Summer Swap 2: Scarlet and Sullivan

Rate this book
Okay, so it’s Sully saw Byron coming out of Carla’s bedroom and Cody coming out of Cheyenne’s bedroom. Scarlet and Sully’s friends were tempted into a secret night of partner swapping while the whole gang are on a much-needed yacht vacation in the Caribbean.

But that’s got nothing to do with them—what Byron and Cheyenne want to do is their own business. Except...

Scarlet loves to tease and rile her husband Sully. And once she starts messing with his head—hey, everybody, who wants to go skinny dipping?—Sully starts responding in surprising ways.

He’s not into this swapping stuff, is he?

She’s kind of mad if he is, and yet she can’t deny her flagrant flirting with Philippe in front of her husband is getting both men’s attention. And she sure likes that.

But how far is she willing to go to push her husband’s buttons?

A lot further than she thought.

KT Morrison never disappoints and continues her upward climb in superb writing and storytelling.

This is a truly beautiful tale of two couples exploring their sexuality. They’re in the process of figuring out what they like and don’t like, and building from there.

Some reviewers have suggested that KT is too wordy. I disagree. Through her writing, KT describes a beautiful landscape in vivid and sensuous detail. The largest segment of this book is a love scene of 60-80 pages, depending on how you view it. There are 5 characters involved, all living their own experience, with their own feelings. Yes, it could have been covered in 20 pages, but the richness of the experience and the rolling sea of emotions would have been lost.

I really like these characters and appreciate the care displayed between them. They are on a journey and the pictures painted are vivid and detailed. I for one appreciate and savour them.

To illustrate KT’s sensitivity, there is a swinging scene that doesn’t work out (I’m pretty sure it’s the first flop I’ve read). KT illuminates the awkwardness and the laughter that ensues. It’s a prime example of the depth KT brings to the people she writes about.

A resounding 5 Stars. Thankfully, I believe there is much more to come.

More Yacht Fun.

Firstly, you need to know that this is not actually a SWAP book but rather a HOTWIFE book. There’s lots of talk about swapping and one small attempt at it but not to completion.

In the first book it was primarily about Cheyenne getting to be with Cody. In this one she’s still infatuated with Cody and manipulates her husband Byron into allowing her to have him again while he watches.

There’s some teasing and play with Sully and Scarlet but only Chey actually gets the full Monty. There is one humorous and creative scene where they attempt a swap with Byron and Chey but it’s not completed. (KT, the book would have been better if you would have carried it through)

So the primary focus of the story was the scene with Cody and Chey while being watched in the same room by Byron, Sully and Scarlet. Scarlet and Sully participate a little bit but Byron is left out completely.

Personally, I had a little trouble that Byron’s three friends were all over his wife without considering him at all. Doesn’t sound like something friends would do. Although KT tries to tells us Byron didn’t feel humiliated it actually was humiliating.

Of course Chey says to her husband: “Oh I love you so much, and it’s just you for me babe” BS…. you just can’t do what you did and then think you can ease out of it like that.

KT Morrison is a wordsmith and she pulled out all the stops on this story. As in the first book it could have been told just as well with half the words. This time it was the inner dialogue of five characters that took up eighty percent of the book.

Without question KT is setting us up for at least a third book and probably four. I’m a little disappointed she would do her readers that way. Especially leaving us hanging for months between books.

So for me, because of the way Byron was treated and the misrepresentation of it being a swap book, the story is three stars. But I know many readers would not have a problem with that so let’s say four stars then.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book is too wordy for my impatient reading style. Do I exclusively want a short book? No, but I tend to prefer novelette length books for this type of storyline.

You might enjoy and appreciate KTs writing style more than me, so don't take my review as gospel. KT is a good writer, and the cowboy roleplay scene was done very well with a few standout expressions detailing Cheyenne's arousal.

[He] touched Cheyenne’s chin and said in his cowboy drawl, “I think this pretty one gets a real fever. She suffers. You can see it in her eyes.”

Another 5 star hit from KT!

I seem to really like all of KT's books. She is a terrific writer, always providing great detail in her books that never bores you in any way. Some of her stories however describe characters that are very unlikeable but I still can't stop reading them. The characters in this book are generally appealing and a more fun read that the ones that are more serious like the school series. This book is erotic and gut wrenching and always entertaining. She is a master at writing look very detailed sex scenes that I would never consider skiming over as I might with some authors. Her characters tend to jump off the page and you really get into their heads. This book is book 2, and I would love to see book 3!
