Sweetest Obsession

Rate this book
My father has made mistakes. A lot of them. Marrying my mother was the biggest one—or so I thought. After their divorce is finished, and I’ve finally gotten her out of both of our lives, I get a call from him telling me he’s married yet again.

My father’s latest mistake has given me a stepmother and a stepsister. I have zero doubt that both of them are after my family fortune. So, I have to fly home to fix the mess.

But when I get there, I meet her.

Molly Reynolds. My stepsister. A girl who somehow manages to capture my soul in the space of a few moments. I know I can’t let her go, not even if her mother is up to no good, which I still suspect.

Keeping Molly by my side will require some scheming on my part, but that’s what I’m good at. I am Asher Score after all. I’m cold and calculated and always get my way in the end.

I make a deal with her of sorts, one that will keep her close. So close, in fact, that I get to know my stepsister in every way.

3 - 3.5 smut-scale stars!

“You’re mine, Molly. Do you understand?”

“I’m not so sure I do.”

“Then let me make it real fucking clear. You’ll be my wife and the mother of my children.” Her eyes widen. “You understand now.” She only nods her head, knowing I never lie.”

Asher’s father marries Molly’s mother and the two have exceptional chemistry. Short, a little suspense, and smutty, this had your possessive alpha male and naive yet sweet heroine. Pretty good for a quick read.

Loved it!

Read 2: still a great read. I love how obsessed Asher was from the first moment. The dark spot was good and Molly didn’t immediately take him back so I was happy to see him out there suffering a bit. Great read!

An insta-love feel good piece. Asher was totally a jerk at times, it’s a good thing Molly was kinda into that. I also really liked the sweet love story of their parents. I’m trying to find Emily’s book but can seem to. Maybe it’s not out yet.

Yes from me!

Lucy darling is an automatic one click, she’s never let me down when it comes to romance. Effortlessly delivering swoon Worthy alpha males who back it up with dirty talk and an obsessive attitude when they spot there forever woman.

The female leads are sweet, innocent and just so likeable and relatable.

It’s always yes from me!

Instant and ridiculous attraction that at times cringey but also freaking sweet. Asher and Molly were cute together. He was very bossy and once he decided that Molly was it for him, nothing can stop him. Molly she was just a sweet person and a ray of goodness in this fictional world.

I did get annoyed with the trust issues of Asher, but I also understand that his mother did a number on him. Glad it was resolved at the end and didn't take too long.

Sooooo overall this was fun, novellas and their absurdity really made me crazy most of the time 😂

It was not my favourite by Lucy Darling.

It was too insta lusty. She didn’t put up much resistance, she just went along with his obsession. And their family weren't even surprised that they immediately hit it off. I mean yes they are not related by blood but they are technically still step siblings!
It was just too easy.

Asher and Molly story was funny, steamy, moving, and all around awesome. These two have a few ups and downs in this book but Molly is Asher's obsession and he won't let her go. I loved Molly; while she is innocent she is really sweet and protective of her mother. Asher is a jerk because of his own mother issues but I loved how he was willing to change (only a smig) to show Molly that he truly cared about her. I can't wait for Chase and Emily's book next!

I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

4.5/5 stars
I must have been in the mood for a jerky bossy asshole hero because I liked Asher. He is on his way home from Japan, his father has remarried and he is going to make sure everything is good with his new stepmother. He’s also going to meet his new stepsister for the first time. He's worried because his mother was a real piece of work who made his father, his sister, and him miserable. She was staying because of the money, it took Asher giving her a hundred million dollars for her to sign the divorce papers and leave them all alone. This guy has some serious mommy issues. He doesn’t want his dad to suffer again if Grace, his new stepmother is a gold digger. Thankfully Grace and Molly are genuinely nice, Grace doesn’t care about Thomas’s wealth. When Asher meets Molly he is thunder struck by love at first sight, but he just doesn’t recognize it as love. He thinks there something wrong with himself. Unfortunately Molly has a terrible impression of him, she overhears him talking bad about her mom, she’s fiercely protective of her mom. Asher tries to avoid Molly but can’t stay away. He literally blackmails her into spending time with him and allowing him some sexy liberties. Molly can’t resist him either. Their encounters are sweet and hot, first time is sexy, dual virgins. He promises he won’t hurt her mom and will leave their parents in peace if she does what he says. But an investigation shows Grace has maxed out credit cards and is withdrawing large sums of money. Needing to keep Molly in his life he tells Grace he will pay her millions if she stays with his father, he won’t say anything to Thomas about the maxed out credit cards or cash taken. Grace doesn’t know what he’s talking about and Molly overhears again and this time tells him to stay away from them both. He leaves for Japan but keeps digging into the stolen money. Molly is heartbroken. Asher finds out it was his mother that stole the money pretending to be Grace. He apologizes to Grace who forgives him. He does some fast talking to convince Molly he made a mistake and that he’s sorry, and he loves her. She forgives him and tells him she’s pregnant. Epilogue with them married and expecting again.

