If you can’t endure brutal honesty, skip my review. If you can’t accept anything other than your own narratives, move on. No need to read this review.
Ethical and honest journalism is dead except for brave journalists like Liz Collin, former tv anchor at WCCO. Liz, married to Bob Kroll, long time Minneapolis police officer and union representative for MInneapolis Police Department, attempted to share honest perspectives and facts from those closest to it all; the MPD men and women on the street in the George Floyd 2020 incident, the arresting officer in 2019 felony, subsequent riots and trial games and tricks led by AG Ellison - all that had gone unheard. For that, she was relieved of her WCCO job. Later, Liz and her family were put at risk with death threats, angry and violent protesting at their home.
In They’re Lying, Liz shares well-documented facts from behind the scenes that were blatant missteps and violations, ruled-by-the-mob actions and political decisions hidden from the public to create a narrative suitable to Governor Walz, Mayor Frey, Police Chief Arradondo, Judge Cahill and Attorney General Ellison. What was on the body cam footage and it’s relevance that was kept under wrap? A clue-it did not support the narrative. Why was due process not invoked for the MPD officers? Why was the narrative built off of one bystander video and not the body cam video, the autopsy, toxicology report, etc. What was found in the car? Where did his partner in crime go and why was he not charged? What was the exact technique used by the police officers? What connections does Attorney General Ellison have to several gangs in Minneapolis and why was this relevant but not disclosed?
Let’s be honest. George Floyd was a criminal. He is no longer on the street endangering others. Did anyone want him to die -a death likely from the fentanyl and meth in his system and his arrest resistance? No. Where were his friends and family when George was druggin’ and thuggin’ pistol whipping women, holding a gun to an unborn child, getting arrested for a drug felony, robbery and counterfeiting?
There is just so much wrong with how this incident and how others were handled and reported. Liz brings an even bigger story to light. This lying and deceit has become the “norm” in our America. We must let truth be heard.
