A fun pop star romance :)

Libby is the daughter of a rock legend. Unfortunately her father has fallen on some hard times, which has also left the usually taken care of Libby, broke. She is offered a job being the personal assistant to Knox Rivers. A pop star with a bad reputation. This is the last job she wants, but beggars can't be choosers!

Knox is a Pop Star and he is just like any other celebrity out there. The tabloids portray one reality while he lives another. Of course he does party, get into trouble, and have fun with girls. Just not to the extent that the press claims. He has an on and off again ex that he just can't get away from, the last thing he needs is to fall in love. Or maybe it's exactly what he needs.

I enjoyed Libby and Knox's friendship above all else. She was focused on her job and even though there was an attraction she kept things platonic for a long time. This is definitely a slow burn IMO. Libby is smart and fun. Knox is a bit of a jerk at first, but not too bad. Plus, he starts showing his true self very slowly and it's great.

There isn't a ton of smut in this book, but there is just enough and the scenes are pretty hot. Towards the end it gets a bit emotionally angsty, but it wasn't too OTT. The angst is understandable even if I was yelling at the characters about it. Haha.

A great pop star romance with a HEA. What more can you ask for?

I've really gotten into the rock star romance stories lately. This one is a little different because instead of the whole band like is usual for these stories I've read, we just have one guy, as the title says, he is a pop star. Think Justin Bieber, only sexy, and not crazy. And this rock star, he had such a great sense of humor, and I really liked his character.

The friendship is fun, and Knox's methods or ways that he tries to convince her to give him a chance are also quite imaginative.

Good book but there were a few things that were frustrating - primarily, the way the heroine behaved towards the end. She had extreme trust issues, and being with the hero and being able to trust him were hard for her, which is understandable. Unfortunately the author dragged the heroine’s trust issues out to a degree where I was no longer on “team heroine”. She was painfully bullheaded for so long that I just can’t help but feel that she had no business being in a relationship with this hero - even after she pulled her head out of her own ass.

Meanwhile, the heroine’s roommate, who called her out on all her bullshit, was a rockstar. Loved her so much for being honest and trying her best. Too bad the heroine didn’t listen to her either. 🫠🫠

Safety was fine
-Hero was manwhore adjacent - not totally indiscriminate but it was clear he had a lot of sex - he mentioned a booty call of the month
-Hero was with an ex g/f for years and she makes a few appearances and causes some drama for the couple
-Hero is kissed by OW in front of the heroine very early on in the book, nothing else happens, no jealousy from heroine bc she didn’t like him at that time
-Hero is with no one else after above OW, he is totally celibate outside of encounters with the heroine
-Heroine seemed to be nearly virginal in comparison, only mentions of one guy who took her virginity at 16y/o (he makes an appearance and causes some drama) and one other after. Their experience levels are starkly different. Boo.. 😒
-Hero mentions always using condoms in the past, and uses them with the FMC with the exception of one whoopsie
-Most of the drama here isn’t OM/OW drama (which is mild) but rather from the FMC’s insecurities
-No scenes with OM/OW, no cheating

Don't find many rockers whose story I enjoy as much as this one. Charity Ferrell really put this one together with thought and dimension. A sweet and meaningfully built relationship turned to something really special between two flawed individuals -- even though they had the world at their fingertips. A current pop star on a roll meets the daughter of a rock-n-roller whose light had dimmed. Lots of chemistry and some very heartfelt and sweet moments between these two. I really enjoyed reading their story.

OK, so I read this book AFTER I read about his ex Stella and it was weird, lol. If I were to have read this first I would have already had a strong dislike for her, lol, but honestly I LOVED her character in her own spin off book so I guess it worked out for the best. So if you do read this book first, please don't hesitate to read Stella's book Make Me Yours because for me her book was so much better!

I FLOVED Knox, I mean, loved him:) Libby on the other hand, meh, her character was flat for me. She definitely didn't "suit" Knox for me personally. The latter half she got on my nerves SO MUCH!!!!!! Ughhhhh, I hate when I love an H and the h character is "weak" because Knox's story could have been so much better.

5 Stars for Knox and 2.5 for Libby:(

description

Sorry, I liked it, I swear. It's short and entertaining but I can't stand Libby and its fucked up "keep it casual". What a more insecure and damned frustrating girl. I feel that Knox was the only one who strove for the relationship. she doesn't deserve him.

