Brenda K. Davies is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Vampire Awakening Series, Alliance Series, Road to Hell Series, Hell on Earth Series, and historical romantic fiction. She also writes under the pen name, Erica Stevens. When not out with friends and family, she can be found at home with her husband, son, dogs, cat, and horse.
This is the end of an excellent series that kept me coming back for years, I never wanted it to end, but here we are. The characters have all grown and evolved over the years, some from literal children to adulthood. The adults have gained more depth and understanding as well as wisdom as things have progressed. If I sound gushy it is because I have truly enjoyed these characters and their journey from the very beginning, they have been constant and the action as well as the romance has been top-tier.
When Melanie left her sheltered, bizarre childhood behind for college, she was determined to embrace her new life, but forgetting her past proved impossible. She tries to live a normal life but shuns anyone who gets close. Kyle has finally met his mate, even though he has not told her yet. He does not expect Melanie's past to put his family in danger. He had hoped to break through her walls, so when she makes it clear she doesn't talk about her past he does not ask. But he should have pushed because it rears its ugly head and he finds himself far away from his family and may never see them again.
This had something for everyone as far as I am concerned. You have the mystery of Melanie's background, the confusion of love or no love, the violence of family to each other, and the love and belief of family. We also get all of the Byrne family along with all the in-laws in this one place. This is how you end a series, with passion and action and loved ones around. I truly loved this and will miss getting to see them and find out where they could have continued to go. Hoping for glimpses though.
Feeling emotional that this series is now over. This was an bloody fantastic finale. Took me a day to write a review. I loved this book so much I couldn't put my iPad down until that final word, and even then, I sat there in awe. I’ve laughed and cried through them all and have followed them from the series from the start. The twists and turns have you on the edge of your seat, the childhood pranks and family love in this books are one of a kind. The world and characters that Davies has expertly and cleverly weaved are beyond words. So thank you to Ms. Brenda K. Davies you have out done your self.
This is hands down one of my favorite series! I love every book and have re-read most of them. I'm truly sad to see this series coming to an end, I've eagerly awaited the last 5 or so books and sad to know there won't be more, though I understand the reasoning with all of the characters and story line in general, this one at least was a great ending for the whole series in general.
Warning, spoilers ahead:
---- --- -- - -- --- ----
I was so excited for this book and Kyle. I'm a bit surprised it took him so long to mature but it added depth to him and the book. My only real issue with that, was when he did fully mature, he didn't go as nuts as some of his previous brothers had with note completing the bond, I mean he did a bit but I was expecting more. The twist with Melanie/Lucy was pretty unexpected and didn't give too much away too early. I liked that they both Melanie and Kyle were questioning each other for awhile and having trust issues.
The fight scenes towards the end where page turners for sure and I loved having all of the other siblings making appearances.
Cassidy is hilarious at the end and I loved the whole wedding scene. Sera/Liam, where it all started, that section was so heartwarming.
Again, so sad to see this series coming to an end, but Brenda did the characters right, HEA for sure!
Oh man, I forgot how much I enjoyed this series. I think it's been a little over a year since I dipped a toe into this series - maybe longer, I'm actually not sure. But, regardless, it didn't take much for me to be immediately transported right back into this world. With this book, it is actually quite a while into this story until we actually get to see the whole gang become involved. Even with that, I just enjoyed the heck out of it when the gang "came to the rescue" Or didn't...no spoilers, right?
As I mentioned before, this is the 12th book in this series and we have watched as one by one, all of the children become mated and fall in love. This story, while following the basic gameplan, had a few detours along the way. We are introduced to a couple of very "bad guy" characters along with the woman (Melanie) that Kyle discovers as his mate.
Since I had been away for a while, I think I enjoyed everything that much more. It made my heart hurt when bad things happened to Kyle, and it made me even more thrilled when I got to see the "family" do what they do best...and for those of us who have invested our time and emotions into this series....we know what that means.
