The world falls into chaos. Earth is integrated into the multiversal System. And all Trace has is a gun.
Trace Taylor was at a shooting range when the world was kidnapped by the alien species called the ‘Esvol’ to begin humanity's integration with the System. Each individual person is given a femtochip implant and a class to fend for themselves before being sent back to Earth. Once Trace returns, she finds that the planet too is left scarred by this encounter.
Faced with monsters, dungeons, an annoying AI, and a lot of insane idiots, how will Trace come to survive this newly-changed planet?
Do note this is a Young Adult take on the LitRPG Apocalypse genre. It is also written in British English. But I highly encourage you to give it a shot... no pun intended!
Lots of cussing, but I was a teenager so that was normal enough. The constant don’t make it weird was annoying. The lack of looting was very disappointing. I would have liked to see the MC be more proactive in the beginning. Why did she stand around in a burning building talking to a cop and neither seemed to be the least bit worried? The MC puts her friend to bed before bothering to put out the fires. I wouldn’t recommend this for children due to the cussing.
It's a good story with nothing negative to say there, but the story needs editing. Mostly in the second half of the story, typos and grammatical errors show up in spades almost like the editor just gave up halfway through. It is of course still readable but it can be imersion breaking with typos and such. Also there is an author note that seems to have slipped through the editing that mentions a correction to a previous chapter but still remains in the book even though the problem is fixed, and even if it hadn't been fixed it would be less work just fixing it, than adding an author Note, so it is probably from the web-novel that i assume is released one chapter at a time. So overall a good story with some sloppy editing that if fixed would make the story even better. Give it a try as it's definitely an interesting take on litrpg Apocalypse but still not too far from the norm.
The writing is definitely a step above what I usually read in kindle unlimited, but it wasn't perfect. Some of the witty banter falls flat, or feels forced.
I found myself skipping paragraphs here and there when the main characters thoughts are suppose to show how traumatic the situation is. I know it's to show shes real people but a few paragraphs of "I just killed a person, it's so bad" doesn't really do it for me.
Overall it was pretty good, I skipped hardly anything compared to some of the KU books. I'll definitely read the next when it comes out.
*Audiobook Review* Great concept bad execution. The plot seem interesting but the real problem are the poorly written characters. The MC pretty much perminently set on "Rage" over childish and immuture things; which gets old very quickly. Worse, her problems are first world white people problems that ALL teenagers seem to have and think that it's unique to them only. The other characters are overly "millennium", even during the apocalypse. The book is an over exaggeration and chringworthy at best.
It's listed as YA, but is filled with swearing. Just something to be aware of more than a problem.
The issue is more that so much doesn't make sense. There's lots of action and violence but somehow people keep getting "knocked out" (after being shot or otherwise attacked). It got to be very difficult to suspend any sort of disbelief. It was kinda addressed in nearly the last chapter of the book, but I almost gave up before then.
This story is somewhat unique, in that the main character has a gun, instead of your typical midevil weaponry. The story as a whole goes along very well, and I can easily recommend this one to any LitRPG fan. I'm going to read more in the series as I can.
First off, I don't think I'm the target demographic for this book. Saying that, this was one of the most well written books I've read this year. Just give it a shot.
So this book needs a good revision. It's littered with typos and misspellings or just... Completely the wrong words in certain places. Also I have to say, Liz with her zoomer speak is annoying as all hell
It is relatively entertaining with a few interesting characters. The class system is decent but there are way too many stat descriptions and the letter grades of the skills aren't the best, it is especially annoying if listening to the audiobook. Worth a read but it isn't anything special.