I thought the book was amazing. I've read loads of rock star books and this one stands out in character development. I liked how sassy Libby could be. I liked that her dad had been a successful rock star and now in prison. Knox doesn't know much of her background so he's intrigued by her reluctance to his overtures despite chemistry. There were fun parts and sexy times that were reasonable to read. I love how the HEA turned out!!!! 1-28-17 2nd read

Great chemistry between the MC’s. In the beginning of the book I thought we have to deal with another player of a hero. But when I read on I was quite surprised that it turned out to be the complete opposite. I understand why the heroine was insecure, but I really hoped she would have had faith in the hero from the start. He was a good guy and really fought for their love.

Thorns and Roses is a complete stand alone and it's a rockstar romance with an opposites attract, forced proximity trope. This book is well written with likeable characters, an interesting plot that has lots of wit and it ends with a HEA. 4.5 stars.

Knox Rivers is a popular musician that is currently all over the tabloids for cheating on his on again off again girlfriend. He needs to keep out of trouble.

Rose has money troubles since her father went to jail for fraud. She needs to get a job to pay for her college tuition.

A close family friend of Rose and Knox's manager offers her the position to be Knox's PA. This will help her money wise and she will help keep Knox out of trouble.

Knox immediately starts to flirt with her but when they go on the road together for his tour she finds out that he isn't what the tabloids portray.

He breaks down her walls with a secret a day but when she leaves to return to school, can he convince her to be a Rose to his Thorn?

As a fan of rock star romances I was breathless with anticipation from the moment I read this book's premise. Though that premise is a familiar one Ms. Ferrell masterfully captivates readers through her witty banter, likable and realistic characters, and fun and flirty interactions. It's a book that put a smile on my face from the first page to the last and still has me thinking of it fondly.

Libby came from a family of money as the daughter of a rock star. Hanging out with him on tour was full of decadent experiences with groupies, orgies, and drugs that left a negative impression on her. Further tainting her views of rock stars is a heartbreaking experience that left her with issues regarding trust. She once ran amongst the rich but her father's tax evasion has put him in jail and her destitute and desperate. Out of desperation her father's friend's idea may seem like a miracle until she realizes it will put her in close quarters with pop music's hottest star, Knox Rivers. Her job at first is to clean up his bad reputation but before long she discovers a different, more appealing, side to him that slowly starts claiming her heart. Witty banter in a verbal tug-of-war soon leads to feelings she struggles to keep hidden while growing ever closer to each other. As he pushes for more she's left fighting her past and her fears of commitment in a romance that had me rooting for them every step of the way. Libby's a strong-willed woman who was coddled in her youth but who picks herself up and brushes herself off when fate changes her life irrevocably. She's sassy and gives as good as she gets which made her interactions with Knox even more fiery. When the outside world intervenes in their blissful burgeoning relationship though will she finally admit the truth her heart's been screaming for or walk away from the one man who would sacrifice everything for her?

Knox came from a childhood of nothing, barely scraping by until the day he got his first guitar. That day opened up the world to him as his music set the world on fire and brought him money and fame. It also taught him who he could trust as too many people in his circle used him for money and fame. His most recent relationship with the on again/off again, Stella, has soured him on love and honesty when it comes to women which has him using them just for sex. He's at his breaking point and he's lashing out from all the lack of genuineness in his world, which the press gleefully reports. Finding out his new assistant is a woman bent on keeping him focused and walking the straight and narrow doesn't make for a pleasant first meeting, but their time together soon has him seeing her in a whole new light. Knox gives the impression upon first meeting him that he's arrogant and superficial but beneath that guarded exterior is a man with a heart of gold. His early interactions with Libby are playful but teeming with erotic promise that draws her ever closer until the "L word" has her running. Knox is a delicious hero who doesn't advertise his many good deeds, proudly claims Libby as his in a swoon-worthy gesture, and is a worthy addition to my list of book boyfriends!

Though the premise here is familiar Ms. Ferrell used her talent to make it something special. From its crackling dialogue between two people with heart's bruised by love to erotically-charged encounters obsessed with "kittens" this was an entertaining romance from start to finish. Libby was a heroine easy to admire and relate to while Knox was a sweet and sexy hero with a talent for dirty talk who gave Libby a reason to break out of her tightly-managed control. While this romance focused mainly on them, readers got a glimpse of the chaos and energy of the music world while being introduced to a likable cast of secondary characters who reflect the loyalty these two have towards family that brings them support but also heartache. Overall this may have been my first book by Ms. Ferrell but it won't be my last as she charmed me with her fun and flirty dialogue and heartfelt romance all tied up with a cheer-inducing bow!

