Treasure Chests: The Legacy of Extraordinary Boxes

Rate this book
Treasure Chests traces the fascinating evolution of the boxes that have held the things that people valued most throughout history. For thousands of years, chests have gone to war and to sea, journeyed with us across entire continents, and protected the possessions we hold most dear in our very own homes. From tool chests to toy chests, this book celebrates how extraordinary a box can be when it is meant to hold the things we cherish most.

This is more of a craftsman's aspirational inspiration than a project book. Though there is a bit of introductory material explaining how basic boxes are constructed, which way the grain of the wood should run, and so forth, that material is quite limited. The individual entries do not have shop drawings or instructions on how to reproduce them.

The binding on this book is not the best. Every pre-owned copy of it which I have seen has pages which have come loose from the spine. I rather dread the day when mine starts falling apart.
