Told in multiple points of view. Contains mature scenes, and adult language.
This was my first mermaid (siren/trident) shifter book and I wasn’t disappointed.
I previously read Ivy’s story and wasn’t impressed by the writing of that series but this series i really did enjoy. I feel like I now understand Ivy a little better so it would probably make more sense for me to re read her series now I have some more details and understand some more things.
In book 1 I initially didn’t really like the boys, actually I just didn’t really like Jax, which I think you were supposed to feel like. Even though we saw things from his POV along with the other guys, I still thought he was a bit of a pussy because he was always going along with his fathers wishes.
His dad is an absolute prick and he didn’t deserve a happy ending.
I’m interested in reading Olivia’s story now because it seems to be set after Riley gives birth. I feel sorry for her even more than I felt sorry for Riley throughout the books.
Riley is a badass but also isn’t afraid to cry and shed some tears. I don’t know how I feel about her mother. I understand why she did everything she did but it really put Riley through a tough time.
I liked the boys in the end, there was never any talk about ‘mates’ so maybe mer folk don’t have mates in shifter book? I don’t know but it seems like they are drawn to her by a force stronger than themselves.
What I want to know is did they tell Aidan in the end?
Also how cute are Bubba and the other protector animals? Damn I want to Pet a shark so badly now!
I am now much more interested in mer-shifter books and will be on the look out for more.
I am obsessed. I have not read anything like this one before, but I love high school bully books, so I knew I would love it. Due to an oil spill, Riley's world has been flipped upside down. She has been in the background for so long, but now she is the target of the Tritons.
Jax, Blake and Morgan have a huge secret they have been hiding. They are on the hunt for Riley's dad and will do whatever it takes to find his location. They are so hot and cold with Riley, that they have given me whiplash a few times, especially Jax.
In Submerge, we see what happens after the cliffhanger in Surge. Riley decides that enough is enough and even though she has this magnetic pull towards them, that they must suffer at least a bit from what they did to her.
The cliffhanger in this one 👀👀 I mean that person was sus, but whoa... that was crazy!!!
Ok, so last book in the Salinity Cove trilogy... It was everything I needed! There was lots of action and kept me on the edge of my seat. There was a nice balance of plot and spice as well.
This is the final story for Riley, Jax, Blake and Morgan. All the characters have grown since book one, and I absolutely LOVE all of them. This book was intense. Everything that has been happening in the last couple books (and I guess for years in their world) is coming to a head.
I loved this series! If you haven't picked it up yet, add it to your tbr. It is an aquatic based pnr, BUT there isn't a lot underwater until the last book.
The books were entertaining. Like any series, I feel the first book was the best. It was the most well written and detailed. I did enjoy the series because who doesn't like late teen/early adult para-romance, but the reason I couldn't give it more than 2 stars was because the last half of the series felt closer to lazy writing and rushed. I loved how the first book it drew me in and I truly hated the boys, especially Jax, while being just as confused as Riley. The focus of being in school, what happened to her parents, her friendships, her love of yearbook, and so much more came out--it wasn't just Riley and the boys, the reader got a wonderfully developed setting, MFC, and a slight look into the MMCs (although it did leave me wishing for more out of their eyes). As the series went on, I feel like it became so focused on trying to build the relationships of the guys and Riley that the plot, settings, and supporting characters were kind of lost.
Finn had no true character building after the first book. He was just sort of there. I appreciate there trying to be some development into Ivy, but it was not done well and after the incident, she was also forgotten and crappily written--again no point in her being mentioned at all. And don't get me started on Aiden. I feel like he was supposed to be the comic relief yet sensitive supporting character, but by the end of the series I had no idea why he was written in the first place because he all but disappeared in the last half of the book.
As for the setting, it all started in high school senior year. With all the drama written and unsure if the author knew which way she was going with the story (let's be honest, after Riley's dad washed upon the shore with his eyes and dick ripped out, the story was done and probably could have ended there especially as to how the rest of the series was written). I'm also not sure as to why she wrote as if they were in high school. As Riley showed up to school, but was so distracted I don't even know how she passed--or if she did because let's be honest the story is shorter than their senior year! It reads like it was supposed to take place over the course of her senior year, but in reality, it was like 1 month? It would have been better if it was the summer before college and that would have cut out any need to be at the high school since it added the least amount of value to the story, outside of Aiden **sorry Aiden! I truly wish the author didn't do you that dirty**
Now let's get to talking about Dylan Gale. I hated this character, he was legit there to be a villain. His back story sucked, drawing Ivy under his control sucked, and his goal to free all the Sirens was stupid when he should have tried to get the Tritons on his side to rebel against Poseidon--that would have made more sense than trying to get the magical knife that only Sirens could wield.