***** 4.5 Cranky Stars *****

Knox Rivers is a musical bad boy. He dances, sings, plays guitar and even writes his own songs pair that with a killer smile and you have one dangerous boy on your hands. Ladies swoon and throw their unmentionables at him. He lives the life.

Yet he's not all heart throb and one night stands. He gives to multiple charities and visits children's hospitals whenever he can.

Knox grew up in a life that was barely scraping by. Struggling for his next meal for him and his brother he was lucky to have a grandma that stepped in when she could. Evelyn gave Knox his first guitar and as they say the rest is history.

He's only had one serious relationship in his life and it was very on again and off again. Stella would use him to make her look good in the public eye. She was a model and very manipulative.

Libby Graves is the princess of rock. Her dad is a world famous rockstar who made some bad decisions that lead him to jail and Libby struggling for money. She sells most of her stuff and lives with her best friend in order to pay for college. She's adjusting and doing it very well. A family friend named Thomas offers her a job as Knox Rivers' assistant. She's reluctant at first because past experience has gave her epic trust issues when it comes to rock stars.

They embark on a USA tour that has lots of dressing up in disguise and Friends marathons on the tour bus. Libby becomes good for Knox's image and of course sparks fly. Due to trust issues you can see where this will go. These two will go on a rollercoaster of emotions and steamy sex.

I really enjoyed this book. Knox wasn't a typical rock star in the sense he was more in my opinion a Justin Timberlake. Libby at times annoyed me with her inability to commit. All her excuses were exhausting. Also lets talk about the constant comments about Knox and his kitty eating ( i'm trying to put this in polite terms people). It was like ok he was good at it but to mention it that often was a bit overkill.

It seemed at the end we tried to rush it and wrap it up in a pretty package and there was some spelling errors that I'm not sure were overlooked or it was a rush job. The story was good it made me happy and made me laugh. I can't wait to see what future books this lady puts out.

Pop Rocks by Charity Ferrell is the story of a pop star and a daughter of a rock star.

Knox Rivers is a famed pop star who is about to go on tour and be surrounded by lots of beautiful women. He recently broke up (again) with his long-term on-and-off girlfriend and ready to move on. He needs a new personal assistant to go on tour with him and get his act straightened back up. He has been missing interviews and other important meetings.

Libby Graves is the right one to help. She grew up on a tour bus with her father. She is used to rock stars, their attitudes, and the lifestyle. She needs this job because her father went to jail and all his assets were frozen. She has one year of college left before she can make it on her own.

Libby starts off strong, getting Knox to go to interviews and be prepared for his shows. They spend miles binging on Netflix and learning more about each other. They have an attraction that they are fighting. Then, they stop fighting in, enjoying the rest of the tour, until Libby has to go back to college.

Knox wants a relationship. Libby doesn’t. She simply doesn’t trust the rock star lifestyle. Too many women, how can one man be faithful? Knox continues to try to show her over and over that he is trustworthy and he loves her. Can she trust him?

I really enjoyed Pop Rocks. It was fast paced and I finished it even quicker than I do most books! I found myself picking this book up every chance that I got!

I actually really liked this book. I didn't want to get too excited because I thought Knox would turn out to be an asshole but man, was I wrong. He was the best thing about this book. Yeah, he's kind of mean at first... but when I say at first, I mean in the first two pages. He quickly warms up to Libby, starts opening up and turns out to be a sweetheart. Like honestly, I fell in love with him. Definitely the strongest point of this book.

No OM/OW drama. We do meet Stella, who is Knox's on and off girlfriend, but there's nothing graphic since Knox decided to end their relationship for good before the book. We see her a few times and she causes a bit of drama between her ex and Libby, but nothing serious. We also meet Adam, Libby's ex-boyfriend, but he barely appears and isn't a threat.

While I really loved Knox, I had some trouble with Libby. She was nice and not that annoying but she kept her distance and pushed Knox away in the first half of the book, then bails as soon as she sees a picture of Knox and Stella "cuddling", but actually took the picture as an excuse to flee the relationship. She didn't want to be in a relationship with a famous guy and yeah, great for her, but she did play with Knox's feelings for a bit. Not cool.

Loved Mia, she was a ray of light. Didn't really care about Thomas and Nate though. Other than that, what bothered me was the angst at the end that felt a little too much. But really, this book is fun to read and I don't regret buying it!

Ahhhh! Okay, I seriously loved this book! I'm a newbie to this author, and I'm definitely a new fan!

Libby, is a chick that knows how to handle high maintenance musicians. Born to a rockstar daddy and living that lifestyle does that to you. What I love about her though is that she's not just some typical stuck up rich girl. She doesn't want that life and she tries to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible. She's pretty down to earth, considering how she grew up.

