Renee Slover, school Speech Therapist, has a bad habit of people pleasing. She’s wasted almost four prime childbearing years waiting for her boyfriend to admit he doesn’t want a family. That ends now. It’s time to turn over a new leaf, to demand what she wants. And drink more water. That’s important too.
Bucket list in hand, Renee steps out of her comfort zone and into a bar where she instigates her first one-night stand. One and done. Check it off the list.
Until Monday, when Renee walks into a parent meeting to discover that the man who awakened the dirtiest, most scandalous fantasies Renee never knew she possessed, is her student’s father.

The meeting between Renee and Vic at the hotel bar was both hilarious and sizzling- Renee kept verbally putting her foot in her mouth with cheesy one-liners. A sizzling night with a sexy stranger was supposed to be check off her goal of being spontaneous, but it’s the start of so much more.
Their next meeting was unexpected and oh so awkward for Renee. I was a little surprised with the dynamics of Vic being the dad of one of her students and the baby daddy of one of her acquaintances/not quite friend.
Vic was determined he was going to win over Renee and have the opportunity to take her out on a date. He was definitely set on achieving his goal, and she was equally stubborn and set on resisting his sexy charm.
I enjoyed this book, but there was a significant amount of angst that Renee kept focusing on concerning Vic’s relationship or past relationship with his son, Dante’s mother, Shauna. Finding out what happened in the past made me feel more comfortable with Vic’s past relationship with Shauna, but I wasn’t so thrilled with Renee’s wishy washy involvement with her own ex-boyfriend, Mason.
I definitely enjoyed the book. I adored her parents and Vic’s son Dante. Renee’s friends/coworkers were great secondary characters. I grew to love Vic and Renee, but it took awhile.
This book is good and bad in different ways. I am not a huge fan of third person writing, and this book kind of highlights why. It feels like there’s a lot of time missing and sometimes it’s hard to tell what is going on. Maybe that’s just me though. The smutty scenes were weird to me because it seemed like there was description but like just barely? Like at one point I was like oh I guess they’re having sex now? That could just be personal preference. Idk. I liked the characters and I thought they were established pretty well. It was a bit odd to me that Shauna was livid about Vic and Renee dating one second and then perfectly fine the next. I love Renee’s parents and the bond they built with Vic. Dante was the cutest. Why did Vic tell Dante who’s bra it was? Couldn’t he have just told him it was a friend’s? Seemed like that could’ve been information he kept from his child but again idk I’m just a reader lol
Just a middle of the road read. Not awful, not great.
Renee just wants to find love and have a family. The man she thought she could spend the rest of her life with, wasn't that man. Just when she was going to move in with him, she found out that he was not ready to marry and have a family. Everything had to be his way. He still wants her back, but she knows that would be a wrong move. Then along comes Vic. She thinks it is going to be just one night with Vic and they would go back to their lives. When she walks into a meeting regarding one of her students, she knows that he will not let her go now. She isn't sure she wants him to let her go. They have so much to work out so they can be together, and it isn't going to be easy.
A fun a sexy read that had me rooting for the lead couple! While I enjoyed Renée and Vic’s story, I almost found myself more enjoying the world around them—the school, the barn, the hospital, etc all felt very real to me.
One thing I wish we had seen more of was Mason. He’s a slimeball but, like Renée, I wanted closure. I wish more of his scenes had been “on-screen” instead of summarized for the reader later.
Looking forward to reading future books in the series!

I loved the characters and the premise. I loved Renee and Vic and their chemistry was absolutely amazing. The writing was also superb and I could not put this down. I read it within the span of a plane ride.
I did not like how indecisive Renee was about her ex. I couldn’t understand the excuses she kept making for him.
I would recommend picking this book up. I plan to with Sarah McGregor’s other books!