LOVED IT!!!!
Super Safe
Sweet
No cheating
Double V card for the win!!
OM drama (very slight, with a high school playboy trying to get Molly's attention)
OW drama (not really, just a socialite gold digger trying to get Asher's attention but he shuts that down by telling her that he is taken and never and will never have any interest her (the OW).
HEA
Asher falls in love with his new step sister as soon as he meets her. He has many preconceived notions on Molly and her mother Grace being gold diggers. Asher's mother did a number on him and his dad and he has trust issues with wome, but Molly changes his outlook and realized that he was being a judgmental jerk. There are some moments of miscommunication and some decisions that put Asher in the dog house, the main one accusing Grace of spending millions when she hasn't and Molly went to defend her mother. Of course it was Asher's mother that spent it in Grace's name to spite the family and Asher realized his mistake ready to grovel. Grace was understanding and forgave Asher, but it took Molly longer to forgive. It's a Lucy Darling book, the angst is not too much that your heart aches, but enough to progress the story!
The step sister Emily and his brother's best friend Chase have a love story I cannot wait to read!

Assumptions may lead to trouble.

I kind of loved this over the top instalove story. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. West got what he deserved. Heidi was lame and deserved some comeuppance. It would have been nice to see what happened to her. Emily was a good sister to both Molly and Asher. She was supportive but also willing to push them. Chase was a good friend to Asher. He liked to tease Asher about what he wanted but he had the same want just for someone else. Asher was sure that his father’s new wife and her daughter were up to no good and he was determined to keep his father from getting hurt. After “meeting” his new stepsister, he has more questions than answers. Molly felt out of place living with her mom in her new stepdad’s house. Asher and his accusations only added to her feeling that she didn’t belong. Asher makes a real effort to get time alone with Molly. There was some drama and angst. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

Asher is pissed when he finds out his father had a world-wind marriage and moved Grace and her daughter into their home. Asher had spent years trying to get his gold-digger mom out of their lives and he finally succeeded so he not about to let it happen again. He flies home to expose Grace as a gold-digger. He lays eyes on his new stepsister and is immediately obsessed. I honestly had a lot of trouble with this author's writing style and almost DNF in the first chapter. I decided to continue since it wasn't a long book and Asher was hot. Their scenes together were steamy. First read by this author but not sure I'll read Emily's story.

Molly & Asher

Molly is adjusting to living a lavish lifestyle thanks to her mom marrying Tomas. Asher is Tomas’ son and is jaded from the number his mom did on their family. So of course he is going to think that Molly’s mom is a gold digger. Asher is home for his fathers birthday and finally meets Molly. His life is forever changed with one glance.

I loved when Asher showed his softer side to Molly yet was still bossy in the bedroom. Their journey was bumpy but I. The end Asher finally learned that family isn’t just blood. It’s who you make it to be.

I quite enjoyed this! A new family made, while one still stands on the side lines being all judgy until he literally gets the sense knocked into him lol. I loved seeing Asher trying to stick to his guns, and make his new family go away, but the more time he spent with Molly, the more he realized he might be wrong. And maybe this new family is worth keeping after all. I can’t wait for the next book!

Hate the trope liked the characters

Personally, the step-sibling trope is yuck, doubly so when the girl is still in high school. This one is marginally redeemed by them not growing up together. And thank heavens there is only a 5 year age gap because the trope of grown men in their 30s and 40s insta-loving children still in high school is starting to get gross in this genre. This whole story is redeemed a LOT by pretty much every character in the book. Quick read with great characters I cared about. Dude needed to grovel a bit more but he does make things right so brownie points there. Looking forward to the sister’s book.

This was fast and really fun to read.

I can't say it was something freaking amazing but it got me entertained and I ended up enjoying both characters individually and as a couple.

I'm curious to read more from this author now.

Molly and Asher are step-siblings. He didn’t want to like her or her mom. But then he sees how happy his father is with Molly’s mom and he wants to make sure she stays with him. Too bad Molly overheard this and thought Asher was using her to get to her mom.
Can he overcome this?
Because Moly belongs to him.
He loves her and he knows she’s the one.

I thought this was a sweet read about insta-love.

Smutty and with an engaging little plot. I love it when the hero has a misconception about the heroine's innocence. What a journey he has to embark on!

Well, Asher is a businessman from a wealthy family and has a ton of baggage. He thinks his dad's new wife is worse than the previous one, but when he meets his stepsister he has a firework moment and falls hard for her. How can he do this to himself? Naturally, he's struggling with all kinds of furious and erotic feelings. What does he do? He stalks, he seduces, he bosses her around, and she is shocked yet secretly tantalized.

This novella is very entertaining. Molly and Asher fall for each other while juggling naughty secret rendezvous, misunderstandings, family trauma, a sister with her own emotional upheaval, and a party gone wrong. I liked it a lot.

I really liked this book. The relationships within were great. I loved seeing a close loving mother/daughter relationship. The way Molly and her mom stood up for each other when Asher was being a jerk was lovely. And it was refreshing to see Molly and Emily get along. Not act like spoiled shrews to each other. But the best part of the book … Asher. He’s a total alphahole. But I loved it. Totally OTT as soon as he sees Molly. She’s his and that’s it. Hot, sexy, sweet - everything you could hope for. Looking forward the Emily’s HEA. She deserves a great one.

love!!

I love all of Lucy's books and always looking forward to reading and re-reading them. This one definitely did not disappoint! Asher is jaded because of his mom. Doesn't trust women. In comes Molly. He can't resist her as much as he tried. Even when things are stacked against her. Definitely has become one of my top favorites

Molly and Asher were the perfect couple. Asher was so angry at women. He felt they were all user's because that's the way his own mom was to his father. But the day he meets Molly that changes everything for him. They both find the happiness they always wanted deep down. But could never admit it to themselves.