With her dad losing everything, she's broke and ends up with a job as Knox Rivers personal assistant. Who happens to be an uber famous pop star, known for his out of control, and womanizing ways. Of course, the media may have gotten some things twisted around, and we find out that maybe he isn't so bad after all.

I loved Knox. He was not what I was expecting at all. He has a really good heart, despite some of the things the tabloids say, and he takes it all with a grain of salt, because what else can you do? Yea he's a rich & famous musician, so you kind of expect him to get a little wild and crazy. Libby pretty much waltzes in to his life and whips him in to shape, getting him to make better decisions about his professional life, and re-evaluate his personal one as well.

What I loved about this story is that it show's this blossoming relationship between Knox and Libby, and it's not just this insta-love wham bam and done story. You learn about them, their pasts and you learn of new secrets along the way. I loved the little secret game, I thought it was super cute, and I loved how persistent Knox was with Libby. He knew how to push her just enough, but not too much, that she takes off running. She is a bit skiddish when it comes to putting her heart out there, because of past events and seeing how her father and band mates were and I get that, but sometimes I wanted to yell at her like her bestie, and tell her to get her head out of her a $$.

Libby and Knox were awesome together, and so perfect for each other. She was his light to the dark he was sitting in for awhile. She grounded him a bit and he helped her grow out of her shell a bit and let loose every once in a while. They're definitely one of my favorite book couples I've read in awhile! Great storyline and their chemistry was off the charts hoottt!! The writing kept me flying through the pages and I finished this so quickly, I wasn't ready for it to end. I can't wait to read more of this author's other books. She did a great job, catching my eye with that blurb, and even better keeping my attention throughout the entire book.
P.S. Knox is mine

Libby is appointmend as the secretary of pop star, Knox Rivers. She is quite determined to not change their professional relationship into something else. But after Libby shoots a video with Knox and then a world tour together, Libby and Knox fall in love with each other. However a relationship between them is difficult owing to Knox's travelling job along with a whole lot of female attention and Libby's ever haunting past and her fears.

This novel gives a sneak peek into the life of a pop star, how the constant presence of paparazzi wherever they go create a havoc in their life. Pop stars are not allowed to live a normal life. Everyone is interested in their personal lives and magazines and tabloids earn a lot by printing stories about them that are far from the truth. How these cause a problem in their personal lives and how these people can be a total different person than that is said through these magazines is beautifully expressed through this story.

Both Knox and Libby have strong characters, with an unfortunate past, failed relationships and bad parent.

Libby shrugged away from having relationships because she feared that she might end up heartbroken again. Knox tried hard to prove that he won't break her heart. The way they finally end up together was nice to know.

I laughed through their playful sex talk and Knox's flirting. I also felt heartbreaken at moments when Libby's dilemma and fear of having her heart broken created strong hard hitting emotions. But these moments, I felt were a bit scanty. Mostly those emotionally hard hitting parts were in the latter half of the novel. I felt both Libby's and Knox's emotions were a little left out and paid a little less attention to. So that is what I didn't like about the novel.

This novel was kind of a jumble of few novels that I had read recently, and the many themes of this book were treated in those books in a much more alluring way. So eventually that made me lose interest in few parts. But that may not be the case with readers out their who have not read those books.

P.s, I would like to add that  I really liked Mia, Libby's friend's character, her funny and helping nature.

Overall I would say that the concept of the novel was nice and the love story was beautiful. I would recommend this novel to romance lovers

I loved this book so hard! This is a new author for me, and I can honestly say I am a big fan!
Libby is this strong woman, raised by her rock star dad, used to the craziness of that lifestyle, yet she shy's away from the spotlight. Her dad gets into some tax trouble, leaving them broke, and she gets a job as bad boy pop star Knox Rivers assistant.

I loved Knox! The media kind of paints him in a not so nice light, but you really find out who he is as he opens up to Libby. I also love the crap that comes out of his mouth, he likes to get a rise out of Libby and then just walks off like nothing happened. It's hilarious! Libby tends to keep men at arms length, due to a bad experience in her past, but Knox slowly gets her to open up to him. Their daily secrets game was awesome! I loved how persistent Knox was and he kept at it, thus allowing us to watch their relationship grow into something they both didn't expect. I also really like that this isn't an insta-love kind of story. Of course Libby drives me insane as she fights what they have, and her inability to trust men makes her push Knox away. Eventually she gets her head into gear, and she realizes that, maybe not all men are the same. There's still some good ones out there.

