A wanted poster was part of everyday life in the West. Some men made their living hunting men that deserved to be hunted. The front of a wanted poster was the last place Quade Prescott thought he'd ever see his face, that was until he became a hunted man being chased by men he didn't know and for reasons he couldn't figure. A man with a five-hundred-dollar bounty on his head soon found out he was a very popular man. Prescott knew he had to get to the bottom of this before someone cashed in his hide for the reward money. The false bounty wasn't the only conspiracy happening in Montana Territory. Mix in a little gold and a few politicians and things get real interesting real fast.
Yep, details matter. This story has interesting quirks but the groups of people are hard to follow. But the author has made a number of mistakes that diminish his credibility and distract the reader. For example, homophones with many mistakes; due, do; and to, two, too. Then there are some mistakes in words used incorrectly. For example, the car attached to a locomotive holding wood or coal is a tender, not a tinder. The cost of a single beer in this time period was five cents not five or ten times that. Every avid reader of historical westerns knows that so when that mistake or other money mistakes are made it jumps out to the reader as not credible and that the author has not done his homework. DETAILS MATTER.
His books usually start off slow and boring, but boy do the pace picks up after his characters have Ben fully formed. There is humor, funny and dark. The prob!em most often found with his books are the abrupt closure of the book. This to me is a big letdown with the book. A lot is left unsaid or fully explained. You truly need to have a good imagination to be able to draw conclusion as to what was left unexplained and how to connect the dots. All in all not bad read.
Author has a great plot, character development and gets to end and just "jumps off cliff" and ends the story abruptly. It's like he runs out of steam at the end...too bad really cause he's good storyteller.
Wow! Talk about a plot twist! Kept me on my toes from start to finish!
How does Nathan Wright think of these things? What an imagination! I wish you would do an Epilogue and tie some loose ends together. I am sitting here still just astounded with this story. Good job!
Long book with an odd ending. Good humor throughout and good characters. Lots of action. Constant rambling from characters and the poor ending only rated a four for me.
