How Not to Resurrect the Dead

Rate this book
Bind blood, bind magic, bind souls…

I know what you’re thinking… How does a Witch born into the Westerly Bloodline, one of the Original Eight families no less, mess up a resurrection spell?
Well, it was fairly simple, if I’m honest. Instead of bringing Tillie back, I summoned a Demon. Specifically the Prince of Death.
It wouldn’t have been such a big deal, if I wasn’t now betrothed to the Grim Reaper himself. I hope he knows this doesn’t mean I’ll be celibate.
Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the people we love. Just like I did for Tillie. But sex with strangers will not be one of them.
Except with the resurrection of Tillie, which sounds like the title of a crappy horror film, come a lot of unforeseen issues. Not the ones you’d expect either, like teaching Tillie how to twerk.
Bigger issues. Like hunting down one of The Forsaken, before they steal my future husband’s soul. You know, the serious stuff.
And to top my craptastic week of chaos off, comes the not so sweet cherry, in the form of four persistent and obsessive men hell bent on tempting and teasing me into submission.
I just wanted to enjoy some haunted houses with my no longer dead bestie, maybe binge eat my weight in candy corn.
But here I am, once again, in the center of all the trouble.
Dragging everyone down with me.

This is a Why Choose Romance. The FMC has multiple love interests, and she gets to keep them all. Check your limits. This story is light, but my characters are always damaged in some way or another.

2.5 stars: Good elements here, I liked the resurrection spell and having a great - great aunt coming back to the world of living after 400 years was certainly interesting to follow. The danger that the Forsaken pose on the supernaturals, witches in particular, did pique my curiosity.
The FMC was not my favourite, it did feel a bit juvenile in terms of romance and dialogues throughout the story. I reckon that perhaps if it was a longer book or a duet, it would have worked better as there is not enough of backstory when it comes to the MMCs. The romance was lacking for me, it felt rushed and a tad superficial.
It was an alright quick read, perhaps I would try another book by this author and see if it works better.

Interesting story

The story was interesting, the execution of it could have been better. The romance seemed a bit rushed, and Juniper's personality was a bit all over the place. Tilly was my favorite.

Juniper is one lucky, lucky witch. Her men are amazing. This book is a quick paced, spicy journey. I enjoyed the character development of these five distinct alpha males and their dynamic with Juniper.

I was so excited to start reading this book, I've loved Kira's other works so this was a no brainer to read. This book is jam packed with action, suspense, humor, lighthearted moments, and love. The pace that this book keeps is perfect, you're drawn into this book and it holds your interest throughout.

I really liked Juniper's character, she's confident, funny and loyal, but she's still missing things in her life. She wants what most women want and wants to be seen for herself and wanted for being just her. When five delicious men come into her life, this witch's life is going to be a bit more interesting 😉.

This is a great Halloween read that's not too dark, so if you've been looking for a Halloween read that is more lighthearted. This is perfect for you!

Kira Roman has perfectly weaved together suspense, dangers and a very intriguing storyline, with everything coming together to wrap up in a wonderful ending!
I loved Juniper, it’s as if her aura was coming through the phone! I am so happy she finally gave in a realized she was deserving and capable of being loved, by each of her guys !
Grizzly shifter, demon, incubus, wolf , she sure is one lucky little witch! I loved the “hunting” aspect/ game she played with them in the end!
summoning the demon prince ended up having its perks! 😈😈

Funny and Light

This was everything I’ve been looking for and needing over the last few weeks as I’ve not found anything in the paranormal side to be light and fun and this is everything and more. I have never read anything by Kira Roman before and I’m bloody gutted it’s taken me this long as hello she’s amazing!
Only one negative from my part is to say I just wanted more.
It’s written to perfection and it’s the fun and entertaining side that has your full attention this standalone is 10/10
It’s a must read from me 😁

How not to resurrect the dead

A cute short read.

Juniper had the gift to see her deceased relative Matilda (Tillie) since she was a child, having the recurring nightmare of how Tillie passed away every night has Juniper coming up with a plan to resurrect her.

Summoning and bonding herself to a demon was a small price she accepted.

Going to the academy Juniper has a little mystery to solve before her or an innocent bystander gets hurt, while also fighting her attraction to five drool worth men.

Grab your copy today and happy reading!

This was so good! It definitely fit the Halloween spirit and I loved how multifaceted the story was. I wish there was more, I probably could’ve read 500 pages of this, more adventures and more spice! That ending was shocking to me, I’m interested to see the story continue. Kira, please start making these books longer 😩

This book was fun and good, I’m so sorry for your loss and I know your friend would be so proud of the story you wrote. Wishing you the best 🖤

I really enjoyed reading this book. As soon as I started reading it I knew that I was in for a treat and I would not be able to put it down till it was finished. It moves along at a pace that is perfect for the flow of this story and speeds up, slows down as needed. The characters are amazing and you cannot help but love them and the story grabs you keeping you reading until the end. This book is a must read, no doubt about it.

This book was so much fun!! I love Kira’s writing style. There was love, action, suspense but also great humor and light hearted moments. Some books you pick up and just click with and that was this book for me. Juniper is great, she’s funny, confident, loyal and strong. But she wants to be seen and wanted for herself, something she hasn’t had yet. Enter 5 steamy men and now she’s got her witchy hands full in the best way ever!! This story was absolutely one I would reread in a heartbeat.

I give 5 stars to books that I love and have a lot of fun reading, I’m not critical when I read so keep that in mind. Other reviewers felt the story was rushed and it was too Insta-love, but I expected that being that this is a standalone, short book. She’s with 5 guys, so of course it’s going to be rushed. But if you go into the book with that expectation then it is a really fun read. And I can’t wait to see Tillies/Cloves book!

Rushed

Plot points rushed, poor descriptions and character development non-existent. This either needed to have significantly more words, or have significantly less characters and plot points.
A typical romance book can be short because it's simple. If you're adding 5 guys, a fantasy setting requiring world building and non-romance plot, you need it to be a lot longer, or you get this book.

Such a great read for spooky season!! I loved reading about Juniper and her guys! You get shifters, demons, incubus, werewolf and more! You follow them along as they prepare for Samhain and going to the academy (they’re all older than 20) this book also brings you instructor/student!

I will always read a Kira Roman book when I see it! You won’t regret diving into her books either!

Kira Roman never ceases to astound me with her books. This book is a quick and easy standalone. It features a witch FMC and five hot AF men. There’s action, suspense, love, a good smattering of steamy and spicy moments. It also dishes out a good handful of light hearted fun and humor. After reading a bunch of dark books lately, this book helped to cleanse the palate a little bit!

If you're looking for a witty story with a lot of heart and a lot of laughs look no further.

HNTRTD is a short, spicy, spooky, and sweet, why choose standalone romance, by the amazing Kira Roman. It has everything you could ask for: It’s hilarious, has a great story, it’s SPICY, and you just love every single one of the Characters! Forever 5 stars!

This was such a cute little book! I just wish it was longer as many things felt rushed, would have potentially made a good duet or series to get to know the characters and their relationships better. Good writing with a quirky FMC! Loved it!

The story was nice. Not great but it had lots of potential. The writing was pretty bad. The world building was nonexistent. It was cute and quirky but it had no real substance. It read more like bullet points of a story.

This book felt rushed. It would have made a great duet instead of a standalone. It would have been nice to get more relationship development. It is a fast, easy and enjoyable read.
