A Little Christmas: Noah

Rate this book
Noah Roberts tried his best to be a good slave for his master, but nothing was ever good enough. When a friend gives him a way out with the offer of a place to stay, Noah bravely accepts.
Jensen Nichols is used to living alone in his large monochromatic apartment with a great view. A view that lets him look down at the people and world below without having to engage in it.
Noah changes all that, bringing life and color to his routine existence.
But that doesn't mean it's easy. Staying away from his master is difficult and the guilt of leaving sets in almost instantly. Scared and at risk to return to an abusive situation, Noah and Jensen come to a new agreement where Noah isn't a slave and doesn't have a master. He's a boy who needs a loving daddy to help him get his life back in order. He can lean on Jensen until he has the strength to support himself.

This is an MM daddy/little Christmas twist on The Little Princess Classic tale. Each age play romance Novella in this multi-author series can be read as a standalone.
It isn't meant to be permanent. It isn't meant to mean anything, and it definitely isn't supposed to be what the both of them want.
Also, it's just in time for Christmas.

Daddy-lite

For anyone worried about this being a Daddy story, you don't need to worry, this was about two people who found who they needed and the word Daddy was used.

So in here were have Noah and Jensen. These two meet when a mutual friend asks Jensen to let Noah move in to escape an abusive Master.

I'm not gonna lie, I did not the pov of how this was written and skimmed most of this.

Ok

For a short read this one wasn't horrible as far as feeling a connection to the MC's. My only thing with all of these "little" books in the series. I am missing the "little" aspect. He got a stuffy and calls the man Daddy. That's it. Where is the actual age play?

My first read for this author. I liked it, but it ended too quickly. All these 'Little Christmas' books do this, but this one was even quicker. I was just getting into the characters of Noah and Jensen, waiting to flip the page for some more juicy goodness and then I see Epilogue. A few more chapters would have been better.

The writing style is pretty annoying. There's editing mistakes, dialogues that don't add up or don't make sense and it feels like a mixture of past tense and present perfect (although I'm Dutch so not completely fluent in English language). I found it confusing to read, confusing to follow from which point of view I was reading and to determine if the MC actually went to go do/say something or just wanted to.

The story felt boring to me and there were too many contradictions. Jensen likes his routine and order and doesn't want someone to live with him. But then Will sort of forces him to accept Noah to live with him and he's perfectly okay with it, not even having small issues with his routine being changed.
Jensen also has PTSD and suffers from nightmares. He's afraid of hurting someone in his sleep so he says to Noah he will lock his door at night. And yet, the first night Noah is there, Noah is crying so Jensen takes him to sleep together in his bed. All of a sudden not being worried at all about his PTSD or nightmares or hurting him.

Jensen doesn't want to be a dom because he doesn't like hurting people. Or so he says. But he has no issue to spank Noah. He also wasn't in the scene very long but despite never having tried it, all of a sudden decides that being a daddy for Noah would be wonderful.

The relationship isn't really ever given shape. Sure, it's sweet and Jensen takes care of Noah. But what does it mean to be daddy/little? Does Noah actually regress? Does he like using pacifiers or diapers? Does he want to play with toys? Or is it something purely sexual? Which is fine either way but it was confusing to me in what way this was a daddy/little relationship.

It's said in the book that being a slave means you don't get a safeword. Now, I don't know much about BDSM so I don't know if that's true or not. It just seems like a bit of a dangerous thing. And in the case of this book it clearly was since Noah was abused. Being taken without lube so he'd be bleeding, whipped until he was bleeding... And not in a way that he liked it. I get that the lines between a relationship and abuse in this case are blurry but personally I don't really get why a slave wouldn't get a safeword. Isn't the whole idea that you are in a relationship, no matter what kind, because you care about each other? Doesn't that mean it has to feel good for both?

The book is also very fast-pace. This is normal with a lot of books about ageplay but in this case it felt wrong to me. Noah comes from an abusive relationship and yet has no issues whatsoever getting in a new relationship with Jensen. He loves the sex, Jensen's dominance and apart from some confidence issues, he has no worries about the relationship at all.
Jensen doesn't think he needs a relationship and certainly not one in the kink community. And yet, also he doesn't really have doubts or worries. Sure, he discusses some worries with Will, but it didn't feel genuine or like actual worries.

Confusing book and not really my kind of thing.

Noah Roberts had tried to be a good slave for his master but nothing was ever good enough. A friend gives him a way out with the offer of a place to stay and so he bravely accepts. Jensen Nichols lives alone in his monochromatic apartment with a great view so he can look at people but not engage with them. Noah changes all of that with his life and colour even though he is struggling to be away from his master and feeling guilty for leaving. Noah is scared and at serious risk of going back to the abusive situation he was in, so Noah and Jensen come to a new agreement where Noah is a boy and Jensen will be his daddy while he gets stronger and able to support himself.

I found this a little confusing as I could see that they both needed each other and I could also see them developing a relationship but I wasn't convinced that it was definitely going to be a permanent arrangement. It was easy to read and understand and I loved the way that Noah finally stood up for himself against his former master. There is mature MM content in this BSDM like DDLB type story. This novella is part of the A Little Christmas series where the stories are all stand-alone and can be read in any order.

This is NOT a Daddy/Little story...

