are real people, with real problems, that they have to figure out with the help of their"family". Good read and a great build up.

Fun and sexy.

This story flows well and captures the audience quickly. The car thing isn't overly done so for those not into that it doesn't detract from the story. I like cars and drive a Mustang GT so that was a bonus.

The first book got me....

It's funny. I didn't actually read the first book, I listened to it, needing something to listen to. I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to read the the sequel. Now I want to see what happens next

solid second book

Pretty good, and definitely wasn’t expecting Katie’s shifting animal. Enjoyed the read though and tie in with other universes that the author penned .

Cliff Hanger!

After hearing about a mole I was afraid that the case of BSC would be shut down. The mole must be very high in the DC organization!

Yep, this is what I was hoping for when I read the first. The characters are actually progressing in the relationship which I love. The worldbuilding is growing at just the right amount. Good stuff.

This is book 2 of the series (not book 1 and goodreads currently claims) and a perfectly decent continuation of the series.

If you liked book 1, you'll like this book. If you didn't, you won't.
