What Every Christian Should Know: 10 Core Beliefs for Standing Strong in a Shifting World

Rate this book
We live in a time when believing in anything or nothing is considered equally "truthful." Many people don't identify with a specific religion, preferring to think of themselves as "spiritual" to avoid seeming intolerant of other beliefs. This has led to some squishy ideas about right and wrong, as well as false teachings infiltrating our churches.

More than ever, we must stand firm on the clear teaching of God's Word. In What Every Christian Should Know, Dr. Robert Jeffress equips you to understand ten core doctrines of Christianity so you can be confident that your faith is built on solid ground and stand strong against false teaching. Each chapter illuminates a core belief of the Christian faith, such as God's Word, the Trinity, angels and demons, sin, salvation, future things, and more.

Nothing is more hopeful and beneficial in our trying times than good theology. With vivid illustrations, clear explanations, and practical applications for believers today, this book will help you ground your faith in capital T truth.

This book was well written but nonfiction is not my jam, so I found it long. I did really enjoy the conclusion section, where we went back to each of the 10 beliefs and how to put them into practice in your life. Lots of food for thought in this book.

I agree with 60% of what was said but the areas I disagree with make bad assumptions of what all Christians believe and are the result of taking biblical verses out of context to fit conclusions and a dispensationalist theological view. And many points in the book are damaged by the author’s public political behavior and smacks of a “do as I say not as I do” mentality.

This is one of best books I have read in a while, and I believe all Christians would benefit greatly by reading it. The lessons contained in this book are truly helpful to give you guidance in your Christian walk. I also believe it would be beneficial for anyone to read. It may open the eyes of those not yet believers, but it will definitely boost the faith of those who follow Christ now. I enjoy listening to Robert Jeffress teaching & reading devotionals; therefore, this book is just an extension of that. He explains things in an easy-to-understand way, and this book would make an excellent Bible study for small groups. I highly recommend it.

A Must-Read Christian Book

This was a truly special book.

Filled with excellent theology and uplifting words, the author did an amazing job at analyzing the love Jesus has for the world. He also clearly identified what God has in mind for all of us.

I would reread this book.

Some really good points on salvation as well.

A must-read for Christians. Especially those new to the faith.

This is absolutely essential for all Christians to read. It will build your core beliefs in easy to understand language. The core beliefs are all strictly Bible based. Pastor Jeffress has the gift of speaking which makes us laugh, think, get closer to God in our relationships, and apply what we learn in our daily walk with Christ. Well done!

. When you feel a little shaky as to your own core beliefs about God - your theology - you will find solid answers in this book. Read it alone, study it with friends, or read it aloud at family devotions. Just make sure you have a copy handy, because the information will excite you, strengthen you, and prepare you to “always be ready to make a defense…for the hope that is in you. (1Peters 3:15)”

A definite must read !

Every Christian needs to know and apply these basic truths and be ready to explain the hope we have within us. If you struggle in certain areas of your faith, receive power to overcome with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The section on Future Things is very informative and fuels us for patient endurance with solid truth of Gods sovereignty.
