Despite knowing Aida was his mate, Julian left her behind to live her dreams.

Now that he’s a fully matured vampire, he’s as good as dead without her. Deciding it’s time to say goodbye to his family, he returns to the States. He wasn’t expecting to run into Aida again, but now that he has, he’s not sure he can let her go a second time.

It’s been four and a half years since Julian walked out of her life.

Living in Boston and struggling to pay her bills, the last thing Aida expects is Julian’s sudden return. She worked hard to overcome the hurt his abandonment caused… at least that’s what she tells herself.

Aida isn’t sure she can completely trust Julian again, but she can’t deny her heart. However, just as they’re beginning to repair their relationship, an unexpected danger threatens to tear them apart.

Can Aida learn to trust Julian enough to face the threat together, or will their newfound love be lost forever?

Aida along with her sister Molly was held captive on a island, tortured by Savages. Once they were rescued Aida struggled with nightmares and longed for a normal life, gaining comfort from her friendship with Julian. Julian knows Aida is his mate, something he keeps from her, she wants a normal life so he steps a side, keeps his feelings to himself and lets her go.

He hungers for her but keeps away for just over 4 years, when he comes back to say goodbye to his siblings since he feels his bloodlust growing and has no wish to turn into a monster, he comes across Aida, something that ensures he cannot simply leave, this time he is determined that if she lets him in he will never walk away.

It was sweet-ish but the plot didn't really work for me, it didn't really have me sighing in delight and eagerly reading, a sign that I need to tap out of this series - as things are feeling somewhat lacklustre.

I felt myself falling into a reading slump and knew that I needed to dive back into this world to get my book funk back.

Brenda K Davies does not disappoint when she writes characters in this paranormal world. I loved Julian and Aida's story and I've craved it since Mollie and Mike's book. Julian was so different from his brothers from the beginning of the series and his quieter, introvert demeanour was still carried over from his boyish days to his maturity. It was nice to see Aida flock to the city with the twins because I always knew that Cassidy wouldn't have been able to stay put in quiet Maine and I cannot wait for Kyle's book. I mean come on, he is already hot!!!

If your looking for more steam, tension and action, then this book is right up your alley.

Finally, the male vampire is a virgin. Yay!!

This one was actually my least favorite until the end.

I understand what the Fmc went through, but it dragged on and was a bit repetitive. The relationship was kind of boring too.And I couldn't wait for it to finish. However, the ending came full circle, and it did something a little different.

I enjoyed the atmosphere, and I love the family dynamic with the youngest twins.I always have a good time reading this series. Even though I did not enjoy it, that much.

Alright now!!!

So It’s crazy to me to see all the Byrne family find their mates. And Julian is one we probably heard the least from. I would have loved to know more about Julian other than when him and Willow in book 2 were daring their little siblings Cassidy and Kyle to do stuff. And then again for brief moments in book 8. But we still got to learn about Julian in the beginning of this book too. And Julian seemed kind hearted to those he loved. But once he was olde he seemed kind hearted until he won’t.

So Julian and Aida’s story was turmoil turned happiness. Julian didn’t handle Aida wanting leave the best way in the beginning but I can understand how hard it would be especially at such a young age. Obviously Aida didn’t know why he left so it was frustrating from her end and Julian just pretty much ghosted her. So Aida had every right to be mad at Julian.

I knew in the Book 8 that the attraction we glimpsed from Julian to Aida was probably going to turn in to Aida being his mate but I never thought that Julian would be able to be away from her. That to me was the most surprising thing. But since he hadn’t reached maturity it makes since. But when Julian comes back I know it was probably the largest struggle for him to be near Aida and not be able to have her since he has known for four and half years she was his.

The thing that was the craziest was Gerald. He was so butt hurt about Julian killing his brothers that he stalked him all the way to Boston just to try and kill him. And Aida gets caught in the crossfire. I was a little worried that they would have had to start over if Julian was unable to get Aida’s memories back. But it would have made for an awesome story though. Although I’m not sure Julian would have made it that long.

By the end of things though Aida and Julian get their HEA and we get a glimpse of Cassidy’s HEA to come.

Julian swoooooon

I've read every single book from this series (and most of the others lol) so if your looking for a good (it's not the twilight vampire book) start at the beginning and work your way through. It's worth your time!

Probably partially my fault for starting a series at book 10 LOL but I really only came here for the dual virgins - it took quite a bit to get into the story and I really had to push through it, but once they were finally together it picked up quickly.

– Dual pov, third-person (no clear change of pov, just back to back by paragraph)
– Dual virgin
– 4.5 year separation (both celibate/virgins)
– Vampire H/human h
– No cheating or OW/slight OM drama
– HFN ending (epilogue is a segue into next book)

I reread all the books in this series as well as The Alliance to get to this one..
I know I have read before but for some reason there was no review posted!
Julien has always known what Aida was to him..
She seemed so unhappy at the vampire compound that when she told him of her plans to leave and go back to human life, he let her go..
She always left the pull to Julien, but when he left before her she was confused..
Four years have passed and Julien believes he is unravelling fast..
He comes back to say goodbye but he meets Aida and everything changes.
A savage from from Julien’s past is stalking him and decides to use Aida to kill him, but her love for him stops her..
Julien sets a trap for him and he is destroyed.
Everyone is happy when Aida asks Julien to change her..
His parents visit..
Her sister visit…
Hints at the next story.