All in all, I loved the story line and how easily the story flowed. I couldn't put it down! I also have to add that I love the cover of this book and I'll definitely be reading more by this author.

Pop Rock is the first book that I have read by Charity Ferrell and I loved it!! Libby is a rock star’s daughter who is trying to get through college. When mistakes from her dads past come back to get him, she is forced to find a way to finish college on her own. A family friend offers her a job being a personal assistant to a crazy hot pop star. Probably not going to be the easiest job but it pas well and it will help her get to her goals. Knox is a pop star that loves to party and tends to get into some trouble. When he finds out his manager hired Libby, he is pretty mad about it; however after spending some time with her he realizes that it is never going to be enough, he is always going to want more from her. Will experiences from her past allow her to give him a chance or will she run before she can get hurt again?
I really loved this book; Knox is so much better than I thought he was going to be. He was funny, sweet, considerate and so sexy! Libby is a hot mess, she is so focused on her self that she can’t see the amazing guy standing in front of her, and however she is so cute and is actually really funny for such a serious person. I definitely would read other books by Charity Ferrell, she wrote a great book and all of the characters felt so real. I highly recommend Pop Rock.

SINOPSIS

This was such a vibe and a fun ride!

Thorns and Roses is about our mains Knox Rivers and Rose/Libby Graves. Rose – the daughter of a rock star – has fallen on hard times after she loses all her money. And so, she desperately needs a job, and takes on the role as Knox’s new personal assistant. Knox is a famous pop star with a bad reputation in the tabloids and press. He is known for partying hard, getting into trouble, and having women fall at his feet. Rose is tasked with cleaning up Knox’s image.

What I loved the most about this book was how we got to see Knox and Rose develop a friendship. They got to know each other through many hours of Netflix binges whilst he was on tour. I also loved seeing a different side to Knox from what the Press portrayed him as. Even with their mutual attraction, Rose keeps fighting it as she doesn’t trust his rock star lifestyle, as there are too many beautiful women who throw themselves at him constantly. But can he prove himself trustworthy and be faithful to Rose?

I haven’t read many pop/rock star romances, but I really enjoyed this one. It was fun, sexy, and I enjoyed the banter between Knox and Rose.

This is my second Charity Ferrell book (in two days, no less!) and I enjoyed it quite a lot. It's also my first ever rocker romance, and I'll say that I was pleasantly surprised!

I'll admit I almost had my doubts about this given the parallels of Justin Beiber to Knox and Selena Gomez to Stella (something I hadn't picked up on in Make Me Yours), but I quickly got over it as Knox turned out to be much sweeter, humbler and interesting than Beiber (thankfully). Whether or not Charity Ferrell drew inspiration from those two isn't really important because the book stands on its own.

The book is centered around Knox, a pop sensation with a bit of an attitude who's known for being a bit of a bad-boy. We've got arrests, paparazzi nightmares, and a rotating door of women, and he's got the reputation to match. Then we have Libby, the daughter of a rock god who is very know-how in the music industry but with her heart tightly shut. The two meet because Libby is in desperate need of cash after her father runs into trouble - and her dad's close friend Thomas hooks her up with the job of Knox's assistant. She's not excited about it, needless to say; her desperation for money to pay for her college education drives her to agree.

What I liked most about this book was the slow burn - the characters have chemistry and are obviously into each other, but Libby is so closed off and afraid of falling for Knox that their courtship is longer than most romance novels, without feeling too long or draggy. When she finally gives into him, it's extremely satisfying and rewarding for the reader.

Charity Ferrell is a new-to-me author but one I'll be keeping my eye on from now on. She's obviously got a talent for story-telling; I really didn't want this or Make Me Yours to end while I was reading them.

In short, Pop Rock is a sexy, sweet, and satisfying love story that will make you wish you had your own rock star to write love songs about you. ;)

This probably makes me spiteful, but it is what it is. It would have easily been 5 stars if not for Rose.

Knox is the sweetest, kindest, and most likely, the most honest and genuine MMC on the planet, and she treats him like that?! NO. JUST NO. There is no justification for it. I am fully aware that she's been hurt in the past, and she's insecure, but she did not have to lead him on that way! I do give her points for redeeming herself.

I have nothing but good things to say about Knox. He's amazingly talented, has a fantastic personality, and is smart and witty. Rose has some good qualities, too. I'll give her that. She's got a good heart, I only wish she could've realized the unnecessary pain she would be inflicting sooner and not have treated Knox so badly.

Had it not been for her actions, it would have been a 5 star read. It was still a fun, light read, and I'm definitely happy I invested the time to read it.
