Andy Remic lives in Lincoln, UK, although his heart and viking soul belong to the Scottish mountains. Married with two children, Andy has a variety of esoteric and sometimes contrasting loves, including sword fighting, climbing, mountain biking, kick-boxing, Ducati motorcycles and retro-gaming. He recently wrote the computer version of his novel Biohell for the 48K Spectrum, in which many people are still stuck. He writes in both SF and fantasy fields, and is sometimes accused of literature. Current novels include: Spiral, Quake, Warhead, War Machine, Biohell, Hardcore and the upcoming Cloneworld, Theme Planet and TOX for Solaris Books, and the Kell’s Legend trilogy, Kell’s Legend, Soul Stealers and Vampire Warlords for Angry Robot Books.
Absolute tripe. Couldn't finish it. I've never written a review on goodreads but had to write one for this garbage.
This book reads like something vomited out by a teenaged boy who knows nothing about science (nor writing). It's Fantasy not Sci-fi, as there no science behind anything, all the "tech terms" are random crap cobbled together from buzzwords and mainstream terms used randomly. There brilliant inventions like "DumbMutt" technology and way too many capitalized words. It's like the author did zero research, just making up an entire novel on the fly in one marathon session.
The characters are ridiculous, but not in an entertaining way. More a "wow was this written by a grade 7 creative writing class?" sort of way. Zombie soldiers with breasts sagging to their waits with puss dripping from the nipples sort of characters.
Pure shit. I gave up halfway through because it was just too cheesy and lame.
Definitely a book written for fun and the amusement of the reader. If you enjoy a sci-fi story with humor such as Hitchhiker's Guide or video game humor, you might enjoy this read.
Otherwise the story is simply a relaxing read that requires no complex thought. It's basically reading a script for a goofy science fiction film, but I still really enjoyed it.
At 656 pages, it is a long novel, yet I found it easy and relaxing to read. I really like Andy Remic’s writing style. He’s very good at creating…unique characters and worlds.
