I'm a little surprised at how much I liked this first volume. The main character is precious, the character design is SO good and the story is interesting as well. Can't wait for more!
May I interest you in: 🔪 another fantasy shonen manga (the story is nothing special or out of the ordinary, but it is quite enjoyable) 🔪 action + monsters 🔪 Tao, aka the hot, powerful and skilled lady MC 🥵 🔪 Tao and Alma's sibling-kind-of relation 🥹 🔪 great illustrations
The first volume kicks off with an interesting start so I‘m hooked. I like all characters designs so far, especially Tao’s and Alma’s. I think the dynamic between the two is unique and I'm looking forward to more. Otherwise you can draw a lot of parallels to Chainsaw Man or JJK, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I'm really excited to see how the topic of "demons" is dealt with in this Manga and which organisations and actors may come into play.
I’m surprised how much I already love these characters after just one volume. The art is beautiful, and the dynamic between Ms. Tao and Alma as well as their individual personalities are really fun.
The plot is pretty reminiscent of Chainsaw Man, but Gokarakugai stands out nonetheless because of how quickly it establishes solid side characters and their backstories. I became attached to all of the people Ms. Tao and Alma helped within only a few pages, adoring Yuki and Luka’s sweet bond of friendship, and immediately sympathizing with Isato’s family tragedy. I’m already hooked to the main cast, and knowing that the author is able to make me care for side character so effortlessly, I’m really eager to continue this manga!
It's been a while since i got so excited after reading a first volume. I absolutely love the story! The characters are so intriguing and the art is very pretty!
This was a fun series starter. Alma is very likeable, and Tao is very hot. This particular volume was basically just a basic set up introducing the world and characters, and I'm interested enough to pick up another volume.
This title has just been published in France after a major advertising campaign and I have to admit I bought it on the basis of its above-average design.
After that, if I'm honest, it's really only the artwork that's above average. After this first episode the series seems very generic. The characters are immediately endearing, as stereotypes can be: Alma is cool, fun and a bit silly but powerful, while Tao is the pure ice queen, jaded but super badass. The threat posed by the magas seem quite innocuous at the moment, and the future revelation of hints of secrets slipped in here and there probably won't make me fall off my chair.
In short, it's certainly not the manga of the year, but the characters are cool, the action is well-paced and the drawings are beautiful. It's not so bad after all.
This was fun. I’m not rushing to grab the next volume but I could definitely see using the library to grab more volumes next time I want a supernatural adventure sort of anime. I enjoyed this quite a bit.
LOVE THE ART STYLE OMG. love the characters alma MY LOVE MY DARLING and tao…. i need them both PLEASE! really enjoying the plot and the actions … overall can’t wait to see more of this series
I’m very biased about 極楽街 because ‘Alma’ looks like a character I really like, and honestly that’s the main reason I picked this one up. Whoever invented “the red-haired, blue-eyed, crazy but also heart of gold guy”, thank you for your service to the world.
I generally don’t read shounen manga (in the rare occasion that I do read manga) but here we are . . . The art is really pretty and the story kept me interested throughout the volume. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next volume once it releases.
Tao is fanservice for a specific demographics and it's me, I'm the demographics. She can kick me in the face and I'll say thank you. Jokes aside, I was kicking my feet the whole time. This was so much fun. The art is utterly gorgeous and the hotness of the characters is illegal. Ate this all up like Alma the matcha bisquits.
okay shonen is so back even with the first volume the art is so fucking cool and the premise????? yeah this is definitely excellent we love a half human half demon main character with his pretty mentor and found family (potentially i just be yapping)
EDIT: It's officially getting serialized!!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳 First chapter out next month! (07/07/22)

I want Tao to crack my spine like a glowstick, break my bones, and step on my throat in the most degrading way possible I am nothing but an object for her.
If I had even half an idea what was going on in this world maybe it would be 4, but I do not lol. Also, I don't really like that the art style goes sketch mode during fight scenes. I do love the characters, though, and I can see myself reading more of this after that cliffhanger
I rlly fw the character designs, and the plot gives me the vibe of both BSD and Sherlock Holmes stories (mostly with how it is paced and how the chapters are constructed), I initially struggled to engage with the it but once it got going I was having a blast p(^-^)q
