After a successful rescue mission in the empire, Eizo welcomes Helen to the family. Life at the forge is peaceful once more, though living in the Black Forest comes with its own set of dangers. The family encounters another aggressive bear, and once they dispatch it, they find and adopt an orphaned wolf pup. With yet another mouth to feed, Eizo knows he must continue to test the limits of his cheats. His next challenge? Working with a rare, stubborn metal called appoitakara. Using this metal, Eizo forges Helen a new pair of swords and then decides to design a katana for himself! These powerful weapons come in handy when Samya tells Eizo about a type of ore located in the dangerous heart of the forest. When the family ventures out to search for it, they meet a young woman who is a mercenary and stumble upon the ultimate wild beast—a dragon! New faces, new monsters, and new metals are on the horizon for Forge Eizo, but is there any quiet life to be found?
The slice-of-life story about the quiet blacksmith's life and his companions continues, this time focusing a bit on a trip to the capital and into the forest searching for new resources for their forge. Much like previous volumes, if you like slice-of-life in a fantasy world with a bit of action, but mostly just interaction and crafting, then this is a fine addition to the series. The characters and world are relatively simple, and not much really happens, but that by now that should not come as a surprise. All in all, a good read.
Being a blacksmith is hard work. There's the assortment of weapons that must be made every week. Then, there's the custom weapons, and of course, caring for the ever get expanding group of women working at his forge. Others call them his wives, but he calls them his family. This time, they journey to the capital for fun and trinkets. Then, they venture into parts of the Black Forest they haven't traveled. Sorry. I really want to tell you about that, but it's so much more fun to read it yourself.
Same casual slice of life fun as the other books. No real over arching plot or story. Just slice of life Of a blacksmith who seems to beautiful women. It seems it's only major golden life is to make sure his Family as he calls the people around him are happy And he works to improve his skill.
I found the book a little boring. He goes into so much detail about blacksmithing that every time he started talking about it I skipped ahead. Also something has to be done about the relationship between him and the women. And I’m not talking about harem sex. But some kind of solution has to come out
My Quiet Blacksmith Life strolls happily along pausing to help out fighting off an invasion here, battling a giant Black bear there, and generally chillin. No hanky panky, just a "Common man alive of life" story. Give it a try!
Another restful entry into the series. Eizo and the family take some rest time and work with new materials. And at last, the long awaited family dog makes her entrance!
Mehhhhh, I'm down with this series. There's is no clear heading or goal whatsoever. 5 books in, and it's just a great time suck. ONE good thing it doesn't have harem sex in it, although it's a harem styled isekai series.
I have enjoyed all 7 volumes that I have read so far. The translation by Linda Lui is quite smooth and flowing. I am looking forward to light novel volume 9, volume 6 audiobook, & the manga when it comes out. I think this story is only available in electronic format.
I highly recommend the audiobook version by Podium Audio and well performed by Greg Chun. The first 6 volumes have been produced by the date of this review. Volume 6 was released on March 26, 2024. ***** I would give the audiobook series 5 stars if there was a way to review it separately.