Oh I found a more useless character than Aiden!! Poseidon! He was legit awake and helpful over the course of what, 4 pages, and then I am supposed to believe everyone is now going to live happily ever after?! Legit I was coming to the last 30 pages of the series (keep in mind it is like 600 pages altogether) and there was no final battle scene yet! I think this is what pissed me off the most. In most books I read, the final "fight" and resolution takes place over the couse of the last 100 pages. Nope, not in this series! I was for sure thinking there would have been a 4th book with how I was coming to the end and not reading the conclusion. I think it was 15-20 pages from the end that the final battle scene happened. Also, did you want any closure outside of the relationship of Riley/the boys and Dylan being killed? No, well you're in luck! We have no idea what happens to any of Riley's friends, the Sirens that were trapped, the dance competition Morgan and Riley signed up for, Riley's mom, Finn, high school in general (including yearbook and swim which were super important in the first book), or if Riley decides to go to college--but that would require her to have submitted an application and I don't think she did that because after the first book of looking at pamphlets it was never brought up again!! She did mention college like 2 more times but it was more of an afterthought because let's be real, I doubted she graduated high school.
I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting to mention, but like the author, I will end it with no true resolution and just ignore the main setting and side character building because it doesn't fit my story anymore.

I am new to shifter romances which I originally thought were all going to be about wolves so this was a pleasant surprise.
I loved the whole underwater world thing and the characters.
Riley is a great protagonist and her transformation from studious girl who keeps herself out of trouble to a siren fighting a war against a demigod was gripping.
The guys - Jax, Morgan and Blake were swoon worthy even if they did start the book being assholes.
I loved Riley’s friends, Ivy and Aidan who stood by her through everything. Even when Aidan was being blackmailed, his loyalty to Riley never faltered.
My only issue with these books is that, when things happened, it seemed to be forgotten about quite quickly. For example, when Pacific City was attacked and Jax’s sister was kidnapped, they all returned home then went off for a weekend together as though nothing had happened. Surely, it would have been all hands on deck and the guys would have been recalled to the city and Jax would have been doing everything to locate his sister? This happened a few times throughout the book which was mildly frustrating.
However, this didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the book and would recommend it.

This one had me hooked by the premise alone, and I’ll give it a solid 4 stars for originality and atmosphere. The whole mystery surrounding the oil rig disaster and the tension with Jax, Morgan, and Blake creates this constant undercurrent of danger that keeps the pages turning. And the siren/triton shifters? Genuinely refreshing. It’s not every day you stumble into a paranormal world that feels this different, and I loved the eerie, ocean-soaked vibe they brought with them.
That said, I did struggle to fully connect with the characters. They’re high school age and very much act like it, which made some of the drama and decisions feel a bit exhausting rather than immersive. At times, I wanted to shake them and say, “please, just communicate like semi-rational humans for five minutes.” If you’re someone who enjoys that heightened, emotional chaos, it might hit better for you.
Still, the twists, the secrets, and that slow unraveling of the main character’s identity kept me invested. It’s a story that swims in murky waters, and even when it gets a little choppy, there’s something compelling lurking beneath the surface.
Dipping my toes into uncharted waters for Monster Lover Month, and I mean that literally. I have not read many mermaid books and this one was a fresh and genuinely good introduction. Riley, Jax, Morgan, and Blake gave me a siren and her three tritons finding their way to each other, and by the end I was fully rooting for all four of them to become one family. Jax never fully loses that superiority complex, but honestly I think that is just who he is by design. He is bred for a specific position in their world and it shows. It did not ruin the story for me, it just means you are going in knowing he is always going to be a lot. The love story underneath all of that is worth it. The spice is present but more warm than scorching, and there are only two sharing scenes total. This is a slow build of a found family more than a spice marathon. Tropes: Enemies to lovers Hidden paranormal status They fall first Pierced male member Them vs. greater evil
Ok so I fell in love with @ writing with her Arbor Falls series, where we briefly met Riley and got a glimpse into her life as a siren. I can honestly say I never thought about a siren/triton mermaid-esque shifter book before but I’m so glad I did!!
The Salinity Cove trilogy introduces us to Riley, a high school senior who’s life is shambles after her dad’s oil rig exploded, causing havoc on the local wildlife.
Enter the Triton’s, aka Jax, Morgan, and Blake. Turns out there is way more to these guys than meets the eyes, and despite Riley being rather invisible to them in school, she’s certainly on their radar now that the admiral has them on a mission for vengeance.
But things aren’t always as they seem and the build up of secrets and suspense was really good! And I was 100% invested with Riley and the guys finding their HEA! They had great chemistry and the steam was awesome!
Definitely recommend if you’re up for something a little different 😉
Not gonna lie I was filled with disgust at the characters in the beginning because of the mix of bullying n sexual attraction btwn them n Riley. I felt like she had no self respect but at the same time I knew there was also the aspect of her nature awakening. I enjoyed the small pranks she pulled once she went into her version of revenge mode since there wasn't any grovel.
Things were pretty crazy the entirety of the story. It was ok overall. Her mom was wishywashy. That totally completely random moment of racism was just so out of the blue n unnecessary to the story in any way. It was never explained what happened to all the people who went on 'leave'. Are they really on leave? Guess we'll never know. Would've been nice to have an epilogue clearing things up, knowing what is happening now with sirens and the guys n Riley.