I actually alternated between listening and reading and probably ended up listening for most of the story. There was a newer narrator - Tess Irondale - and if I'm being honest, while she wasn't awful, I have enjoyed the narration of Tavia Gilbert who has narrated most of the books in this series. I'm not positive, but I think this new narrator took over a couple of books ago. Either way, when the story is that good, you can overlook a lot of things that might otherwise bother you.
I have been away from this series so I have no idea if this was the final book in the series or if we have more to look forward to. What I do know is that if I see another book out in this series, I will not hesitate to hit the "buy" button :)
It’s a Brenda K Davies book .... what more do you need?
Legacy is the 12th book in the Vampire Awakenings series and while it could be read as a standalone it is recommended you read the series in order.
“A love story with a fangy twist.”
Let me catch my breath after reading this and find the words to describe the depth of my love for this book. This series will stay with me forever, no doubt. This is Kyle's story ....
Just when you think that Davies writing couldn't hit you with any more emotion or heart stopping action scenes, along comes another story with lows, highs, loss, love and an overwhelming sense of family.
It’s an emotional punch to the stomach but I want to read it again. It’s hauntingly beautiful and full of hope, unconditional love, and an amazing family that has your back above all. The world and characters that Davies has expertly and cleverly weaved are beyond words.
Kyle and Melanie are adorable, wondrous and incredible. With each word they shared, with each sigh and touch, with every smile they steal a piece of your heart and refuse to let it go. They will forever live with me. However, Melanie did irate me a bit.
Davies romances are my happy place - and LEGACY is a welcomed addition! Kyle’s story is one that you beg for and then you bask in the afterglow. When has Davies ever let us down?
So don’t hesitate, immerse yourself in this phenomenal world and fall in love.

I have cried, bleed and felt with this family for years now and as the series comes to an end all I can say is thank you to Ms. Brenda K. Davies because this is honestly one of the best series I've ever read. And as someone who reads about 400 books a year I think that's saying something.
Now Kyle. Oh Kyle we met way back in Book 2 In Destined and a bear trap. Kyle has a connection to one of my favortie family members Stefan (so I'm being biased) but he has this heart of gold and love for his family that I feel a little differently. He's litteraly the last single man standing. Melanie has secrets. I mean don't we all. But serious her dad is nuts lol. Kyle is taken, and they have to fight the mating pull, the doubt of omg hes a vamp, and omg did she trap me. Will the love that was bloming really over come all obsticles or are there somethings that are you know just too much. We need the alliance, the entire Byrne clan and savages to work together. Can they do it? Well ladies and gents hang on to your britches this one is a bumpy ride, but what a ride it is.
Wow, what a fabulous ending to my favorite series. I struggled with wanting to stay up and read the entire book in one sitting or reading a little at a time, savoring every chapter. It is definitely bittersweet, I will miss the Byrne family! MS. Davies really knows how to keep a reader hanging on to every word. Kyle's and Melanie's story was a thrill ride full of action from beginning to end. I loved their dynamics. I normally don't re-read books but there are a select few that I do and this entire series is going on that list, I'll be reading from the beginning again in the near future! If you've not read this book or series I highly recommend it. Characters are well developed, you will love some and love to hate some too! Locations and scenes are described so well that I can picture myself there, like I was watching a movie in my head while reading. It would make me so happy if this series could be made into a movie.
I’m a little sad this is the end of the Vampire Awakenings Series. But I know that many from the Byrne Family will make appearances in the Alliance Series. So I’m not as sad. Still definitely heart broken over Doug though. I just knew we would get to see all the stooges find their mates.😭
Kyle’s story was a little different and didn’t go the direction I thought it would as I read it. I still liked it. The series itself was getting a little repetitive though. I was kind of hoping for a change up in some of the stories. But oh well. Still one of my favorite series.
I really like Melanie’s personality. But I love Lucy’s more so I’m hoping she finds her mate in the Alliance series. Kyle, to me was still more mellow but only because he hadn’t reached maturity yet. Which was interesting for the beginnings of their relationship. I thought it was cool twist to add too.
