1991. The end of the Soviet era. In a clandestine underground military facility something was created. The Omega Breed. Genetically engineered weaponized creatures so terrifyingly deadly, they were only ever intended to be deployed as a last resort in the event of a global conflict, designed with one purpose, and one purpose only, to utterly destroy the enemy.
They escaped. They hid. They thrived. They waited.
Three decades later, the horrifying secret of their creation is accidentally rediscovered. A Russian Federation undercover black ops team is dispatched to America. Their desperate mission: destroy the hybrids at any cost and kill anyone who has learned of their existence.
Now Kimberly Eastman and Franklin Barr must now face their greatest foes yet. Monsters constructed to be the ultimate apex predators, and a team of ruthless soldiers who will stop at nothing to preserve Russia’s most closely guarded secret. In this ultimate battle, death will be the rule. Survival will be the exception.
Read first book, skipped second, and here I am again. Golly, Ian knows how to carry on and on with non-stop action. Its great that he also kept the creature feature moving along well with side stories away from the main plot and characters. The characters were all well done with the return of two previous protagonists. I enjoyed the beasties as well. Creative and scary. Good gore throughout. Never know if this series will continue. Let's hope so! Great book. Highly recommended.
As "Cryptid" stories go this was unique. Trying to picture such a different species left a lot to the imagination. The plot was definitely different with an unexpected finale. This leaves me on edge waiting for the next installment as the next generation of "ant creatures" emerge.
I was happy to see this book pop up on my reading recommendations. I didn't expect a third book but now I am hoping for a fourth. It would be great to have Alexander show up again. I like him.