Whoah this series was epic. I love PNR books. Riley’s starting her senior year in high school. Jax , Blake and Morgan are on the HS’s swim team and the popular guys. They blame her for her estranged fathers (which she’s never met) Oil Company that his tanks leaked oil into the ocean and start bullying her. They want him to get their revenge. Little does she know is that all three of them are Triton’s. She comes to find out that she may be part Siren. So many different characters come into play in these books. I was so enthralled I couldn’t stop reading. Lol
Maybe some spoilers! It was a good plot. I liked that the boys groveled. Everyone loves a good groveling. I wish that there would have been an epilogue maybe of their life a bit more into the future. And maybe a couple more spicy scenes of all of them together. But over all I enjoyed the book and plot to go with it. I think towards the end it got a little choppy with less details and I don’t like how her mom just popped out of no where and she just seemed to go with it.
Maya Nicole is an amazing author. This series was a page turned for sure. The fmc, Riley, really has to grow up and into herself, fast. The 3 mmc, Jax, Blake and Morgan, are forced to bully her but when they come to their senses, these guys grovel beautifully! I am a sucker for a good grovel. I liked the variety of side characters and the world building. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good supernatural, save the world book.
This was a fun, quick novel. The storyline was good, but I didn’t really like that the main characters were high school seniors. The type of story this was didn’t really feel appropriate for that age. Also, with the book keeping with this age group, a little afterword regarding what happened to this group next would have been nice.
I mean come on who doesn’t want 3 sexy fish boys sweeping you off your feet with a bit of enemies to lovers?! I read these so fast it’s embarrassing but omg was it worth it. I’m hooked on this world and can’t wait to read the next books in this world! Don’t mind me staying up all night… oops 😍😍😍
This one was definitely a great, intense, slow burning, intriguing series! While a bully romance and an PNR RH, it was definitely one I couldn’t stop myself from diving into! Every new twist and turn lead to more and more secrets revealed and more and more feelings validated! Absolutely loved!
This is sooo completely over-the-top. If you’re bored, I’d suggest it.
I always try to pretend high-school romances that I read aren’t actually high-school romances if they don’t age up during the story… this one was hard to do that since the characters were very much immature high schoolers.
I read the ebooks a while ago but this series really came to life for me on Audible, the whole three book series bought for one credit! Excellent narration, clearly defined and separate characters for all involved, and somehow the slightly disjointed pace I felt as I read it is gone with the narrators.
Really good read if you can survive the bullying in the first book!
This is 3 books in one that is on KU! This was my 100th book of the year!
I genuinely loved this. I have been on a paranormal romance kick and this was just what I like! Reverse Harem, Bully, Enemies to Lovers Romance with lots of action packed in and drama!
Rated 5⭐️’s meaning I would recommend this to anyone and truly loved it!
The first book is rough and Riley goes through Hell and back. The salt builds the more she goes through the ocean but the sweetness of the romance counters it tastefully. If you like paranormal romance with reverse harems, but that also have a great storyline, this series is for you!
Meh it was alright. The only thing I really loved was the siren/trident part. I love shifter series so this was a fun addition. Never really connected much with the characters- I wished we got to know the guys more and their personalities like her other books she writes. Riley was also hard to like and I really expected to love her after reading Arbor Falls
This was a very interesting and a unique story. I do t think I have ever read anything with mermaids before. It was quite entertaining for the entire 601 pages.
I picked it up after reading Arbor Falls which is Ivy's story. I enjoyed it so much I decided to go backwards and read this one next. I am glad I did.
If you are looking for something different this may be the book for you.
In this box set you get all 3 amazing books I’m one place with an epic cover! Riley and the guys are some of my favorite characters and these books are seriously amazing!
This is my first mermaid reverse harem and I am absolutely obsessed!!! I couldn't for the life of me put this series down so now that I am done I will finally get some house work done....or maybe start on the other book connected to this series;)
Amazing book that I could not put down. Totally different than other paranormal books that I have read. The relationships were fun between best friends and the girl friend and the guys. Looking forward to the next series and another HEA.
Good storylines and like the sarcastic comments in parts. The characters develop well and in parts of book you laugh parts you might be tearful and there are plot twists which keep you on your toes.
This is a great series! Keeps you interested through the entire read. Would love to see more books around the storyline. Will be reading Olivia’s story next. Thank you Maya Nicole!!
I couldn't stop reading till i finished. I loved it! I love reading Harlem type books. It just keeps you on your toes cause you have multiple people involved. Great series overall.
I started this series because I loved the synopsis and was excited to read about a siren and titrons and because the book covers are beautiful. However I guess I didn’t realize it was a high school story and it shows, especially at the beginning. It took a lot to get through the first 25% because the characters acted extremely immature—like high schoolers. It improves as the story progresses.

I enjoyed reading about Riley and her men. There were a few times in which I thought maybe she should just run. However, if she had, she wouldn't have found the love she did, the sirens would still be locked up, and Poseidon would still be vengeful.
This was a solid read that was entertaining with excellent narration. If you like books with why choose, sirens, and merpeople with a hefty amount of bullying, then this is a good choice for you.
