read this first when it arrived- Analog was the first magazine I ever subscribed to. The Scholar's Cluster story always stuck with me. Pulled it out to re-read, thinking that the novella I enjoyed back then would have turned into a novel- as have so many I have liked from this magazine. Was a little saddened to see that George O Smith died the year after the story was written. Still a good novella.
