very taboo indeed

This is the first book I read that’s THIS taboo. I’ve read stepfather before (not my favorite at all… especially knowing the H has been with the h’s mother), but this one has TWO stepbrothers as well…

So… a father and his two sons are with the heroine 😅😬. I knew that going in, so no points deducted for that. I’ll explain down below why I took points away…

Let me give a brief plot summary:

Cherry (18) just turned 18 when her caretaker goes back to France, leaving her alone with her step family, the family who ignored her soon after her mother was murdered when she was 5, and she’s not happy. She has a loooot of animosity towards them. Makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️. They weren’t there for her when she needed them the most.

Glen (45? 57?) was happily married to Cherry’s mom when she was taken away from him. He felt overwhelmed in grief and couldn’t adequately take care of Cherry, which was why he hired someone to take care of her. Years pass and he barely acknowledges Cherry, not because he dislikes her though. He’s wrapped up in his life and surviving. When Cherry turns 17, he starts looking at her differently.

Max (27) and Conrad (25) want Cherry. All three of them agree to be with her on top of having her work for them. Cherry might think they’ve been ignoring her, but they actually know on how many dates she’s been on (over 40), but they all needed to wait for her to become an adult. So they just bided their time… waiting…

While she dated and lived her life 😅

I liked:
—how 🔥🔥🔥 it is. It’s a novella but we actually get a MFM scene pretty quickly 😅 it was 🔥🥵. It takes a while for us to see her with the other Hs though

— they’re all about the h. No MM action (then it would be !nc€stual)

—the h isn’t a v. I was surprised, but I liked that she has experience 🤷🏻‍♀️. It made sense considering all the action she’ll have to do with three very V I R I L E men 😅

—how angsty it is. For sure a short book it sure had a lot of emotions in it

—the way they take care of Cherry, especially when the twist happens 💅

—I like that she’ll have a career and won’t be taken care of 💁🏻‍♀️

—praise and lactation k!nk

What I needed more of:
—a true connection to all the Hs. We know a lot of Glen and his motivations, but what about the brothers? One is 7 years older and the other is 9 years older. Why did they stay away so long? Maybe I missed it? When did THEY notice Cherry? I saw a stronger connection to Glen who’s decades older than the Hs that are closer in age to her 😬. Maybe I needed more scenes of her alone with each H; she’s alone with Glen many times, but maybe some alone scenes with Conrad and Max separately so I can see their connection

—no DP scene 😐. It’s an RH/why choose… I’d at least expect this 🤷🏻‍♀️

Overall, it was an okay read. It’ll definitely be a memorable taboo read

Oh, um…I don’t even know what to say

This was unbelievably OTT. Be prepared if you decide to read it. It’s extremely improbable that it was actually laughable in almost every part, but the writing was so good it kept my attention.

If you do not like taboo (step-dad/step-bros - they’re bio related) and kinky books, this is not gonna be for you. They all share the FMC together so…

Cherry’s mom is murdered when she’s five and her step-dad just completely neglects and ignores her until she’s 18, because he’s so sad and for another “mysterious” reason 🥺🙄. Like he hires a nanny and that’s really all the contact she has with another human being for almost 14 years, even though her step-dad and step-bros live in the same house as her? It was confusing but incredibly cruel, especially for a young child.

The plot was absolutely ridiculous 😅 I don’t even know what I just read. I was expecting a super steamy novella but all we got was 2 major smut scenes the entire book and then the epilogue. Like this was solely dedicated to the plot. It’s one of those times I woulda wished for smut without the story, just give me straight-up erotica 😫.

I was whole-heartedly rooting for Cherry, the FMC, to use her step-dad and step-brothers for orgasms and then take off to find some other men who would actually treat her right because those guys go beyond the definition of despicable. Why did they all of a sudden find interest in her? Makes no sense.

I did love that she didn’t take their shit lying down, she fought back and defended herself and wouldn’t let them get away with their BS. However even if there was 14 years of groveling, I don’t think that’d be enough.

**There was a comment, actually 2, thrown in near the end by the older 25 and 27 year old adult step-brothers about wanting to be with Cherry “for years” despite her only just recently turning 18. That would make her a child/minor which is disgusting and pedophilic. That’s not taboo, that’s just disgusting. Why do I keep finding this in romance/smutty books?!**

Some good news is, there’s gonna be a third book in The Wrench King Series called The Only One which is a femdom story! This novella doesn’t have any connection to it tho, despite the similarities in covers.