That ending though, hilarious 😂. Cassidy is a whole fool. 😂🤣😂🤣
Kyle was gobsmacked when he found his mate.. Melanie was secretive about her past but he was determined to make her his.. But her father arrives and insists on her and her friend Lucy returning to their home.. but when he sends Savages to scare her Kyle saves her but his fathers guards took him prisoner after using electric shocks and drugs to incapacitate him. Initially, Melanie was dismayed that everything she had experienced with Kyle was a lie… but Lucy kept telling her he did not act like a monster. Weeks pass.. Melanie comes to believe that her father is the real monster. Lucy comes up with an escape plan and and they get out but Lucy is badly injured, enough that Kyle changes her…
Somehow, the guards finds them and Melanie is recaptured and held hostage.. Kyle’s family catch up with him and Lucy and together they plan an assault .. with Alliance help. Everyone returns home and Kyle changes Melanie.. Satifying conclusion to a great series.

Brenda is my Paranormal “unicorn“ author, she hasn’t written a book that I haven’t loved and this series is my all time favorite PNR series!
Legacy focuses on Kyle and Melanie, they meet at school and soon fall for each other but they come from polar opposites and neither of them are aware of that yet. The twists and turns have you on the edge of your seat.
The wrap up of this series was so beautifully done and made me smile with all the reminiscing of events that have taken place throughout and not to mention the pranks! I’ll miss this series so much they have become like family and Liam... oh boy! He will live in my heart forever. Thank you Brenda for an amazing series and an amazing journey!
The feelings are so bittersweet. I’m so gutted this series has come to a close but..... OMG what a way to close. I devoured this book then went back and read again. Yes it’s that good. Kyle has found his mate. She’s human so he’s keeping his secret for now. Melanie is enjoying the freedom of being away from her father and the lifestyle she has been brought up in. She has strong feelings for Kyle but is keeping her secrets too. These secrets jump up and reveal all at the worst time. Can they overcome the secrets and the lies to help each other. Trapped and being tortured Kyle needs out. Melanie needs out. You will have to read this to find out if they get a Happy Ever After. Love love love this Author

Legacy is the perfect name for a perfect ending, I honestly don’t know how it could have been any better!! From the beginning I kept trying to guess how Legacy was going to go and how it was going to end but nothing I came up with came close! I couldn’t stop reading unless real life was absolutely calling, I was literally on the edge of my seat with my kindle in my hand reading like a mad woman. There was so much suspense, action and passion. Ms. Davies definitely kicked it up a notch for her last book and I am completely content after reading her last book in this series. I am sad for the series to end but I’m so excited where she will take us now. Thank you Ms. Davies for your creativity and all the years of the Byrnes family!!
Kyle and Melanie are awesome in this story. What Melanie and Lucy went through was heartbreaking and thank god they had each other through it all. When she discovers he is a vampire and what he went through to get her back! Epic story for a epic ending to a wonderful series! I have followed Brenda through this entire series. Laughing and crying right along with these characters and I am sure other readers. Falling in love with each of these vampires and there mates was easy. An now that it has ended I feel like I have lost a part of this family. The legacy will live on! I have never been one to re-read a series, but this series is one of my favorites and I have done just that with these. An when I am missing them I will read them again and again.
This book is bitter sweet for me. I loved it, I freaking loved it. Still, it’s the last book in the series, so I’ll miss the entire crew.
In this installment, Kyle is the focus. He and Melanie have to overcome more than the human and vampire divide. I don’t want to spoil it for y’all, but it’s a big one. There’s a ton of action, which kept my interest. And what the couple had to go through was just wow abs yikes at the same time. There was a point in the story where I wasn’t sure they would free themselves from a sticky situation, but in the end, the author gave us the HEA we needed.
Love loved this entire series, and hoping for a spin off.
This book gives you all the feels. It’s a thrill ride. If you’re looking for a hot vampire to love here’s Kyle for you. He doesn’t let anything stop him from getting his mate including her lunatic of a father. Melanie doesn’t want anyone to know about her past for good reason, but after finding out Kyle is a vampire, will she tell him or risk losing what they have started? In this beautiful conclusion you’ll get all of your previous favorites from the series. I love everything Brenda writes and loved this just as much.. I loved this series so much and will miss these characters, but thankfully I’m a rereader.
