Good, but slightly out of character, especially Ianto, I think it’s set early after Gwen joined, but before Cyberwoman. The banter was great though. Love these two together.

In some ways, the premise of this story is unremarkable: something nasty has come through the Rift and threatens a Welsh village. Where it puts a twist on that concept is that Tosh and Ianto spend most of the story trapped inside the Torchwood SUV, able to leave only for brief moments, and without the weapons or specialised equipment required to deal with the threat. This makes for a tense claustrophobic story as they try to figure out how the SUV might be able to protect them from the menace.

In addition to that, there is also some strong interplay between the characters (this is almost entirely a two-hander) in a story set during the first season of the TV show. Each plays to their strengths as they try to solve the problem while cut off from The Hub, but they are also learning about each other making this more of a character piece than sci-fi horror. In fact, the story itself is relatively straightforward and if you're not interested in characters bonding, then this probably won't work for you... but David-Lloyd and Mori are a delight, making this well worth a listen for them alone.

The Torchwood Monthly Range is one of my favourites from Big Finish, so it’s tough coming to terms with the fact that it will be concluding soon, but fingers crossed it ends on a high!

Ianto and Toshiko, following a rift trace, come across a Welsh village shrouded in a thick green poisonous mist filled with monsters. The villagers are dead, but they aren’t. Hiding away in the SUV, they must come to terms with themselves.

Ash Darby has written a terrific script that is atmospheric, unsettling, tense but occasionally funny. The story likely starts early in Series 1, before the episode 'Cyberwoman'. Seeing Ianto and Tosh at each other's throats is unsettling and not quite their normal behaviour, but they're in an abnormal situation that gets very claustrophobic and very personal, fast.

Overall: It’s a solid audio that’s occasionally funny, but it's more unsettling than anything else. 8.5/10

Ianto and Tosh have to be my favourite Torchwood duo. This audioplay is filled with so much comedy, a sense of horror and a little bit of sadness. Basically, all the traits of Torchwood itself. I absolutely love this audioplay, but the only reason why it's four stars is because it stays in the same location and nothing really happens story wise. It's more about the characters bonding.

Tosh and Ianto are the best friendship pairing in Torchwood. I love them so much. And this was just a delight. Gareth David-Lloyd and Naoko Mori act wonderfully together.

As ever, Ianto is autistic and his meltdown in this story was very emotional for me. Poor Ianto. I love him.