I was intrigued by this reverse harem situation within the….family unit. And I wanted more. Why in the helllllll did I have to read through pages & pages of weird family details and useless workplace dynamics. JUST GIVE ME THE SMUT!

It reminded me of Their Stepsister by Alexa Riley but…with less kink & more sad details

Ughhh.
Maybe it’s just my impatience while waiting for my favorite author to release her new book talking, but I’ve been really picking out duds the last few days.

This one.
Where the hell is the plot? I’m not even looking for something complex and super deep, I just want something coherent.
This is paced all weird. It started in a strange place. It’s moving too fast with zero build or explanation.
The dialogue is immature and bratty in an annoyingly childish way instead of a fun way.
There’s only single POV, so when the guys just disappear we’re left just as hurt and confused as the FMC.

The sex scenes we’ve gotten didn’t even make up for any of it because they were so fast and almost brushed over.

I just don’t get it, and I have zero connection with any of these characters so I don’t give a single fuck what happens. I’m just over here rolling my eyes and getting frustrated.

Well it's def taboo. I love taboo, but this one was kind of weird and honestly, not nearly as kinky as it should have been considering the subject/genre.

Cherry (18, stupid name) has been ignored by her step-dad and step-brothers for years. She's been raised by a live-in nanny since she was four after her mother was murdered. The men of the house have barely spoken a word to her during all of this time. Now that she's turned 18, they're ready to change that. Glenn (age unknown) was in love with Cherry's mom, Candy (again, stupid f*cking name), when she was murdered. He was so devastated that he ignored his step-daughter. He and his two sons, Max (27), and Conrad (25), run a law firm and they're ready to bring Candy into the family fold. Literally. Apparently, they've kept her at a distance because she was underage. They've apparently always wanted her? Well, Glenn claims he's only wanted her for the past year, but that's highly questionable. They've been keeping a close eye on her this entire time, allegedly. So once she starts work at their law firm, they call her into the conference room where Max and Conrad have sex with her. Then they go home and eventually Glenn has sex with her. She ends up having babies with them and there's a lactation kink.

So let's unpack this. First, if you're going for a reverse harem thing, you need to commit. I don't accept just a vag penetration and oral combo. There needs to be dual penetration front & back. That's just my opinion. If you're going for it - go all in!!!! Don't half-ass it.

There was also more about the murder story than there was about kinky sex. That should be the opposite. There's nothing about this subject or cover that would suggest you're reading it for the in-depth plot.

Finally, Cherry isn't a virgin. This was a surprise because that means she's had sex prior to 18. The guys are so observant and obsessive over her that they know the exact # of dates she's been on, but none of them have been concerned about her losing her virginity when she's younger than 18?? I don't have a problem with underage sex, but for this book and the way it played out, it didn't mesh.

I'll still read this author - but there were def things I would change.

I read this in the anthology a couple weeks back & I still think about this book.

Those Masen Men really know how to stay in your head rent freee😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

This was certainly taboo & spicy with a bit of suspense mixed in. I absolutely adored it. I could read so much more about these guys & never get bored or become disappointed.

When she turns eighteen and her nanny leaves, Cherry is left with Glenn, Conrad, and Max. She expects them to continue to ignore her, but they surprise her by being attentive. Confused by their abrupt change, Cherry is in for a surprise when her stepfather and stepbrothers share they want to be with her as a group.

I found this book through the quote I used above when my friend on Instagram posted it. To say I was intrigued is an understatement. Overall, the story was just okay. The plot was a little weird. But, honestly, I don't really care because the taboo elements and spice were great. This features a lot of tropes/content that I like (step family, breeding, praise, lactation...that was a new discovery 👀) and the spice made me melt. The last two spicy scenes were so hot 🥵

Very Intrigued

I will be honest my draw to this book was a very specific kink that is advertised to be portrayed. As a curious mind I am still left thinking I'm open to seeing more of it (although I can appreciate it not being for everyone). While being of very taboo nature I really enjoyed the dynamic of the characters! As a novella, I did feel like maybe it was missing a strong hook to the plot. Nonetheless I was there for the spice and it was a quick and fun read! I would be interested to seeing more story from these characters to expand on what this opened up!

