I didn't realize this book was part of a series before I read it, therefore, I had a little difficult time trying to figure out the history of the characters as you are kinda thrown in without much of a backstory. Once I got myself situated and figured out the who's who, I actually started to enjoy the book.
The main character Vicki is witty, bold, and very blunt which can sometimes get her into trouble. This time around Vicki's nemesis is accused of murder and because of extenuating circumstances, Vicki is forced to work as part of her legal team. Can Vicki put aside her differences with Lorraine long enough to find the real murderer? Personally, there were times I would have thrown Lorraine to the wolves, but with wit, style, and flair Vicki turns the other cheek to solve the mystery.
The book itself is a mixture of chick-lit, humor, and mystery, which means there is something for just about everyone to enjoy. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

And another one down. And another one down. And another one bites the dust!! D.A. Bale has set the bar a little higher this time. Vicki and Lorraine’s long-standing feud continues. Vicki’s screwups in the investigation leads to several unexpected revelations and a surprise ending.

I like bartender Vicki better. PI Vicki isn’t as much fun. Would like to at least see her in Saturday bartender mode once in a while.

What do you want when you read a book? You want it to keep your attention -- check. Make you laugh -- double check. Have interesting characters and plots. Have a little Romance. Shed a tear or two. And keep the successful heroine and her exploits going story after story. You find all of that in the bartender Babe Chronicles. D A Bale is a master. I love these books and hope more are forthcoming.