This is the tenth book in a series that I have enjoyed and had been up to date with until this point. I've read all of the previous nine books. The issue though is that it has been a pretty long while since I read the last book in this series. And unfortunately, I've probably read hundreds of books in between. The good thing was that it was EXTREMELY easy to slip right back into the world that Ms. Davies has created and once things started to settle, it felt like no time had even passed by.

I also want to mention that I enjoyed the narrator - Tavia Gilbert - for this book. She did a really good job and I ended up listening to more than I read. I've liked her in many, many things that she has narrated.

I'm not really sure what I want to say about this book other than it follows a fairly standard storyline....similar to the prior books. The thing that was a bit different was that this might have been the first book that showcases a couple that occurs directly after the events on "The Island" and the death of a very important character. (at least I think it was - remember, it's been a while for me since I read the last book)

Even with a fairly repetitive storyline, I still enjoyed it. Ms. Davies has created such a wonderful world with this series and has given us many, many wonderful characters. So much so that it is hard to go wrong. The family that has been created is a one of a kind family. We (the readers) have been with them from the beginning and we are now getting to the end of the kids that are still unmated in the family.

Julian - who was the male MC in this story, is the 3rd youngest, with the babies being the twins. I say babies, but I mean babies of the family. Julian is probably around 23 or 24 in this book, but he has matured and become a fully matured vampire. I do not really remember Aida, but she was someone that he met from the island, so she was probably only in one other book.

Regardless, I enjoyed the heck out of it and was happy to get to slip back into the crazy Byrne vampire family... even if only for a little while.

I have been reading this series since I got the first book for free years ago. I did not know what to expect but found myself really liking the characters and was more than happy to follow them as they started their journey. In the beginning, there were only five of them, but as things progressed more have been added to the Byrnes tribe, not only children but spouses. Every new character fits in perfectly with the others who came before. The stories have built and given more insight into what is going on in their universe.

Julian knew Aida was his mate but in order to allow her to live her life as normally as she wanted he let her go and took off to see the world. Now four and a half years later he is a fully matured vampire and without her, he knows he's as good as dead. He has returned to the States to say goodbye to his family not really expecting to run into Aida. When he does run into her he cannot bare the thought of leaving her again and vows to make her forgive and hopefully fall in love with him. But unknown to him there is a malevolent presence lurking in the shadows.

Just want to say that this is a very good entry in a very good series.

I loved every second of this story, it had everything I love in a book, second chance, first love and each other's one and only. I loved how much Julian put Aida's happiness before himself, even though he probably shouldn't have left and then stayed away for 4 1\2 years but I understand his reasoning for doing so. I also liked how their relationship progressed, it didn't feel forced or unrealistic because they both had items they needed to get through before they got into the right place to start their relationship. This book was also a good book to go after the last two since they were both intense and while this one did have serious moments it was more on the sweet side without as many life or death moments those did. I also like how we got a chance to see more of the younger siblings in this book, since we really haven't had a chance to really get to know them in the past books, even though I do like the older siblings and would also liked seeing and catching up with them too. Overall I loved this book so much, it's one of my favorites, and I cannot wait to read Cassidy's book next.

Julian had been attracted to Molly’s sister Aida ever since she was rescued from the island and moved in with his family. But she’s human and he’s a newly matured vampire. So when she’s leaves for college in Arizona, he disappears.

Years later, realizing he’s losing control he heads to Boston to say goodbye to his family and he finds out Aida is living there with his brother and sister.

Footnote: 1) You’d think that Julian’s parents would have set up a trust fund him to use when he grew up. That’s what vampires in other stories do.

Fave scenes: Aida confiding in Cassidy about what happened before Julien left, Julien’s favorite place he visited, fighting the vampire in the ally and Aida’s photo of the old man.

4.5 Stars - Good read!

I enjoy every one of these books in this series. Aida and Julian’s story was well written and had a good storyline. I loved their history and how close they were. I loved how Julian became her friend in the beginning. Their story got more intense when they met back up 4 years after Julian let Aida go to have a normal life at school. I loved both their characters and the ending was great. I like the mystery of what’s to come with Cassidy and the stranger, Dante. Always looking forward to what comes next in this series.

On top form again.

After a couple of books where I was afraid that the impetus was waning, I'm really happy to see that this book has gained the excellence of the best of the series. I always liked Julian and I was so happy this he finally got his mate. I'm back to relishing the next book.

This was so sweet. It's interesting to watch a struggle. And really it gives you insight to the fact that when you do something, you should really watch what you do, cuz you never know when it's going to come and bite you in the ass.

Forsaken

This was mighty intriguing and exciting. This was the first time all Julian's siblings weren't involved in some drama. Aida is as tough as nails for all she went through and still kept on fighting. Julian found the perfect mate in her.
