Wyoming Danger

Wolf Creek Danger

Rate this book
Leigh McCallister has come home to the Rockies to set up her new veterinary practice, but now someone from her past is threatening her and that danger is growing. Will returning be the worst—and most final—decision of her life?

Her family’s ranch, in the shadows of the Wyoming Rockies, is a part of Leigh McCallister’s blood, but not everyone in Wolf Creek welcomes her with open arms. Her mother made a lot of enemies over the years with her shrewd and manipulative business dealings. Some of the locals are already blackballing Leigh’s fledgling clinic. And now that Cole Daniels is back in town, the rumors are starting to fly.

Single dad Cole has come back to Wolf Creek with one goal--he wants to clear the name of his wrongly-convicted father. Guilty, until proven innocent. That was the McAllister family motto, wasn't it? Cole will never forget it—no matter how interested he’d once been in pretty, kind Leigh McAllister. Thanks to her father's lies, Cole's dad had been sent to prison and then died there. And Leigh had testified against him, too.

Leigh and Cole might have gone steady in high school, but there’s no love lost between them now.
But someone is growing edgy, now that they are both back in town, and the threats are growing.

Can they set aside the past and work together before someone dies?

Roxanne is a USA Today Bestselling, award-winning author of forty romantic suspense, mystery, and heart-warming, emotionally charged relationship novels in the clean & wholesome, as well as inspirational romance genres.

She got her first horse at the tender age of six and grew up riding bareback with wild abandon throughout her small Minnesota town year-round. It was like giving a child car keys!

She showed horses for many years, and later, she and her husband raised quarter horses and thoroughbreds until their kids came along.

She's living her childhood dream, living on an acreage in the country with her husband, three horses (all beloved elderly pasture ornaments, now), a golden retriever, a Mountain Cur rescue, and six fluffy barn cats. It's a much smaller menagerie than when their three kids were still at home!

Ranches, animals, and small-town life frequently find their way into her books.

I thought I knew who the villain was… I was wrong.

At first, I’ll admit—I was a little annoyed by the scenes from the villain’s point of view. They felt a bit cliché and almost too obvious, like the author was trying too hard to force suspense. But then I got to the end of the book… and realized how masterfully Roxanne Rustand had kept my attention pointed in the wrong direction.

What I thought was amateur misdirection turned out to be an intentional, skillful red herring. And it worked. She got me! The reveal caught me totally off guard in the best way, and suddenly all those earlier scenes made perfect sense.

The story itself is a fast-paced return to small-town suspense, complete with snowy danger, layered tension, and a sweet, subtle romance. There was a small continuity hiccup—the lodge is called Frost Creek in the first book and Snow Creek in this one—but that didn’t dampen my enjoyment.

Rustand’s writing in this second installment is tighter and more refined, with better pacing and a twist that genuinely surprised me. If you love Christian romantic suspense with clever misdirection and emotional payoff, this is absolutely worth your time.

Wolf Creek Danger by Roxanne Rustand
Wyoming Danger Series Book Two
Cole Daniels has returned to Wolf Creek. He never believed the murder charge put on his dad, and he’s determined to find the real killer. He bought Four Winds Ranch from Gray McAllister before he passed away. The most beautiful views around for him and his daughter to start over.
Leigh McAllister has come home. She’s ready to take over Wolf Creek Veterinary Clinic and begin her new life. So she’s surprised when she’s called out to Four Winds and finds out Cole is back in town. Her teenage crush who’d broken her heart. When someone sets out to destroy Leigh’s business, she must figure it out before they succeed.
I’d suggest reading book one, Cold Case Danger, to have the whole story of the three sisters and their mom, Claire. Looking forward to the third book, Tessa’s story.

No cliffhanger!

This is the second book in Ms. Rustard’s Wyoming Courage series. It is full of suspense, making me wonder until the end of the book who the villain really was. Leigh just returned home from Veterinary School where she graduated with top honors. She took over the retiring vet’s practice and was praying she and her family would be able to become closer. Cole has also returned to his hometown after 16 years. His goal to clear his father’s name of a guilty murder conviction 16 years ago. No more details about the story line…but Ms. Rustard keeps one interested in this well-written series. I look forward to reading all of her books!

Uncle Gray's Secret

Why was a supposedly inheritance quickly sold to a California resident, who happened to formerly live in Wolf Creek? A divorce brought father and a grade school daughter to town, living on a ranch that rescued four rundown horses. Also a new female veterinarian bought an old practice but damaging gossip and costly vandalism added to her financial strain. Her two sisters lived in town in different locations and professions and a bonding process starts with them and their difficult mother who is showing the beginnings of dementia.

Roxanne Rustand is a new-to-me author, but I'll be reading more of her work. I particularly enjoyed the openmindedness of the two main characters, Cole and Leigh. Despite an enormous reason not to get along, they work at moving past the past without all the usual misunderstandings and immaturity found in much contemporary fiction. Leigh's vet experience was a plus for any readers who like animal stories--that thread drew me in. Suspenseful, romantic but not overdone, sweet and clean. This was a pleasant read.

Clean easy read. Cozy mystery format for the most part. Sort of part 2 but very stand alone from book 1. Some character overlap but nothing that impacted the storyline. Most of the mystery and the romance wraps up in the last chapter or two. It just seemed a bit abrupt. I enjoyed the characters but didn't get tremendously involved with them. It was a decent and fast read. I will read book 3 to get closure with the series.

Is this truth not want it seemed?

She came home to start fully expecting to live out her dream of owning her own Veterinarian clinic. He came back home to clear his dad's name. Neither one knew that their lives would cross paths. This story is so full of twist and turns. Please enjoy the ride

2nd book is just as great

As the first book. This book has a lot of I think I know who is the bad guy. I was just as wrong as I could be. Her love life was null and void until she met Cole and his precious daughter Brianna, but it is anything but smooth sailing. You’ll have to read the book to find out about the ending. I am reading book 3 ASAP. Enjoy!!!!

Wolf Creek Danger

Leigh has returned and bought Dr Adam's practice the same time Cole with his daughter Brianna returned after buying her uncle's ranch. They both face a lot of trouble but end up facing it together and after 16 years they are back together again. Great story, well written, fluid.

Just as good as the first in the series

I'm a book junkie with a grin. I'm also a bit of a book snob. I expect the characters to come alive, great editing and a story grabs my attention and doesn't let go until the end. This one delivers (hence the grin). Now, on to the next..

Very good story

MS Rustand is an excellent writer. I really enjoy stories with dogs or horses, or both. She has made a well researched foray into the practice of veterinary medicine on a ranches come a!ive. Old resentments and misunderstandings, you do t want to put it down.

Wyoming Courage #2

Another courageous novel regarding solving old mysteries and Leigh beginning a new career as a large animal vet. She hoped to become the main medical Vet for many of the ranchers in the area. An interesting suspense story along with great romance thrown in.

A Very Compelling Book!!

A fast paced book with family secrets, mystery, romance and suspense. Every time I thought I had it figured out who the murderer was then Bam it would go in another direction. The ending was explosive and totally unexpected. This series has been so enjoyable and the characters seem like old friends. A great series so far!!
