Jesse McDermitt is finally ready to retire. But life has other plans. While diving on a remote reef deep in the backcountry of the Florida Keys with his wife, son and two friends, he discovers of all things, a car.

Not just any car, but a 1928 Duesenberg Model J, the most powerful and stylish automobile of its time. The car was once owned by a Saudi prince who was attempting to develop Johnston Key in the heart of Turkey Basin before Henry Flagler even finished the rail line to Key West.

But that’s not all Jesse discovers and what he finds next will make him the target of one of his own. He’s been mentoring a young operative who then decides to go rogue and now it’s up to Jesse to find the man and, if need be, eliminate him before he can hurt anyone else.

Jesse finds all sorts of trouble, even though he's trying to hang'em up.

On a fishing trip, he finds a car underwater, a 1928 Dusenberg that's full of gems. If that's not trouble enough, a new recruit to the Network has decided to go rogue. Jesse helped to check him out, so now he feels compelled to track him down.

Very uneven.

finally a bit of the old Jesse

Jesse has finally returned to doing what he does best, ridding the world of scum. Please don’t have him chasing after Savannah like some lost puppy. She screwed him over before by leaving and robbing him of raising his daughter Florence, let her run since he’s better off without her. Jesse may be getting older but he still has the a productive life ahead.

This book by Wayne Stinnet is his very best of all in the lengthy series of Jesse McDermitt novels. I found myself reading it slowly so it wouldn't end as quick. "Fish On" brings back those characters from early stories that we've grown attached to. Rusty, Jimmie and Naomi, Chyrel, Savannah, Alberto, a mention of Carl, who was the shrimpboat captain with his wife and two kids that did a lot of the early construction on Jesses's island and for unknown reasons moved to Louisiana. Carl and Jesse built the wooden boat named "Knot L 8" which gets used in this story. Even the guy we love to hate, COL. Travis Stockbridge, gets "chewed out" by a most unexpected person. But best of all is the re-joining of Jesse and Charity Styles working as a team to take care of some really bad actors.
This is back to the past with the characters and the Content Keys setting, which I read that most of us were really longing for. But the action is current day. The ending is a tremendous surprise that opens the door for more stories. I might go back and read it again. I am sure that you will definitely enjoy this latest and greatest in the Jesse McDermitt adventures. Great job by author Wayne Stinnet.

You get what you expect in the latter series

The formula is the same... Discover a problem that needs fixing, Marshall the right group from previous adventures, plan the take down and everything goes perfectly unlike some the earlier and significant tly better stories. However, the settings are still great, the harcters as fun as ever, and you always get a great geography lesson and learn a little more about boats. I always look forward to the next read even though the characters and adventures have mellowed with age.

What a disappointing read. It started out so nicely and the plot seemed interesting but, going after a real bad-ass seemed so casual. And the fight scene….over and done? That was it? No reckoning as to why the bad guy acted the way he did? What a doof….buying a 65’ screamer when he did not even know the first this about boats….really? The ending sucked. And too many loose ends. Like, what happened to the submerged car? Who the heck is Oscar? Why did the wife leave (she knew what her husband did for a living)? Stupid.

Hard to Criticize!

I love Jesse's ongoing adventures and family dynamics as well as the introduction of new characters as well as the expanding development of existing ones (Charity). This one was long in the character development and short on action so I'm in a dilemma. The post climactic ending was, of course, shocking and intriguing going forward, so I'm looking forward to that!

Spoiler Alert

I enjoyed the story but wasn't too happy with the ending. Jesse has his own moral code and if he thinks someone deserves to be killed, he kills them. Savannah leaves because Jesse killed Paladin and didn't bring him in for trial or whatever. I sincerely hope the next book will not be about Jesse hunting for Savannah and Alberto all over the seas. We have been there and done that...

Jesse and Charity together again to make wrong…. right!

Jesse thinks of himself as retired but once again is called upon to help bring justice. Charity reappears to help.

Together in the Bahamas they seek out the perpetrators to bring justice. However, this puts him crossways with wife Savannah which does not end well.

Wayne Stinnett delivers another great read with action, intrigue displaying use of advanced technology that keeps you reading until…the end!

Soap Opera Ending?

The author now expects readers to accept the shift into cliff hangers "What happens next?" , endings as the female lead, besot by the loss of a secret lover, taken while the male protagonist was away, leaves with their son.

Mr. Stinnett, you just lost a reader. Savannah's uncharacteristic behavior suggests you have exhausted the story arc. The books were a good read. Thanks for having written them.

Not my favorite

While I’m an ardent fan of Stinnet & his characters this one doesn’t quite hit the usual 5 Star mark. I’m disgusted with spoiled Savannah’s moral superiority & lack of trust in two of the people she loves most. Playing a bleeding heart for a serial murderer while leaving loved ones without so much as a goodbye is cruel, hypocritical & irresponsible. I’m tired of her nonsense

As good as ever!

This is another wonderful read from Mr Stinnett! I have read so many of his books ( probably all) that I almost feel as if the characters are real people that I know. This one is a bit difficult for Jesse because he personally knows the bad guy. It also has a surprise ending! That’s all I’m saying.

Excellent

I like the way Wayne is able to keep the suspense up and his ability to make it look/feel like you are actually standing there in the middle of the action.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND any of the books that Wayne has written or co written they are ALL hard to put down after starting.

Awesome reading experience

Thank you! Another thrill filled page turner, again leaving me yearning for more. I was not disappointed with my two favorite characters chasing after the bad guys in their unique way. Jesse and Charity light up the pages with their history together and chemistry galore. I can't get enough of this author's writing.

I liked this book and the one before better than the 5 or so before. To me the older books in the series were better. I agree with what someone else said, let Savannah go! She’s kind of a pain in the arse and for me not very liable or relatable! I’ll be looking forward to the next book in the series.

Number 25 and still going strong

Yet another very enjoyable book from Wayne Stinnett. As always, I download on the day of publication and spend the next couple of days catching up on the adventures of Jesse and the gang. This, like it's 24 predecessors, does not disappoint.

Love Jesse but not my favorite book

I’m a huge fan of this series. With only a couple of exceptions, each book leaves me pumped up and excited for the next one. This time i was left feeling down and dissatisfied with the ending.

Jesse is at it again!

Retired but not dead, that’s how I’d sun up Jesse’s latest adventure. Lots of things to think about from this one - life, love, lust, family, justice all appear.

Back to the basics

I liked this story! Mr. Stinnett has gone back to his earlier tales and style. You know, the basic stuff we all fell in love with. No new planes or boats to go into all the little details for. Yep! I liked this one!

It is hard times for Jesse McDermitt

Growing old is hard but for Jesse it is going to be even harder! He is used to being so active and slowing down is not something he is comfortable with.

ugh! great read, but a hard landing!

I don’t get it…the wife knows what the hubby is up to…and she cannot deal? And she takes the boy away from a sick pup. She needs to get a grip! Or Wayne, push her overboard!