Yes, those dynamics were a possibility, but they were never quite achieved. For such a short story, there was certainly a lot to unpack, and actually, a few things that weren't addressed that could have made the story flow a bit better. I would have loved to have had this in a longer story. To have Noah's kinks and Jensen's self-discovery about his wants and needs given more of a front seat in the story would have been great and would have definitely taken about 100 more pages.

But, considering the story length, we were given all the information we needed (maybe not all we wanted) to get our guys to their HFN which works for me! I think everyone deserves a "happy ending" for Christmas every year! LOL!!!

Great story

With the help of a mutual friend, Noah breaks free from his horrible partner and moves in with Jensen. Jensen has PTSD and never really got into the BDSM community, but something about Noah makes him want to be protective and take care of him. As they get to know each other better, they realize they could be what the other needs to heal and move on. Noah can bring color and life into Jensen's boring, gray world and Jensen can provide the gentle and guiding hand that Noah needs. There were plenty of cute, sweet moments and hot and spicy times. I do wish there was a bit more of the Daddy/little dynamic, but overall a great holiday story.

Cute, but feels incomplete

The story was cute, but the sentence structure got in the way. Sections were structured in a way that seems like it was suppose to be present tense, but had a future tense feel. Example… He’ll open the door rather than he opened the door. It made the story feel clunky. There was also some point that felt like more development was coming such as one characters PTSD that stemmed from army experiences, but it felt like the author kept forgetting that was a part of the character they had written. Again cute overall story with potential, but not great grammar or character development.

Discovered totally by chance it was a nice quick read

The writing felt a bit off at times and I think it could have been developed into something longer (especially since Noah had a lot to unpack and recover from) with more details about the 2 MC (Noah says he wants to go back to school but we don’t know much about him, his interests,…for example.)

Overall a nice read if you have KU

Oh one detail that bothered me though: the cover says “age play” but there’s none! It has a daddy/boy dynamic but no age regression. Noah is not a little. There’s one plushie but nothing else. It’s not enough to call this age play in my opinion.

This was a sweet enough story. Went a little far on the kink side for me. It was also very relatable. Anyone who's ever found themselves in a toxic abusive relationship will understand what Noah has gone through. It's so easy to see someone with rose colored glasses while you believe you're meeting your soul mate only to later learn how you lost yourself in his demands and expectations. I was glad to see he had friends who were looking out for him, and set him up with Jensen, who wouldn't give up trying to show Noah a better way.

I liked it, but wished it were longer and more developed. Parts were fully imagined, and others seemed like outlines for scenes in a longer story. I'll look for more by this author

CW for partner abuse. There is an intense on-screen interaction between Noah and his abusive partner at the start of the book. There is no on-screen sexual assault, but Noah's fear and lack of consent were very visceral. Good writing, but protect yourself if that would be bad for you.

Escaping from an abusive relationship, Noah moves in with Jensen, a man not in the BDSM lifestyle. Both men suffer from PTSD, Jensen from his time in service and Noah from his abuser. But they are both exactly what each other needs. And their small steps towards recovery and building a Daddy/boy relationship are rather sweet.

Sweet

This is a sweet, short story. Noah needs to get away from his Master. Jensen is happy alone, but as a favor to a friend he lets Noah stay with him. It’s life changing for both of them.

Perfectly rebounded

I love the way they were both messed up then fixed themselves while getting with the other. It is a fairy tale. The way he over came his demon for his knight and shinning was perfect

I love the way that these two just fit together and their friend had seen it way before it happened. They both end up very different from who they thought they wanted. Both are really very kind hearted men and I'm glad that things worked out for them.

All I want for Christmas is his smile!

Jensen understands broken. Will he be able to provide more than his spare room to Noah? These two are in for some surprises this Christmas. Enjoy!

Where's the age play? This was a pleasant enough read, but instalove and hurt/comfort just don't match well, and besides, just enjoying cuddling and a stuffy doesn't make someone a Little.

short and sweet

While Noah and Jensen’s story deals with some heavy topics there’s a sweetness and vulnerability to it that’s beautiful. I’ve definitely found a new author to read.

I was hoping for more angst. I know this entire series is all about installing love and all that, but I hoped it'd be darker from the summary.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed Noah and Jensen’s story. It’s a quick read, angsty, hurt/comfort, with an underlying sweetness as both MCs are gentle souls who complement each other perfectly

Sad beginning Happy ending

Abuse in any form other than a mural satisfaction is wrong... And leaving a relationship that has been abusive is good and finding a daddy is better HEA

The story was sweet in many ways, but not my cup of tea. Not into Daddy/boy stories, so this series is not for me, but I appreciate the heart that was part of Noah finding a safe place .

Noah

This was a cute, short read. Jensen does a favor for a friend, and takes in an abused sub, it it turns out to be so much more for each of them!

Great story, Noah needed love and gentleness after his previous abusive relationship and he got it. The only issue I had was the abrupt ending. It literally just ended without a feeling of ending.

Had Potential

Meh, 2.5 stars. Has the potential to be so much better but it just wasn’t. Even as an insta-love it get forced and was a little all over the place at times.

sweet story

Noah is a Christmas novella. It is DDlb and bdsm.
This is a sweet story of saving for both MCs. They care for each other and find happiness after tragedy.
