A superlative poem here, conveying the constancy of the narrator's love for the audience member. In the rich illustrations it's a father talking to his daughter, but either way the message is an affirmative one – that despite our shadow and our appearance changing day by day, the world falls in to a daily and a yearly pattern, yet above all that is the eternal love of which the couplets speak. Just a couple of simple lines each page, and a wonderful evocation of a life lived in the peace of the countryside, show something that we probably can only aspire to, but still is something to warm any heart.
