Eighteen year-old Aidan Lonsdale thought he was in store for the best years of his life when he arrived at St. Ciaran's College. But, on his first night as a freshman, his room is ransacked and his best friend vanishes. Alone, in a completely new environment, Aidan dives deep to uncover just what happened that fateful evening. His search will lead him to secrets lying beneath the college's pristine façade. Shocking, dark secrets that reach all the way to the highest levels of the St. Ciaran's administration. If Aidan fails to uncover the truth, he stands to lose far more than the chance to ever find out what happened to his friend.

Quick overview: “The St. Ciaran’s Chronicles” is intriguing and engaging. The plot has a clear premise and stakes, and the main character's struggles and development add depth to the story. The blend of mundane college life with thrilling mysteries adds an interesting layer to the plot, and the promise of clues to be uncovered will keep readers engaged.
“The St. Ciaran's Chronicles" takes place during the first semester at a Catholic liberal arts college. A lot happens to the main character, Aidan Lonsdale, in just a few months. His life turns upside down when his roommate and lifelong friend disappears on their first night at the college, and this sets off a chain of events that changes the lives of many people forever.
At the beginning of the story, Aidan struggles with the loss of his friend, insecurity issues stemming from his perfect older brother, and the typical troubles of an eighteen-year-old boy trying to navigate his first semester of college. He mistakenly believes his life will be all beer and girls. However, he is forced to mature quickly as the semester progresses. He helps the campus police solve a few cases, and soon becomes involved in a much larger mystery.
Although the world building and character development may seem slow and repetitive at times, the storyline is engaging and will keep readers hooked. With elements of theft, drug rings, and bombs, the thrills come at a rapid pace. The author layers clues over mundane freshman issues like, meal cards, dorm parties, and frantic last minute test cramming. You must keep reading to catch the next clue.
The story touches on serious topics such as, abuse of power, drug and alcohol use, trust, and consequences. There is foul language in the book, about what you could expect to hear on a college campus, just maybe not from the priest.
This book is recommended for fans of young-adult fiction, mystery, and suspense.
‘The St. Ciaran’s Chronicles’ is a young adult fiction. It is the first book of its series and begins with Aidan struggling with losing his friend. Aidan’s self-confidence is weak, and he has self-identity issues in his teenage years. It is nice to see how Aidan navigates his life and how his character grows. I also liked how the author did not shy away from discussing issues like drug abuse, alcohol and everything relevant to the teenage years.
Like every story, there are tips and turns, things you don’t anticipate happening, which keep you intrigued. There is strong language used in this book. I recommend this book to fiction readers and the for the young readers.
