I really enjoyed this debut novel
My biggest shout out today Kyan Green and the Infinity Racers is the perfect choice to get boys to read.

Kyan Green is the loft with his sister, Celestine, helping their dad fix leaks in the roof, when Kyan and his sister find a racetrack, made from metal. The metal car seems to be magical, for Ryan, with a shock of electricity throbbing through his arm. Their Grandma doesn’t believe the race car was magic, racing through the house.

Kyan’s mum and dad are trying to keep their house as when the landlord visits he gets more money from other properties, he looks at all the things wrong with their house.

Kyan takes the race cars and race track out from the box. Grandma, goes through all the rules how to play The Greatest Race of Your Lives game, with the racing cars. Kyan’s Grandma read THE INFINITE RACE INSTRUCTIONS Which are wrote quite differently, from any game normal instructions, that has 3 levels to the game.

When Kyan pushes a toy race car, as if by magic the car grew like the size of a Tonka truck and magically the track grew to a normal size race track, then he finds himself racing against other car racing drivers. Then the next minute he is transported back into his bedroom with the racing cars and the race track back to normal size.

This is an exciting fantasy story with the Grand Prix, a police car chase and a spaceship.

Kyan Green and the Infinity Racers by Colm Field, is a brilliant debut novel with fantastic black and white illustrations, by David Wilkerson, that will definitely keep boys entertained, and I can’t wait as there’s another Kyan Green adventure in the spring of 2023, that I must read!

This is the perfect book for any little petrolheads in your life - ideal for the kid who loves action-packed fantasy, F1, or - like my boys - will spend hours constructing and crashing elaborate Hot Wheels setups! Whilst in the multiverse of the 'Infinite Race' game, Kyan and his friends end up in a variety of scenarios - Grand Prix, outer space, high-speed police chase etc - meeting alternate versions of people he knows, but the 'real life' side of the book has important elements that young readers may have actually experienced, including insecure housing and parental money worries meaning they are unable to do the same as wealthier friends. Less familiar may be the concept of string theory, but this gets an explanation too - possibly the first time I've seen it in a middle-grade book! All in all lots of high-octane fun, and with multi-racial family representation too.

Kyan Green and the Infinity Racers is the first book in an exciting adventure series!

The illustrations and multimedia throughout the book are a great addition to this fun story ~ I especially like the instant messages and emoji’s.

Although this book has a little over 300 pages, I think it will be easy to read for independent readers.

Are you prepared for excitement, adventure, a story that does not spend much time on the ground, a story that ventures into the world of science fiction and a protagonist who is a little bit Jumanji meets Spiderman? Great. This is the book for you. There are so many parts to Kyan and the Infinity Racers published by Bloomsbury Children’s books, that I would struggle to sum it up in a line, luckily, I can write a little bit about it here for you! I will start with telling you the author is a builder by day and a writer in his spare time. He loves to walk so of course this debut does anything but spend time on feet… Illustrator David Wilkerson lives in America, believes in the healing power of stories, and has illustrated cartoons as well as books.

Racing across the multiverse was not what Kyan expected when he found a battered old racing car game in the loft. It claims, on the box, to be an infinite race but with only eight pieces of track how can this even be a possibility? Kyan gets it out and begins to play anyway, after all who isn’t going to be even a little bit intrigued? Imagine his surprise (of course you can read it too) when the game takes Kyan on the journey of a lifetime through universes on adventures that get more and more thrilling – be a space pilot chasing underwater aliens, a robber in a stolen police car and a stunt car driver but remember to be always aware of the dangers of being an infinity racer …
