It was ok. Too difficult for a level 2 book. Besides the weird Sci-fi names, every other word were too big and long for a level 2. My son liked the pictures so he still forced himself through it. Overall I wasn't impressed with the plot or the book.
This is a Level 2, "beginning to read" reader, aimed towards little kids. Do little kids really need to read lines like these?
"TC-14 tried to trick QuiGon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. He led them into a room that filled with poisonous gas."
"Once, a big machine in a factory pulled of C-3PO's head by mistake."
"Uncle Owen nearly bought a droid called R5-D4. But it was faulty and its head blew up."
How did anyone think that this was appropriate material for a children's book? Fortunately, my child can't read yet, so I was able to just make stuff up. Something a little more pleasant.
I liked it because they talked about my favorite droids and my favorite droids are R2 D2 C 3Po R5 D4. Why i didn't like it is because R2 D2 and C 3PO got kidnaped and the kidnapers made them do bad things.
I thought this was a cute book. You get to see all kinds of droids from the movies and what their jobs are. I think though that the reading level is off. Probably a higher level, at least a “Level 3: Reading alone”, would have been better.
I love how this series treats everything so scientifically. however, I felt like there was too much and the vocabulary way too not basic. a good introduction for adults to droids.
You get to learn about all the special features that R2-D2 has, his friend C-3PO sometimes falls apart, and there are lots of other good and bad droids in the galaxy.
My daughter loves Star Wars, but didn’t love this book. This is her rating because it talks all about droids. She wishes it was less informational and more of a story.
This beginning reader introduces the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, describes some of their adventures from the Star Wars films, and gives general information about droids.
Another great early reader in the Star Wars series. This one was quite interesting, even for the parent, as it mentions many remarkable droids that make an appearance in the Star Wars movies, besides giving you lots of facts about R2-D2 and 3-CPO. It also gives more general examples of utility droids found in the Star Wars Universe. As in many of the other books in this series, at the end of the book there's a little quiz that my son loves to do as well.
Actually, this is an informative overview of many of the droids seen in the various Star Wars movies. I think my preschooler would give this 4-5 stars, since she asks me to read it to her multiple times a day. I guess that is where the "yawn" comes from. No story + beginner reader + excessive repetition = yawn.
Great back story and information on the two loved robots from Star Wars. For the true fan of Star Wars but a little dry for someone who is intersted. Ages 4+
