If you could get a chance to meet a past version of yourself, what would you say to him/her? Things I Never Said To Myself is a self-love poetry collection by Duduzile Noeleen Ngwenya. The purpose of this book is to share gentle reminders of love and healing, to identify the self-sabotage habits we’ve subconsciously adopted, and to cultivate self-esteem. The author believes that to build healthy relationships with our future selves, we ought to heal and forgive the ones we’ve had with ourselves in the past. This way, we learn ways in which we can have meaningful relationships with ourselves and those around us.
This book is divided into three growth, love and healing reminders, notes to self and affirmations. All these are aimed at creating a space within ourselves where we feel safe and loved for who we really are. Are you ready to have that conversation with yourself? Let's start by adding this book to your cart.
My dear friend Emily gave me this book during a really hard time in my life. This is such a powerful, raw, authentic book about giving yourself grace, time, love, and forgiveness. Beautiful reminders to read every day.
This isn't the type of book I'd typically pick up myself, but since it was gifted by a dear friend, I gave it a shot. A quick 30 mins read that entailed positive affirmations and gentle reminders that you could possibly skim through everyday
this was a very nice little book of positive affirmations incorrectly labelled as poetry. i like it for what it is: a good book of positive things you might need to hear. i am a little perturbed by all the self help-esque books being falsely marketed as poetry, but it really was a nice little collection of motivating reminders
This poem collection of divided into :: sections growth, love & healing, notes to self and affirmations.
I really loved everything about this. I think way too often we are our worst critics, and I think it’s important to remember to be kind to yourself.
“I want you to know that you're not the only one in the process of learning how to have a healthy relationship with yourself. We're all trying to figure it out. You start by making an effort in the little things, like how you talk to and about yourself daily.”
I am learning to self love. This book made me cry more than I would like to admit. I screen shot many pages to remind myself of these things as I journey through the process of learning to love myself.
A Gentle Guide to Self-Reflection: Perfect for Beginners, Useful as Daily Inspiration for Others
Things I Never Said to Myself is a collection of heartfelt affirmations and reflections written by Noleen at just 23. The book is a great starting point for anyone new to self-discovery, offering simple and encouraging reminders to reflect on healing, self-compassion, and personal growth.
For readers already on their journey, the book might feel familiar, as it closely aligns with tools like affirmation apps or daily journaling prompts. Instead of reading it in one sitting, I’d recommend approaching it as a daily practice—reading a page a day to inspire thought and reflection.
If you’re at the start of your self-development phase, this book is a gentle and accessible guide. For those further along, it’s best approached as a reminder or supplementary tool rather than a deep dive. Either way, it’s a meaningful resource for moments when you need a quick affirmation or a spark of inspiration.
Beautiful reminders of the experience of life and perception towards reality . It's one of those books to come back to time and time again. I enjoyed the style of writing as well the short quotes and different sections were well written. It's important to keep learning, unlearning and relearning.
Some quotes that stood with me ;
"We all need spaces to express ourselves as genuinely as we can. To express our sadness, happiness, hopelessness, hope, dreams, aspirations, and anxieties. Such a space can be created within you. You learn how to allow yourself to be as genuine as you can with yourself, without seeing yourself as weak or faulted."
"You’re where you need to be, at the time you need to be. Don’t ever allow yourself to be under the pressure of someone else’s timeline."
Always love a good collection.. this one came in the form of self-love notes and affirmations. Everyone needs to read this book and heal parts of their heart ♥️.
Fav Quotes:- “Find a place within yourself… that meets you with Grace when you’re struggling.” “When you’re hurting, allow it for as long as it needs to. Don’t rush your healing.” “You deserve to be loved unapologetically, consistently, without asking for it… when it’s real, you will know.” Rating:- 4⭐️
Quick 30 minute read that left an impression. “This is for all the stolen years. Where society standards made you believe that there was an acceptable kind of beauty, and yours didn’t meet that criterion. When you look in the mirror or take a picture, see beauty in your uniqueness. That way, you take back the power that was once stolen from you”
I came across a TikTok video with this book being featured. Oh my goodness, the first time I read it, it hit deep in my heart. All the things it says are so true and such a good reminder that we are just simple and beautiful humans!
I recommend this book to anyone who may find themselves lost and trying to find themselves. It’s for the broken, the ones who need healing and those who need clarity. This book has actually helped me get out of bed on days where I did not want to get up.
I hope this book heals you in ways that you may need and I hope it helps you in ways that are beyond your own understanding.
Don't be fooled by the simple cover. I highlighted so many passages in this book that I started writing quotes on sticky notes as reminders and writing in my planner as affirmations. Beautifully written. Spoken straight to the readers' heart providing a boost of self-love, self-esteem and healing. ~LiteraryMarie