I'm frustrated by this one because it could be really great but it's unfortunately not. The ideas are all ones that would make a favorite book for me but the execution is just not there. It has three male characters so technically falls under the reverse harem category but I can't even remember two of the three's names and I just finished it, that's how little they appear. Several points just don't make sense - I don't expect a ton of development in a novella but there is a way to write one that doesn't feel this lacking. I'm down for the steam and kinks but they are not explored enough either in the end. And also, it has more errors than is really acceptable in this length.

Mari leaves and Glen her stepfather, Conrad and Max her stepbrothers start to pay more attention to her. Can she find out the answers to her questions and can they be together? It’s veryyyy taboo & out of my comfort zone for sure, but it was a fun time! Gives similar vibes to Jessa Kane novellas!

I am a little torn on this book and I think it's because it was a novella. I felt like this could be a great book if it was lengthened a bit. I felt like I was thrown into the middle of the book with the information being slowly given to us. It does have a few spicy scenes, but it doesn't really appear until the end of the book.

WTF did I just read. I'm all about weird smutty romance, I've rated 5* for Den of Vipers and A soul to keep, but honestly, this was a waste of time!

I get that it is taboo topic but it wasn't the topic that was stupid af, it was the sudden jump with 0 plot which left my 2 brain cells utterly confused.

If I have to summarise the 200+ pages of this "book":

"My step father & brothers that I grew up since 6y old were cruel to me. Today they are cute and squishy. I wanna f*ck them. Oh yes it feel so good thinking about it I almost finished in my pants. I can't believe they want to be with me! *proceeds to drool and shake her legs of the imaginary orgasm*" 😐

If you are gonna be writing a spicy book on this type of subject, at least make it believable. Give us some plot. Give us some meaning. Anything?

I can bet my left toe that pornhub 180p videos have more spice and plot than this book.

Y’all the taboo spice in this novella is just… phew 😮‍💨. Look, I am fine with the taboo aspect of this book. And the spice is just immaculate.

Okay, the taboo aspect is very much like a Cinderella thing, but it’s her stepdad and stepbrothers. And yes it’s a why-choose/reverse harem.

Now, the taboo in this novella isn’t for everyone so it’s completely understandable if you never want to read such a novella like this.

Oh and since it’s a novella, yes it’s fast-paced as heck. And then there is this whole semi-mystery to the story, and I thought it was hilarious when it was solved. And there’s no need to spoil it cause it’s pretty easy to figure it out.

Again this book has the breeding and lactation kink. Oof lol. Also, there is no incestual system going on either.

Look, the mouths of all the men in this novella are just… no words 🫠.

It was a speedy read and it was enjoyable. I recommend it if you’re looking for something fast-paced, with a hint of mystery, and spice lol.

I gave this book an entire extra star just for the added depth of plot twist that eventually popped up around 70% lol.

The audacity in this filth, lol!!!! These types of novellas really are like short "corns," but I can't help but giggle and kick my feet at the plots. This book was unapologetically filthy in its trope. I have gotten down with books that involve the step brothers and the stepfather, but to have bio daddy and his boys playing in the same box.... WILD! lol. Especially how this one played out and the elements added in.

This book didn't hesitate to get right into it, and the scene we are laying out as we go is crazy!!! lol! No one really seems to have any real remorse for what they want as relationship dynamics shift upon Cherry's 18th birthday. The emotions involved, the parental issues, the loneliness, and the need to be loved, it all set up the perfect storm for a deliciously dirty plotline that had me kicking my legs in its approach. These men are not ashamed of their desires or what they have planned for the switch up in how this family will be treating each other. Pure filth, lol! The spice in this is so unapologetic and only in a romance novella could the balance be found in such an idea, but let me tell you, my eyes were bugging while reading this. I also found reinforcement in the fact that mommy and lactation play gives me the ick. I can't help it. That seems to be my one nose scrunching area, lol.

Dirty and audacious this plotline, but I did appreciate the unexpected family drama added and the high stress situation that developed. I wasn't expecting any of that, and it gave this story an entertaining kick mixed in with the spice. This book definitely fed into my nostalgic love of Jerry Springer type tropes, lol!