Wow. What an ending to such a fabulous series. Brenda knocks it out of the park with Kyle and Melanie's love story. This book is full of action and romance - it kept me swiping the pages of my kindle so fast it could hardly keep up! This entire series has been such a wild ride, with lots of passion, heartbreak, and action. If you're a vampire lover, then you absolutely need to dive into this book and entire series. Brenda, as always does an amazing job with her characters, especially her strong will females. The title to this book could not be more fitting. I give it 5 amazing <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
This was a great series. I'm sad to see you then. Although we all know we're going to see more of these characters in The alliance, I'm sure, since you know some of the members of this family are part of the alliance lol. I highly doubt they're just going to kill them off. But, on the same note I honestly think they could do another spin-off. And literally call it legacies. I mean if it's good enough for Klaus why isn't it good enough for Sera and Liam lmao. I don't know about all of you, but I personally hope they do another serious based on the children and grandchildren of the children. Laugh my ass off. I suck.
This was a bitter sweet book for as I am so happy for Kyle to find his mate but also recognizing that that this is the end of this series. I also love the conflict between the couples and this was definitely a dilemma. I felt so badly Melanie knowing her history and what she endured. I have been waiting to see what type of mate and trials that Kyle would endure. I was definitely not disappointed. The book flowed so well that it was hard to put down. Also I loved the prank queen aka Cassidy's last prank at the end. It was priceless. I will miss the Byrne family but I will definitely be on the lookout for them in the Alliance series.
Wow! To think how far we’ve come since Liam and Sera. What a wonderful journey through all the lives of this family. BKD did such an amazing job writing these books. Kyle and Melanie’s story was well written and intriguing. I have to say, I didn’t enjoy the length of time they spent apart but that’s just a pet peeve of mine. The storyline was great and I completely enjoyed how the family and some of the Alliance came together to take down Melanie and Lucy’s parents. I loved seeing them all. I look forward to rereading this entire series in the future. Fantastic job BKD!!
Legacy...Is the PERFECT CONCLUDING ACT!!! For anyone who has ever lusted after a vampire you will love falling in love with Kyle. I am never disappointed when this author writes a book. She has a brilliant way of writing her characters that you can't help but to fall in love with and love them hard. It is like you are an addict waiting for the next page. This is a breathlessly romantic story of courage, growth, patience, and trust. Order dinner out for the family tonight and go curl up in a room with a glass of your favorite wine and experience this gem of a story!!!
Legacy, the definitive story of our favourite vampire family. It's Kyles moment to find love. To see his mate, his forever, but can he do it in time, or will this great and wonderful family lose one of their own to Savagery. Talk about heart-stopping in so many ways. I was literally glued to the edge of my seat. I couldn't put my iPad down until that final word, and even then, I sat there in awe. I was shocked, humbled, amazed and emotional that this series was truly over. This was an astonishing finale.
I couldn't put it down. I love the entire Byrne family and all of their mates. I have enjoyed every minute of getting to know them all in their perspective books. When they all come together for the final blowout, my heart stayed in my throat for the entire thing. I'm so happy that we got a bit of a Byrne reunion with this book. As each name was listed throughout the final chapters, I remembered each of their stories and who their mates were. This family is amazing and their love for each other knows no bounds. I can't wait to see what happens next in Davies' vampire world.
Kyle and Melanie's story was everything! I can't believe I made it to the 12th and final book in this series but I've been so invested in this series from the beginning to the end! and It was almost everything I wanted from it as we got to see more from the "FAMILY" and I just loved it.. The only thing missing was Doug.. 💔😭 With all that being said it was a great ending to this series and I'm glad I read it and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author!!!
5+!! OMG this book was everything a series finale should have! From the 1st sentence to the last you held your breathe waiting to see what happens next! I was holding my kindle so hard during a few WTH scenes that I thought I was going to crack the screen. Brenda knows how to write a soul gripping, heartwretching, please never let it end series!! I am extremely sad to see this series end but I am looking forwards to what she writes next! This was the best book I've read all year!!
