Can she find the actual killer before the school board puts coal in her stocking? Tea is for Tinsel by Karen Sue Walker – A few Christmas spirits will help April May solve a mystery while reminding her of the reason for the season.
I loved these eight stories set at Christmas. "Killer Christmas" This was entertaining and, in spite of a murder was seasonal. "Christmas most shocking" This was amusing, with two friends on the track of a killer elf. "Slayed in a Manger". A nativity scene provided the setting for a murder and the characters were interesting. " Gingerdead House " Another exciting story with gingerbread houses playing their parts in the mystery. " Its Beginning to Look a lot like Murder". Tracking Santa on his journey, Grace, becomes embroiled in murder. " A Very Merry Murder". Bizzy gets on the case, when a local baker is killed. " Decorated For Death". A school's Christmas program is disturbed by a body under the Christmas tree. " Tea is for Tinsel" A take off of Dicken's "Christmas Carol" leads April May to rediscover the magic of Christmas.I A very good set of stories.
What a delightful anthology of short Christmas stories! Eight stories of murder, all different and all with happy endings. I had only read books previously by Karen Sue Walker, who provided me with the ARC, but all the stories by the other authors who were new to me, were fun to read! Hope you too choose to read these stories and maybe find a new author to you also.
This collection of Christmas stories is such a bargain and will appeal to all of us who really enjoy holiday mysteries. Christmas Most Shocking is my favorite in the anthology. After a difficult year, I really needed a good infusion of spirit and this caper with two seniors setting out to find the truth behind this shocking (pun intended) crime really provided it. Bev and Queenie have a long history of animosity, but they have one important interest in common, sleuthing. Their ultimate collaboration leads to some wonderfully entertaining incidents including their jobs at Santa’s FunWorld and their laugh out loud antics as they close in on the perpetrator. I loved this senior “odd couple” and I will definitely be reading more in the series. This is my honest review of an ARC I received from the author.
Silent Fright is a fun collection of cozy mysteries, all centered around the Christmas season. My favorite has to be Tea is for Tinsel (Karen Sue Walker) as she's the author I'm most familiar with from this gathering of writers. Lots of twists and turns with unexpected characters popping up in unusual ways. Very entertaining set of stories. I received an ARC; this is my honest review.
Silent Fright : A Christmas Cozy Mystery Anthology
I received this book as an ARC from the author and I’m writing a review because I want to. This selection of stories by various authors are some of the best I’ve read in a long time. Highly recommended!
I enjoyed all of the stories, but Karen Sue Walker's version of A Christmas Carol was my favorite. Next was Lynda Brunelle's . Yes, I often replaced my favorite with the next one I read. This book is a hoot and you will love it. Don't miss it!
I was looking for some light-hearted murder mysteries with twists, turns, and laughs along the way. This book did not disappoint!!! Just what I needed for relaxing with a warm blanket and hot tea as the holidays approach!
An enjoyable anthology of a variety of cozy series’ installments. I enjoyed reading different authors and their main characters that are all new to me. Looking forward to reading more of each of these authors young forward.
Silent Fright is an enjoyable collection of Christmas cozy mystery novellas.
Clarity Bloom, the star and protagonist of the Clarity Book cozy mystery series, stumbles across a dead body while helping her parents and siblings at the Bloom Farm Christmas Market and immediately sets off to find the culprit. With a pile up on the highway that has the police tied up, Clarity must find a way to keep anyone from leaving the scene. Clarity's family seems like a hoot and I'm looking forward to reading this series by Martina Dalton.
In Gingerdead House, Poppy Lewis, the protagonist from the Poppy Lewis cozy mystery series from Lucinda Harrison, finds herself investigating a murder the police believe her friend committed. I love Poppy's determination to clear her friend's name and the small town of Starry Cove has plenty of interesting characters. I am looking forward to reading Murder in Starry Cove, the first in the Poppy Lewis series.
I highly recommend this collection of Christmas novellas and, even though I have only read two of the stories, I'm thrilled that I found two new authors to read. Happy Reading!
* I received an ARC from an author but this review is my honest opinion.
I was so pleasantly surprised to read a wonderful collection of holiday short stories in one place! I am even happy to say I found a few new authors to follow. Killer Christmas was so much fun to read even through there was a murder involved. Clarity and her large family bind together to solve a murder that due to the weather kept the police for getting there in good time leaving a killer running loose. I loved the crazy family! Gingerdead House was fun to read and Poppy is a great character in search of a murderer to free her friend of suspicion. Christmas Most Shocking had me laughing while the two elder sleuths go undercover to find a murderer. Lots of laughs in this one! And Tea is for Tinsel was amazing since it was a take-off on Dicken's A Christmas Carol with the main character, April Mae not really up to celebrating. These are just 3 of the incredibly fun stories. This is a must read anthology with short stories that go by so fast! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This is a lovely collection of Christmas stories. All the stories are well written and entertaining, but my favourites were Christmas most Shocking by Shari Hearn, a funny murder mystery, and Tea is for Tinsel by Karen Sue Walker, a very cleverly thought out modern day Christmas Carol. They got me into the Christmas spirit instantly. Recommended reading for the holidays!
I received an arc of this book and so glad I did. I’ve only read Tea is for Tinsel so far but thoroughly enjoyed it. If the other stories are as good as this one, I’m in for a treat.
